The shop owner was so sweet and helpful! He knew everything he had like the back of his hand, including what was in the back, which stood out to me. I’ve been on the search for one specific liquor since I moved from the mainland and haven’t been able to find it anywhere and other liquor stores couldn’t get their distributors to bring it. I thought all hope was lost. I decided to try this store, surprisingly, he had it!! I was ecstatic. He even had a local whiskey from my hometown state. I was pleasantly surprised. I will be back again and again!

New owner is very friendly and helpful. As soon as he learned I was a tourist from Canada looking for Japanese whisky he immediately started talking about the subject, what limited supply he carried and also was kind enough to suggest other places nearby I can find more selection. I walked out with a nice selection of local beer. Mahalo!

I used to go here a few back in the day, The owner would watch every single person as if they were shoplifting that’s why I took my business to Pali bottles years ago, he’s a old grouch and makes the experience very uncomfortable

Made a purchase at this store and went to sit in my car in the parking lot to make a phone call. As I was planning my next stop the owner comes out and knocks aggressively on my car window and says I must leave. I was one of two cars in the entire parking lot as well as a paying customer. Very rude and disrespectful. I will not be going back ever.

Kainehe Liquor Store is one of the last authenic "mon & pop" businesses left in the ever-changing Kailua landscape. Just. as the name says, sells liquor - many brands for different tastes & prices to meet just about any budget. I rarely write a review, Kanehe Liquors is family, is community. Kainehe Liquors has been there with comfort. w candy & ice cream for kids some now all gown up; emergency eggs, milk & ibuprophrine 7 days. a week, even on holidays. Last minute nice variety wine purchases close to home, Hearty selection of beer for the beach. You name they got it. Kainehe Liquors is local style we grew up with. & can trust . Excellent!

Below average selection for a liquor store. Went in for a bomber (22oz) pale ale. Had no cash. Guy behind the counter says $5 minimum for credit cards. I ask if he takes debit cards. He says yes and I politely tell him it's illegal to charge a minimum for debit cards and I only want 1 bomber. He then says something under his breath so I left. Guess he doesn't like money. Oh well. Foodland has the same beer for cheaper anyway and more selection.

Kainehe Liquor Store is an atypical Hawaii mom and pop local liquor store. Its selection of liquor, wine, and spirits is mainly limited to the most popular brands of alcoholic libations, those being carried catering to the common favorites of the working man or woman stopping off for a six-pack after a day of labors. One is not likely to find a rare Scotch whiskey in here. It also has a basic inventory of snacks, some local, like boiled peanuts and Hawaiian beef jerky, as well as Frito-Lay products. One class of item that they do carry better than anyone else in Kailua is an extensive selection of adult magazines; current issues of most popular adult titles, such as Tight and 18Eighteen Magazines, are available, as well as "mag pacs", which are sealed packs of older back issues of adult titles sold at a discount, usually 2 or 3 magazines for $9.99. This inventory, incidentally, is located in the very back of store, to the right of the cashier, cloaked behind curtains. All told, Kainehe is a decent local place to fill one's needs for whatever their chosen vices are: alcohol, tobacco, or porn, Kainehe has them all.
