I love the negative reviews of Treasure Island Thrift. The negative reviews scream the remarks of entitled people. Is Karen sometimes a bit brusk? Yes. But this unique woman is also one of the warmest, most generous people you'll ever hope to meet. She is good to people and generous to the community. Is the thrift shop unusual? Yes. Karen works hard to make it a place where you can find unusual items. And boy have I found a few items you'd never find anywhere else. Once you get to know Karen you'll come to love her. We come from the mainland once a year and always stop to say hi and see what new interesting things she has. Stop being such entitled haters.

LITERALLY BEST PLACE EVERRRR. I came to the store about 10 minutes before they were closing and the lady was so nice and understanding and she let us stay a bit after 3 o’clock. I have been to so many thrift stores, and this is one of the best, the prices here are incredible. I got a very nice Columbia fleece for under four dollars and I got other great name brands such as Nike, Whistler, and banana republic. I have never ever left a review before, but this place was so good that i had to write one.

Great shop so much to look through and explore, plus it has a food bank.

I've been coming to this thrift store for about five years now and enjoy it very much. The owner, Karen, is not a "crazy lady." She is a fine human being, who is very kind and helpful to her neighbors and people who are not as fortunate. All you have to do is follow her rules and she will reward you with wonderful conversation, a big smile and great prices. I too have broken a couple of her rules. I took the correction and moved on. Not that hard.

If I could rate less than one star I would. One of myfamily members were pushed out barely in the door. VERY disrespectful person running it this morning.

I was next door at the Gypsea Gelato shop and decided to stop in after I finished my dessert. Outdoors they have stuff overflowing in bins from fresh dropoffs. So you'll have to do some digging for stuff outside. Inside, it is a home with each room converted to a collection of items (i.e. kitchenware, women's clothes/shoes, men's clothing/shoes, children's etc.) organized on racks or shelves. It seems like lots of locals frequent this spot and regularly donate and purchase their items. Which are reasonably priced. I ended up buying a few simple tank tops and they averaged about $1.25 or $1 each. That's why they've apparently been in business for over 20 years said the owner. She was nice and generous too - even said I could grab some lemons or squash from her garden (which were in a box) at the front of the store near the exit.

I'm not sure where to start!?! I drove there with a full car load of very nice items to donate, only to be driven away by this crazy lady running this awful Sh*t Show. I heard her name is karen. I finally met one!!!

Somewhat overpriced for a thrift store, but there is some good stuff here.

I've been here many times and I've never experienced anything like the others have. The owner has always been nice to me and offers me free bread every time I stop by. The place is a bit disorganized so if you're not afraid of doing a little digging then this might be worth it to check out. Lots of little rooms to go in, nothing is priced, but nothing I've brought to the counter was ever priced over $3. Overall I really like this place.

Excellent quality inventory and fair prices. I arrived at 9:40, and she said I could go in through the back even though she doesn't open until 10. I purchased a 4 pack of shot glasses still in the original packaging, a top, a dress, a unique men's tie from Washington, a pair of earrings, and one large towel for $12.50. She may have given me a discount because I had to wait in line behind 5 people. She kept apologizing. There were 2 dogs and 2 chickens at the shop. I thought about trying on the dress but I didn't see a changing room (and I was pretty sure it would fit). Plus, if it doesn't, I'm not out much. It was not expensive. Someone was dropping off a bag of food while I was there (she gives food away for free). A man stopped by to get a loaf of bread.

Today I went to this thrift store. I was greeted by a outdoor worker who didn't wear a mask. As I chose a couple items to buy I entered the check out area inside the building. The owner who also was not wearing a mask yelled at me and said I couldn't enter unless I wore a mask. I stated that I have a exemption and attempted to show her and she would not allow me to enter unless I had a vaccine. The owner was hostile, Unmasked, refused to hear why I can't wear a mask due to my disability. I will be presenting her with a disability violation on my next trip to Kona. Governor Ige provided a exemption clause if a person has a disability. Obviously this owner hasn't read the mandates. I would not recommend this store. Owner is hateful.

A friend and I attempted to patronize this business today only to be rudely turned away at the door by the store owner (due to us not having masks on) when my friend tried to enter to pay for items she had selected. There was no visible sign stating that masks must be worn, nor were they being worn at the time by the store owner or the attendant working outide). The attendant in front outside kindly greeted us as we browsed the outside items. My friend attempted to explain to the store owner that she has a medical exemption and that wearing a mask poses a risk for her due to a respiratory disability that could cause life-threatening issues. This lady was unwilling to listen to anything my friend had to say and was quite verbally demeaning and hostile toward her. Irony is, is that I have heard that this lady has done good things for the needy in the community, yet she ignores the needs of a person with a legitimate disability. My friend did not purchase the items and we both left. The only reason I gave this place 1 star instead of zero is because (1. Not possible to give a review without at least 1 star and 2). The lady who greeted us as we approached the front outside was friendly and seemed sympathetic to my friend's concerns, even though she couldn't override the owner's staunch refusal to allow us inside to make the purchase. We will not patronize any business that chooses to cower down to these ridiculous tyrannical mandates which have never been and are not laws. This establishment has violated my friend's rights according to the ADA and a report will be filed.
