If you're staying on the island of Kauai, looking for reasonable prices for virtually anything in a grocery market setting, this is the place to go. Every staff member was very pleasant, food at the Market Place, especially the Poke' was outstanding and inexpensive.

Not going to be the best review. Sorry. The place was dirty, unorganized and almost chaotic. It was the closest to our condo and like every trip we try and buy stuff to eat most meals there and save for happy hour and apps. So we got in late and hit it for essential supplies. They must be short handed because I found dairy products left on shelves in other aisles. Products laying on their side everywhere and out of stick on more than a few items. Also pallets of stuff sitting in open spots that people had dug into for times because it wasn't in the shelf. Not impressed at all and not what we were used to at Foodland or the other supermarkets on the other islands. The poke counter looked a little dirty as well. That alone was enough to make me get only what we needed and go further down the road to Safeway for everything else the following morning. I did stop to grab some ice cream but the entire frozen section of ice cream looked like an ice berg. There was so much frost on the cartons you couldn't see what flavor you were buying. Heck at one point I thought I grabbed a Ben and Jerry's only to find out it was some other brand. It had at least an inch and maybe more of ice and frost around the whole thing. I bought it just as a joke telling my wife it was a white elephant ice cream selection. Maybe a hit or maybe just plain ol vanilla. Ended up being coffee toffee or something. The check out lady was really nice though and that's why I gave it rhe 3 stars. She was awesome and asked us if we found everything we were looking for and if she could help. But I'm kind of creeped out by dirty grocery stores so needless to say we moved to the Safeway for the remainder of the trip. It was clean and organized and the poke looked to be fresh and in a glass fridge that wasn't in need of a deep clean.

Highly suggest coming to big save if you are staying on the island I need to get food. They have just about everything that you need. The store is not as big as Foodland in Princeville but it is worth the little drive from Princeville to Hanalei to save some money. People that work here are very nice. Parking is a little bit challenging but like I said, it is worth it.

Shopped here multiple times for all the necessities while visiting Kauai. They have a lot of greatAsian options! Their poke was good, but I think it gave us food poisoning

We had heard so much about the poke so we decided to try it at this location. Why a 1 star, stood there for 8 minutes with the lady ignoring us and not even a hello I'll be right with you. She was acting busy but didn't look up at us. Completely acted like we didn't exist and we ended leaving. I guess this place didn't want our money. Do not recommend.

This is usually the place to go if you're looking for specialty items, like Asian food items or local Hawai'ian products. A little bit disappointed today because we came here specifically for tamarind soup base to make singing, but they were completely out. 4 empty boxes left on the shelves where it should have been. So we know they carry it but hadn't replenished the supply (or cleared the empty boxes from the shelves). BIG FAIL. It's OK. We were able to find it elsewhere, but it did make for another stop. The prices here are really high, but food prices everywhere in the islands is high, especially now during Covid. Mask wearing is mandatory (as it should be IMO) & they have a variety of masks for sale. Hand sanitizer is available for use upon entering/exiting. The building is very old & could use a little bit of updating. It's located very near to the post office, just off of Kuhio highway, so it's an easy fit into your (maybe?) everyday routine. There is ample parking & they even have ev spots equipped with electrical hookup.

The o boy gripe I have is about the kitchen.... couple times I got plate lunch from here, the hulu hulu chicken was dry, the fried rice had no taste, and when I asked for sunny side up eggs for breakfast, I got to my job and the cook gave me over hard eggs.

Local grocery store close to where I was staying. I never made it to the Safeway or Foodland on this trip, so nothing to compare it to. Smaller place than most American chain grocery stores, it had pretty much everything I needed. There was even a small area for souvenirs. They also had a kitchen area that served breakfast and some other hot prepared food. Again, this was smaller than most. Compared to restaurants, their prices were quite cheap. Lots of groceries on special when I was there. Very understanding and friendly staff were quite helpful. I'd support buying local as much as possible, especially when traveling. And this felt more local than Safeway.

Try shopping elsewhere, which is a waste of time & money. I always go back to my number one grocery story. Best prices, veggies are fresh.
