A wonderful nurturing supportive yoga studio. This is the place to go if you are new to Yoga or want a place to go that is welcoming to all then the search is over. From the moment I walked into the studio til now a year later it has been the best experience. I feel like the value I get far exceeds the nominal cost. The teachers are knowledge and extremely helpful in making sure that my alignment is correct and are able to help use different props that are supportive if you are having aches or pains.

After attending 2 classes at Big Island Yoga Center, I found a community of the most kind and caring people on the Big Island. Classes help me heal chronic back pain, and I felt supported and encouraged in every asana. I love all the caring and talented teachers at BIYC and the community they support and care for. Big Mahalo!

Studio has quality teachers that are knowledgeable, friendly and do adjustments that add to the teaching. I love this studio and would highly recommend them.

This is a great studio with quality instructors. Many teachers practice and teach from the Iyengar lineage, which is the most intensive and attentive lineage of yoga training that is readily available. Teachers make thoughtful adjustments and accommodations, but they never let you be satisfied with just remaining in your comfort zone. Other yoga studios may market themselves as “do whatever feels right,” but thankfully this studio stays true to its method and directs pupils towards the deeper aspects of yoga.

Was looking for affordable yoga prices. It says NONPROFIT however it is an astounding $185 for only 16 classes! I had an amazing yoga studio that I joined for only $79 per month for unlimited yoga classes. This place is a sham. They somehow managed to make it a nonprofit by having just a couple free classes for a limited number of people to attend, while charging exorbitant price for only 16 classes. Seems like tax evasion at its finest. Most yoga places are about health and making it affordable. There are cheaper places that are just as good if not better!

I often remember my visit there last year. I went to yoga several times. I brought my sister and my husband one two occasions. The instructor adapted the classes to proficiency level and helped everyone get the most out of the class. Beautiful classes and location.

I loved this rope wall experience! I am super flexible, am a yoga teacher and practice many forms of yoga and could still get really nice access to stretches. The teacher was very knowledgeable and knew many options on the wall. The neck stretch at the end was divine! Now I have to go buy my own yoga wall!

Visiting from the main land, we are typically very active and put a lot of stress on our bodies while we explore the island and have adventures. We attended a Saturday practice that focused on restorative poses. It was exactly what we needed. The instructor was very patient and helpful. She was very friendly and attentive, making sure each person was doing every pose properly. It is great to travel and expand ones practice!

Big Island Yoga Center is just off the highway near the three banks in Captain Cook. The building is shared with a doctor's office, which apparently means that you're not supposed to park there during the day (weekends only), but you can find parking elsehwere nearby. The space is beautiful and benefits from a nice cross-breeze. It's the only place I could find nearby with a predictable and relatively full schedule of classes, though the bulk of the classes seem geared toward Iyengar and restorative practices. That's not necessarily my thing, but I still enjoyed the classes I took, and Julie, the teacher, had absoultely no problem with a newcomer/tourist like me stopping in. Everyone else in the class was clearly a local. Give it a try if you're looking for a vacation from your vacation!

While on vacation on the Big Island in Hawaii I found this yoga center and dropped in for a 90 minute class which I found to be a wonderful way to get some exercise while traveling. The instructor Joanne was very friendly and welcoming and the class itself was very helpful in addressing a slight back strain and was great for an overall workout. I would go back to the Big Island Yoga Center for classes. It was a chill place, not too pretentious, and had some windows facing the ocean in the back of the studio.
