Room was clean and comfortable. I had booked an ocean view room and the view from my balcony was great. The garden was also beautiful.
Like name suggests, the hotel is right at the beach. There are several restaurants nearby at walking distance. The beach is great to watch sunrise.
There is no house keeping unless you stay more than 5 nights. Although, being close to the beach, the room requires more often cleaning. The front desk staffs are not friendly. They were hesitant to give coffee pods when asked.
There is no elevator anywhere in the hotel. So, if you have heavy luggage and room on 2nd or 3rd floor, be ready to carry it upstairs.
There is $30/day resort fee that was excluded when I booked the hotel on priceline.
Rooms: Clean and big
Nearby activities: Beach
Safety: Good
Walkability: Several restaurants at walking distance.
Food and drinks: None at hotel.
Noteworthy details: Too many chickens.

To hotel housekeeping: thank you very much for the clean room. This criticism is absolutely not intended for you, but rather for the arrogant management of this hotel.
What disrespect to the customer!
We were on vacation to Hawaii for our 20th anniversary. We spent 5 nights in this hotel without air conditioning which is offered in your advertisements. Considering the temperatures in Hawaii, this is not an unnecessary luxury. We asked if something could be done about it because we understand that things sometimes break. Something should be done about it...unfortunately, unfortunately. What is our surprise? The next day an automated message "Aloha, hope you like your stay with us, don't hesitate to ask us for any help....? Scandalous!
We didn't make a big deal about it because we didn't want to have to deal with people on holiday, but if you want to book this hotel you run the risk that the air conditioning doesn't work and they don't want to solve it for you (you do pay for it). but that's besides the point).
Lying about this and not giving us feedback was the worst thing for me. We are not whiners and I have never complained about a hotel. Fortunately, the hotels on the other islands were great and left a wonderful experience. We came to Kaui to get some rest and then had a bad night's sleep for 5 nights. That's not a problem at home, but this was our vacation. In addition, 1 x housekeeping in 5 days, USD 250 payment. In the other hotels you saw that this sometimes happened every other day, which is fine. Only once every 5 days?
In addition, training for the front desk staff in customer friendliness wouldn't hurt either, but the rudeness of management is probably also reflected in this.
We wish you the best of luck with your vision and strategy for this hotel, I would spend my saved money in another hotel.
Yours sincerely,
Family P. van Schaik

Walkability: Very close to shops and great places to eat.
Food and drinks: Poolside bar, and nice little places to grab a bite.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Islander. It has been quiet, peaceful, and friendly, and there are a lot of good places to eat within comfortable walking distance from the hotel. And the ocran view from our lanai is mesmerizing. Yeah, we'd stay here again!

Rooms could be updated. Ac didn’t work in the beach fronting room the first night. 2nd night we moved rooms but then was upstairs when we specifically wanted to walkout to the beach. So that was disappointing, but AC was more important.
Location to beach was amazing!! Always had chairs to lounge in and the beach was amazing and relaxing.
Nearby activities: Great location to small shopping and few great restaurants.

Beautiful aparthotel, we had a view from our balcony of the swimming pool but we could see the ocean as well. Friendly welcome on arrival, we were upgraded because one of us was celebrating his 40th birthday during the stay.
The room was spacious and functional, too bad the coffee machine was so complicated to operate. The gardens are very well maintained and you will have to get used to being woken up early by the crowing of roosters, they are everywhere. The rather wild beach is clearly the icing on the cake. We recommend this property in the Kapaa (Wailua) area.

I gave 2 /5 for the service because I asked for ECI on my reservation bec we catch the early flight we arrived 626 am but I don't expect am check in I undetstand that but it's a coincidence that I was run to emergency at Wilcox upon landing after 4 hours I was released I called FD around 11 am if We can check in rt away but the FD lady working said she'll notify me but since she never call we decided to go on the property to see if ok to check in coz I really need to lie down in a comfortable bed I keep asking FD but her answer is your room not ready yet , waiting for 3.5 hours to check in(420 pm) with my situation she's not considerate probably because I have a discounted rate , she don't even show compassion , she should attend a training class of service orientation.
Rooms: newly renovated , presentation of the room up to standard & neat

Management please read: Everything about our experience here was wonderful, EXCEPT for the front desk girl Torrie. She was rude/unhelpful and acted like we inconvenienced her every time we came to the front desk for something simple. She also answers the phone "front desk", rather than a friendly "front desk, how can I help you?". In the hospitality industry, you HAVE to be friendly and kind or else your customers will go elsewhere. The other front desk people and management was fantastic though! The only time Torrie was polite was when the manager was there.

Pretty decent place except, if you stay here, you should probably avoid the hot tub.
Location was perfect for our purposes, oceanfront room was super cool, dining and shopping within walking distance, all great.
However, I developed a rash on my legs the morning after going in the hot tub.
Once we got home it was diagnosed by my doctor as pseudomanas and it cost $75 out of pocket for antibiotics.
Pretty much the only drawback from an incredible trip. But it's a pretty big drawback.

Got a garden view room on the first floor. The room stinks unbearably of ammonia or pee. We checked in and were out until late, and the front desk closed at 11pm so we couldn't switch rooms. Tried leaving the patio doors open for an hour and it still stunk.
Floor was dirty and toilet had stains on the lid. Crazy paying almost $300 a night for a room like this

We checked into the room and immediately realized that the A/C was not working. We let the front desk know that the A/C was not working and asked them to move us to a different room. They offered to move us to a smaller room, with a sofa bed no view for the same price. The other option they gave us was to refund us in full. We are already on the island and at 4pm in the evening our only option left was to get a room elsewhere for higher price. This made us cancel our plans for night and ruined the first night of our vacation. This is a run down old hotel with basic amenities and for the price they should at least be accommodating and more considerate.
