Just cycled the Kauai path remotely from home following a YouTube video and using an indoor bike trainer. Beautiful and scenic trail! Can’t wait to visit in person one day 😍

I never tire of walking this very safe path as each mile offers something very different. My favorite stretch is from Kapa'a town up to Kealia, meandering passed beaches, look outs and covered rest stops. I rarely fail to see a full rainbow or whale or seabirds and on the return the wind is generally at your back. With both sun and moon rises, either an early or late walk are equally enchanting.

This is a famous paved bike and walking path along the ocean in Kauai. 5 miles long (10 miles RT) I cycled it end to end and back using the beach cruiser from the hotel. I also walked the North 2 mile section round trip. It's relatively flat with a gradual incline as you head from South to North. Some sections are near stores and some sections are remote near large estates. It's a place locals go to walk and bike before and after work and on weekends.

Be sure to ride to the very end and enjoy the view. IN January-February watch for whales. Always fun to ride.

This paved path runs about 8 miles from Kapaa north. There are quite a few people who walk and bike as it runs like along the coast. There's very little shade or cover if it's hot or rains, but we enjoyed a couple of walks and the views are beautiful.

If you love to ride bikes and want a flat easy path, this is the place! What's not to love about riding bikes along the coast of Kapaa? This path has lovely views of the ocean with opportunities to stop anywhere along the way on grassy areas with swaying palm trees. Another plus is the very inexpensive cost of the one speed cruising bikes. As of January 2020, the walk in cost (no need to reserve ahead of time) was just five dollars per hour! You can't beat that! Aloha!

This is a great adventure. Very easy whether on foot or a bicycle. You get to see some of Kauai coast line that you do not when driving on the highway.

We rented bikes for an hour and rode the trail. Well maintained and not too, too busy. Trail is right along the ocean front. Bathrooms are not very far apart either.

This (bike) path is really amazing. You get to see to sea, many beaches, birds, etc. We really enjoyed our time there. Impressive views at sunset too.

Oahu has it's Waikiki beach path, Maui has it's Kannapali beach path, Wailea path, and Kapalua coastal trail, and Kauai has what? Was driving north on the Kuhio highway from Koloa on our ways to the Kilauea Lighthouse, the northern most tip of Kauai. Wife and sister were with me, while I was looking for a parking lot for access to the path. Now I know that the path starts in Lydgate Park, but is truncated by the highway bridge, so was looking for where it started up again, north of the bridge at Wailua in Kapaa. Drive north past congested Kapaa all the way to Kealia Beach. Big empty parking lot on a weekday, with panoramic views of the rugged east coast of Kauai. We start walking on the 9 foot wide concrete pedestrian and bicycle pathway, with the highway on one side, and the coastline on the other side. Paliku Beach to the north, and here Kealia Beach, are among the most dangerous beaches on the island, with undertows and perpetual high surf warnings daily in the winter. Not suitable for anyone in the water except expert surfers let alone swimmers and snorkeling. Open grassland area, with no shade, and no trees from the tropical sun. Rains a lot in December in this area of Kauai, and parts of the trail in the town are flooded. The path hugs the coast line and goes right into Kapaa, past the Hotel Coral Reef, and Pono Kai, over the Waikaea canal, where it goes inland next to the highway, and disappears at Kaloloku Rd. Sketchy areas in the town, where the homeless use the public toilets on the pathway and outdoor showers for washing beach sand off your feet and gear. Strollers and bicyclists on the trail. No trail for the 1.1 mile walk from Kaloloku Rd along highway 56 to the Sheraton Kauai coconut Beach Resort. The trail resurfaces at the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort , passing the Waipouli Beach Resort, the Plantation Hale Suites, Waipouli Beach Park in Wailua, ending at the Lae Nani Beach. No trail for the walk on the highway 56 for 0.7 miles from Lae Nani Beach across the bridge into Lydgate State park. From here trail goes through the state park and then Lydgate Beach Park, an area with a man made rock shore barrier to shelter swimmers and snorkelers from the heavy surf, the only place you can snorkel on the east coast of Kauai. During rush hour in the morning and evening, you can bicycle faster on the Kauai path than the congested traffic cars on the adjacent two lane Kuhio highway, intersected by a dozen traffic lights in Kapaa, and the only link between North and South Kauai. Spotted two porta potties next to pathway. To get to the porta potties requires wading through an ankle deep flooded parking lot!

The oceanfront path goes for miles. Bikes are also allowed on path but most are very courteous (when coming up from behind) and ring their bell :)

Enjoyed my bike ride on the path. Right next to the ocean. From the Hotel Coral Reef, you can bike 4 miles north and 2 miles south (into Kapaa)

We recommend renting a bike instead of walking. It'a a few miles each way and the bike ride in the morning or evening is beautiful. We even saw a seal on the beach! Consistent great views.

A moderate 8 mile path that gave us gorgeous sea views. Rent bikes from Hele on Kauai for a nice smooth ride down this path for $5 an hour!

This is a great walking or biking path just under four miles paved. It was easy to rent bikes and cruise the gorgeous coastline. Highly recommend.
