The hotel has a beautiful location right on the sea but about 15 minutes away from Kona.In our opinion, the pool and the entrance hall are the most beautiful things about the hotel. The room was ok but way too expensive for what it is.You pay $25 a day for an outdoor parking space, even though there is a lot of space to park your cars. The breakfast and service is at district league level. My wife ordered a cappuccino and she received a paper cup even though there were cups in front of us. When she intervened and told the waiter "Ben" she wanted a cup and a new coffee, he went back into the kitchen and poured the mug of coffee into the cup. The prices in the restaurant are by no means justified because they are of no quality.Oh yes, and we were also manta rays and according to the hotel's advertising we should have seen them 92% of the time - surprise, we paid $125 per person to see a manta ray swim around 5 meters below us for 3 seconds. In summary, the price-performance ratio and the quality of the hotel are not right at all. If possible, always reserve a restaurant away from home or, best of all, book another hotel. For us it is definitely not a 4 star hotel on a European level!!

Despite the renovations we were treated very well!Rooms: Large and renowned rooms. Only the shower is disappointing.

Loved the place, atmosphere, staff, and pool! My only negative was a double bed instead of a queen. Would go back again.

Not on the beach. Staff was "understaffed" and food order was WRONG on two separate days after waiting over 40 minutes for food to come, Room was pleasant but little tiny bugs on bathroom sink and counter and on nightstand!

The staff was terrific. The location is breathtaking. But the building is under renovation right now so it was noisy. Not all of the services were available. After the renovation is finished it will improve but right now. Ok is the best I can do. Sorry.

Too much construction noise, no hot water in the sink, and no water pressure in the showers.Rooms: Sub stander, not much activity in resorts, we had to plan out to visit kona, and volcano,

Just returned from 7 days at the Outrigger. Our remodeled and spacious room was on the ocean front and you could hear the waves crashing every night. Housekeeping kept our room and the entire property clean and welcoming. Hotel is quiet at night with easy access to downtown Kona. Staff was very accommodating with special shout outs to Michael (manager), Frankie (front desk), Aileen (restaurant). Water pressure could be stronger and bed a bit firmer. Overall, a very pleasant stay!

It is a shame because this could be a great hotel if they were more transparent at the time of the booking. This hotel is going through intensive renovations and there is work going on. That means that part of the hotel is under construction. Also, the parking has at least 5 cargo size containers full of trash (I assume from the renovation). That is the view we have from our room, which I understand we booked as a "resort view" room, but not as a container full of trash view). Be aware that if you bring your car they charge you $25 per day to park and there is little you can do about it (you can decide to pay more if you want to use the valet!). We didn't use the restaurants since they have poor reviews so we can't comment on that. Also note that there is no beach by the hotel and you will need to find one outside of the hotel area if that is what you are looking for

We came here a few years ago and it was amazing. We spent 3 day is there this week and it was so bad. We booked as kamaaina (local deal) and it was still very expensive! The website says that they are doing some upgrades, but that's not true. The entire building is under construction. So noisy, so dirty, and all the workers are using the few working elevators and you won't be able to get on for a while. The first time I voiced concern, they promised that work would only be happening 9-5; that was not true...it starts at 7am and is LOUD. I could go on, but in summary, stay away until you know for sure that work all work is done and get a better price. I feel ripped off.Oh and it's called a resort and spa...but spa is closed and they don't say that anywhere on the site when Booking.Rooms: My room was a total piece of junk. Things falling apart, outdated furniture and fixtures, relaly bad. And I paid over 400/night on a special locals price!!But ..the view is unbeatable.Safety: The construction site that is this hotel is not safe. Dirty, duty, construction crews moving things all over. Areas closed off by the places that are supposed to be amenities.Food & drinks: There's 2 places to eat..sort of. A mediocre restaurant that serves overpriced breakfast or dinner...and a pool bar that is open from lunch to 7pm. So really just one option.

SO MUCH CONSTRUCTION! Literally the entire resort is so noisy, blocked off, and just 100% should be shut down until construction is done. Can’t believe there was no mention of this online and I paid $400 for possibly the least peaceful hotel I’ve stayed at in years.DO NOT STAY HERE

We had a lovely time at the outrigger. They were doing renovations at the time but you could see the potential that the hotel has once done. The food was fantastic as was the service. If you are going to Kona to see the manta rays this is definitely the hotel for you as it's less than a 5 min walk to the boat ramp where the tours set off.

Upper management needs to provide more support for middle management and frontline staff. The system needs a redesign. We came here for our anniversary, and there is no mention of it being under construction. We came in on a delayed flight, and only one lady was checking everybody in, 1 valet, and somebody from security pulling in OT for the valet. The hotel was overbooked, and we did not get the room we paid for, we got poolside instead of oceanside, king-size bed, instead of 2 double queens.. ok, everyone was tired, so we checked in and gonna talk to management to rectify this tomorrow. Tomorrow came, and Sandy couldn't budge from changing the room or provide any comps for us. Later that night, we gotta surprise in the form of roaches. The morning after, hot water takes a good 30 mins to reach our room. The showers were already done before it heated up. The hotel was swamped for the long weekend, and there was not enough staff to keep up, and I felt bad for em just rushing from place to place. That lady who checked us in came back the next day for the day shift.. I am writing this on day 3/4 of our stay here, and still no resolution from management regarding the bait and switch with our booking. So be wary booking here. Kudos to sally, valerie, and veronica for making the stay pleasant and kuya bhong from maintenance!Nearby activities: Manta snorkeling
