Everyone here is so friendly! I called to order some wood for my husband and the young lady that helped me answered all my questions. When I came in to pay, I was greeted right away and was able to schedule a delivery. Process was quick and easy! This saved me so much time! We'll be back!

Locally owned and “employee owned” meaning that the associates share in the profits. This means they are actually motivated to help you. The drive-through lumberyard is so great too… You load it right in the truck rather than loading it onto a cart, through the check line, to the parking lot, then load the truck.

Their package homes and the people who handle them are a total disaster. First, they lied about the price of the blueprint prices they charge. Their "draftsman" submitted two wrong sets (First set was the wrong house entirely - 3 weeks later the second wrong set was a house meant for a slab foundation when we clearly asked and paid for the for the Post & Pier plans). They billed us for all three sets - never got any resolution on that, they just kept my money. But the real rip-off is in the details - in very light fine print their literature it says "Home packages for Oahu, Maui and Kauai may not include all items listed". That's a HUGE detail, and they WILL NOT tell you whats not included. Good luck working with the "challenged" workers there on finding out exactly what's not included. I asked for 3 months and could not get a straight answer. Their package home specialist (Cant publish her name) was completely clueless and ignored my emails. She must be related to the owner because no responsible business owner would keep her on the payroll. I asked her by email what wasn't included - I got a response 12 days later that was a long diatribe about flooring options and ZERO answers to any of my questions. Eventually I became so annoyed with their stupidity I called and scheduled a meeting with HPM and the contractor they found for us, to get some answers. Both HPM and R. Clary builders agreed to meeting, but on the day of, they both came completely unprepared. I gave them a list of specific questions we wanted answered the week before, but they acted like it was the first time they were hearing about it. Their lead home sales guy (cant say his name either) who came was no help at all. Never introduced himself, just sat in on the meeting and tried telling us over and over how great HPM is.. The contractor they did find for us kept submitting new bids even though we never changed the plans or added anything. They double-charged us for items that were supposed to be included in the kit - over $15,000 worth. After the contractor gave us a third incorrect flawed bid - we dropped the whole project. HPM has no business selling nails and 2x4's let alone complete home package kits.. About 4 weeks after we backed out of the deal because of their incompetence I sent a letter to their headquarters on the Big Island telling them how useless they are - shortly after I got a call from some middle-level l**** who claimed he wanted to help me get some resolution,,, but actually all he wanted to do was to try and sell me the kit again.. Said he'd talk to the "Boss" about refunding some of the $3500 they charged us for multiple blueprints that they screwed up on,,, never heard back, no refund of any type, just hot air and false promises. And just to clarify, we wanted a stock standard house plan, no modifications and no changes.. When we first spoke to them they said stock blueprints would be less than $1500.. After the first two failed blueprint sets, they presented us with a bill for $3500.. When I confronted them they pulled the usual "Well I don't know who told you that price but they were wrong".. NEVER meet with them alone - do all business with them by email so you have evidence to use in your lawsuit later.. Better yet, just avoid HPM on all islands..

POSITIVE: We ordered a specialty window from HPM. It was over a thousand dollars but we really wanted it so splurged. When it came (6 weeks)in they called us to set up delivery. On the day of delivery the driver called us with details and we realized he could not get the window to us as the place was full of lumber and tile with no driveway access. We figured a couple guys could carry it down but that was not the case as it was a 5x5 crate and heavy an only one guy driving with a lift. We live on a HILL and the driveway goes DOWN. So it was a no-go. They agreed to HOLD THE WINDOW for us until we get it figured out. NICE. NEGATIVE: The window was delivered and is nearly a FOOT off size wise and not the style we ordered. No side vents (garden style)Trying to get it RE picked up =nightmare with multiple calls and hassles. With the crate in the yard and the huge window safe in my garage IN THE WAY OF CONSTRUCTION AND LIKELY TO GET DAMAGED and another 6 weeks for the right one? =humbug! UH, NO THANKS. UPDATE: The Manager apologized and said I'd get a FULL REFUND and guess? They KEPT nearly $350.00 for 'shipping' and ordered or got the WRONG window and I pay? I don't think so!!! Here some MORE humbug, more calls that go NOwhere...STAY TUNED! RIP OFF! Do NOT order special anything from HPM! If they do not fully refund me I'll file complaints with BBB etc! (and write ACCURATE bad reviews)

updated review: never again. Specialty window was over a thousand dollars! They held it while I waited for the crew to start here with enough help to take it down a steep driveway--positive. NEGATIVE: The incredibly multiple calls hassle of having a window nearly a foot larger than ordered taken back. At first I was upset because I asked for the side vent windows and they ordered a casement side with like 4 INCHES open at the bottom on a 36" window and only on the teeny sides of a garden window. But when we opened up the crate further it was WAY too large! I was re-assured that it was a mis-ship ERROR by the company and I'd get a full refund after many many many MANY calls trying to straighten this out. When they came to pick it up, the driver said he was turned away on Ka. (NOT, he had to wait for resurfacing and didn't want to...) Second time they didn't call and it was just me and the driver (Steep driveway; crew on lunch break) to get the thing topside to have the forklift get it as they parked at the bottom of the steep hill I live on and forklift'ed up here. (Smart). Luckily the guys working here placed it on a dolly the day prior when he was supposed to come get it so we rolled it UP the driveway. (WHEW!) THEN I got a refund MINUS SHIPPING (over 300$$$). I was reassured that it was NOT my error therefore would receive a FULL refund. YET ANOTHER CALL. Kalei says she'll ask the manager---and here we go all over again, waiting, more calls--will they keep their word or not? STAY TUNED! But one thing I KNOW. NEVER SPECIAL ORDER FROM HPM.
