“Steep 2 mile each way (4 miles round trip) hike, which takes about 1 hour each way for active adults. Stunning views and the bay looked awesome to swim/snorkel in, but we had gone late afternoon and ran out of time. Once you get to the bay, walk to the left to find the monument and swimming area. Wear hiking shoes or sneakers (not flip flops), as the trail has lots of rocks and areas you can easily slide without proper gear. Park at the corner of the highway and Napo’opo’o road (don’t follow signs to captain cool, which overlooks the bay). Trail starts across from 3 palm trees. Pack plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen (parts are shaded, others not) and get ready to sweat coming back up!”

“Alex and family run an incredible wine, spirits, beer, and cheese store. Having moved to Kona a couple years ago from California, I was concerned I wouldn't be able to find a selection or knowledge of great wines, including from Europe, here. Alex and Westside Wines solved all that. Alex has immense knowledge of wine from his days as a sommelier and numerous travels to wineries throughout Europe and America. It seems like most wines he pulls off his shelf to tell you about has a story he can relate about the family history, the region, and how he actually visited in person. For the Bud Light/Stella/Modelo/sweet wine crowd, other reviewers are correct that you are better suited to shopping at the local grocery store. But to the discerning customer who knows not to buy their wine (like their sushi) at a grocery store, Westside Wines is for you. Besides being a family affair, I like the fact that Alex will help curate a selection for you based on your preferences and price point. I've found the prices extremely reasonable, especially if you compare to having wine shipped by Vivino with their $120/box shipping fee. Plus Alex tells you the story behind the wine and you get educated, which is a lot the thrill of enjoying a wine - the story behind it. Enjoy this gem!”

“You *may* find your favorite, hard-to-locate grocery item(s) here.Note that it will probably be grossly overpriced if they have it... but if you find it on their shelves, you will most likely buy it at their price. Also note, this ChoiceMart meat dept is one of the best among the supermarkets on island.”
