With full knowledge this is a more off the grid type of stay, it was amazing! The big island and Hawai’i in general has such a rich abundance of nature and beautiful wildlife why not spend your time living amongst it. We stayed at the bamboo cabin, remote feeling but still close to the main house. Be sure to arrive during the day time cause at night it can be tricky (bring a headlamp or flashlight). Otherwise your set, there is a shower (propane heated), toilet (compose) and outdoor kitchen with a hot plate, frig and some really great coffee! The room was comfy, lights and outlets.Falling asleep to the coqui frogs and waking to the medley of birds was a lovely way to finish and start the day

We can't really comment on the service, because we arrived late and had to leave very early the next morning. But the Garden Cottage was charming, clean, and very comfortable. We especially loved the outdoor shower. And the setting — on the slope of Hualālai in Kealakekua, with views of the ocean — was positively stunning. We fell asleep to the chirp of a coqui frog and awoke to gentle birdsong. It was a heavenly 12 hours, and we'll definitely stay there again on our next visit to Kona.

This tented site is nicely situated for a relaxed & adventurous getaway on the Kona coast. The tent is roomy with an indoor toilet; the queensize bed is very comfortable; & the outdoor shower is perfect for cleaning up after an adventurous day. The kitchen is very limited, but serviceable, so some creativity is required for meal prepping; & the camp is located in a rainforest, so there will be rain & frogs. All part of the adventure!Nearby activities: Hiking distance from the Captain Cook monument & great snorkelling. Centrally located to explore many of Hawaii’s beaches, volcanos & other attractions.

We absolutely loved our time here! We stayed four nights in the Garden Cottage and it was the perfect way to decompress after a long flight. Very clean and private. We could see a bit of the sun set from our porch. We enjoyed fresh coffee and bananas from the farm for breakfast. We even had a visit from a cute little pup which was perfect since we were missing our own. It was different than a sterile hotel room that we were used to but loved the experience and set the tone for island life. Thank you for sharing your accommodations.

Nous avons dormi dans la jungle canopy c’était très sympathique d’être au milieu des arbres. La douche en pleine air sous les étoiles : tout simplement magique.Les hôtes sont accessibles et très gentils et leur mignon petit chien.

Very quiet, peaceful place with great views, easy access.Cons: there are really no activities, no dining, no yoga as indicated on their website; no services offered, beddings aren't very clean. Not very welcoming and family friendly. Not recommended unless you'd like a very quiet retreat.

I absolutely loved staying here! I was traveling as a solo gal and I felt safe and comfortable through my entire stay. The property is absolutely beautiful and it was a magical place to wake up to. I flew into Kona somewhat late and did have a hard time with directions- I would just suggest making sure you know where you’re going as Apple Maps led me astray at first. But the hosts helped me find it and once there I was in actual paradise. Thank you to Gingerhill Farm!

I spent a few days at Gingerhill Farm, and I wish I could have stayed longer. It was a calm and tranquil space, and the full kitchen and outdoor dining area made for a lovely way to start the day, sipping coffee on the lanai. I stayed in the Bamboo Cabin, and as nestled as it is in a bamboo grove, it felt like I had the whole place to myself. The nocturnal serenade of night-creatures and view of the stars were glorious, and the outdoor shower and composting toilet were pristine. Highly recommended, and would love to stay again when I’m back on Big Island!
