Bad service, safety guy was rude. I Miscounted my money and gave an extra dollar by accident and the guy mistook it for a lousy tip and had to make it a point to tell me “thank you the extra dollar” with attitude. As he shoved it into his tip jar. Then I Gave em the $10 I was going to give him anyways and his attitude lifted all of a sudden, right before I was leaving. Never gonna recommend, never coming back

Always does a great job. Honest and helpful. Appreciate their service. Have used them since coming to Maui and owning a car. 7 years.

These guys were great. Quick service, the price was very fair and they didn't try to upsell. My older truck had a few issues and they told me which need to be fixed and which can wait, and I appreciate that. One thing I assumed was a problem that must be fixed and was prepared to pay for they said was fine, was a sign of a different problem, and it wasn't a safety issue. I'll definitely go back to have them fix the "can wait" stuff when I get a chance.

Hi Dan D., owner of Ka'anapali Safety Check (located within the Ka'anapali Auto Service Center), When a merit-based criticism is levied, a business has two response options. Either to accept the criticism with a commitment to do better or to bash the customer/client instead. You chose the latter, which is the easy way out! As to the facts, 1) There is obviously an existing issue and confusion with the name and signage of the business(s). Just read the other reviews, I'm not the only one that didn't distinguish one business for the other. Again, you can't blame the customer for your shortcoming. My apologies to KAS, but the two of you have to get together and get this sign confusion figured out! 2) As for the "mask issue", when your sign reads: "new rules: no mask, no service", it DOESN'T distinguish between the vaccinated and unvaccinated. This is a state and county mandate which applies to all, regardless of their self-proclaimed vaccine status. (Your admission that as a vaccinated individual you don't have to wear a mask, is a blatant admission of your breach of this mandate). You also stated: "the mask rule is there for our own self-preservation than anything else". Hate to tell you this buddy, but as one vaccinated person to another, you got your facts completely backwards! Where in the heck have you been for the last two years of this pandemic.... 3) As for the claim of poor driveway positing of the car which could lead to someone running over your foot while doing the inspection. Again, I have absolutely NO IDEA what are you talking about? For a HI annual inspection, the car is always placed in PARK, with the owner instructed to turn OFF his/her car. If you know of an instance where a turned off car, placed in park, has run you over, please let me know. Would love to hear that story!! In this specific case, your employee wanted to walk to the back of the car from the right side and couldn't do it easily, since it was too close to the curb, so he had to walk around the car from the left side. Here is some flash news: both right and left sides of the car are the SAME length! 4) Finally, as for "let's not forget I was there and heard the whole exchange". No, you were not. You were INSIDE the office with heavily tinted glass frontage, and with the front door completely closed. Only your employee was outside doing the safety inspection. You must have x-ray vision and bat-like ears to have witnessed the whole exchange, not to mention, no mask! Based on this ridiculous experience, I'll be doing my next safety inspection at the facility to the right of the West Maui Shopping Center, only a few blocks away.

A posted sign at the entrance said: " new rules: no mask, no service". I stopped the car before entering and placed my mask on just to see the guy in the jean overalls (employee) approach me without a mask!!I went there for my annual HI auto safety check. The same guy barked: registration, insurance & old safety form. As I was trying to produce them he barked again that I should have had those ready for him and not keep him waiting. I looked in my rearview mirror and noticed I was the ONLY customer. I went along with his orders and gave him what he pointed to. He came back out of the office few minutes later and barked even worse that I gave him the wrong document, even though this was what he had asked for. In short, this individual has no business sense nor knows how to talk to his customers. The guy in the office had to stick his head out and tell him: "leave him alone". Wow, what business etiquette...NEVER AGAIN

I get it, 30 minutes before closing time is grueling but - come on, man. The only guy at the location quickly shut the door as soon as he saw us pull up.

I don't know about the mechanics but the guy who's running the safety checks is kind of rude. He probably thinks he's funny. Not so sure about his people skills.

I was visiting Maui on vacation and was having a hard time finding a spot to fill the tires of my rental car! Finding no luck at three different gas stations, I gave Kaanapali Auto Service a call and they said I could come by, not a problem at all. Quick fix and at no cost, I was very appreciative of their help. Seems like an easy and honest spot.

I go here for everything. Super nice, knowledgeable and most importantly don't try to upsell you on things that aren't necessary.

I went to Kaanapali Auto and just had the pleasure of working with RICH. He was HONEST, prompt and straightforward. (My situation was an opportunity to make money and do unnecessary work.) Instead he told me exactly what needed to be done. It's great to feel confident and comfortable with an honest mechanic - especially as a woman. I suggest asking for him by name!
