Hours: We are an independent non-profit school located on a beautiful 22-acre campus on the North Shore of Kauaʻi. A Kula originally opened its doors in 1995 and is now reopening after being closed for several years. Being situated in Hawaii, a special emphasis on an Indigenous model of knowing and learning is integrated into the curriculum. A Kula is committed to the re-examination of the Hawaiian Native Traditions which were likely misinterpreted under colonial influence. The Native Hawaiian culture has a rich and sophisticated philosophical tradition that was not previously understood. With our integrated systems of learning, A Kula will help bring a new respect to the indigenous population of the island.
