Parrots in Paradise is a parrot sanctuary in Kona offering visitors a unique experience. The sanctuary is home to over 150 parrots of various species, including small Lovebirds and the rare and beautiful Hyacinth Macaw. Tours are led by knowledgeable guides, such as Jerry, who share fascinating facts about the birds, their individual histories, and personalities. Visitors can enjoy hands-on interactions with the birds, including having parrots climb on their shoulders or land on their arms for treats. The sanctuary emphasizes the complex lives of parrots, going beyond what is often portrayed in media. Guests have described their experiences as some of the best they've had in Hawaii and highly recommend a visit. The family that owns and runs the sanctuary is dedicated to educating the public about keeping parrots as pets, and it is clear that all of the birds are extremely happy and well taken care of. The beautiful views of the sea and the landscape make the experience even more special, but it is noted that the road leading to the sanctuary is narrow and may have small branches brushing against vehicles.
