Booked for our honeymoon… We called multiple times before arriving to ensure our reservation was still good and we were told we were welcome to come. Even encouraged. We get there after 14 hours of travel at 10pm at night just to find our reservation was cancelled without any notice and then had no assistance finding a hotel to stay at that night. We understand there are extenuating circumstances but this kinda ruined the start to our honeymoon and we still don’t know where we will stay the rest of our trip, with so many hotels booked up completely.

Honestly when I read the reviews I was a little unsure, but I am SO glad we still booked it anyway. The view is amazing, the staff is awesome & the room has AC!Its definitely worth it for the price! The bed was super comfy too. This place was so worth every penny! I would definitely book it again. Plus the balcony is in the shade compared to the main hotel that you check in to.

Good prices for a nice resort area. Really near the beach and not far from Black Rock for good snorkeling. The rooms are generally comfortable. Biggest issue is the nightly luau and show, which is great the first night there, but can be tiring. Shuttle takes you to Whaler's Village, which is convenient. Enjoyed the exercise room, which I used every day.

I chose this place on location. For 6 nights i paid $1920.00. I got here and needed to put down a security deposit of $450.00 says pending in my bank account. So once my stay is over I should get it back. What they didn't tell me is the $40 per day club free. So that's an extra $240. Got to my room everything looks out of date with gaps in the ceiling in the bathroom, dead cockroach by the mini fridge. No microwave. Being charged $2160.00 is ridiculous. I stayed in Super 8s with better and cleaner rooms.

Loved our stay here! Beautiful location with true private beach access and close to the Castaway Cafe, which we really liked. When we checked in, someone guided us in a golf cart to where we would park, and then when we parked he took us and our luggage in the golf cart right up to the door of our hotel. I'm not a connoisseur of fancy hotels, but I was pretty impressed with their service!

Cheap prices (for Maui) great location and even sweeter staff. The staff was definitely my favorite part. I loved talking to them and asking them for suggestions. Always helped out. The rooms are a little dated and do not have ac. So if you're sensitive to heat. Maybe don't choose these. I loved it though. I prefer a natural breeze and the balconies were always a great start to my day❤️ thanks guys!

Really crappy service. Super disappointed this was the last part of our trip. We booked through Expedia - our first mistake. Now we can't cancel. Still waiting to get to a room. Check in was at 4:00. It's 4:30 and we're still waiting. We were told we might be able to check in early but we've sitting in this place for the last 3 hours. Again, super disappointed. Front desk is unfriendly and unhelpful.

The room smelled damp & mildewy. The AC made it worse. There's no elevator. If we'd booked more than one night, we'd be moving in the morning. There's bugs by the sink The price is outrageous for what we're getting. This is worth maybe a third of the price. I've stayed in hostels that were less smelly. Do not recommend.

Cons: In a nutshell.. you get what you pay for. The KOI building is the cheaper option to Royal Lahaina Resort. We were in a ocean view on the 3rd floor to start but the night we got there we found ants crawling all over the wall by the bed so we called and front office came to spray them and wipe down. I checked for bed bugs and there was none. Definitely not how i wanted our vacation to start. The next morning we asked to be moved to a room with no ants and we were offered a room in the more secluded bungalows but only with a golf course view which is not what we paid for and being my first trip to Hawaii I wanted an ocean view. The next best thing without having to pay extra (which i thought was ridiculous to ask us to pay for an upgrade when there are bugs involved!) would be a room closer to ocean front in the same building. We agreed because this room was much cleaner. But dont get me wrong the staff was really helpful and kind and took the time to show us multiple room options to switch to and they were not surprised about the bugs. If you can afford it definitely stay in a ocean FRONT room because the ocean "view" is just a glimpse of the ocean out the side of your balcony. Also if you can afford more stay at the Royal Lahaina tower or a nicer resort . Also this building has no elevator!! So for anyone handicap make sure to call ahead and make sure you get a first floor room. Pros:I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for an okay place to sleep. Rooms are definitely older but you do get to share the same amenities as the RLR next door and its very convenient to have the luau just next door also. The room came with a tv, dining table, mini fridge, safe but no microwave. Some reviews have complained about the noise of the luau but the luau starts and ends before 10pm so I honestly dont see what the big issue is. It worked out perfectly for us to go to the luau, eat and drink all night then walk over to our room safely. The rooms are also walking distance from the sandy beach or if you want to walk further you can walk down to Black Rock beach and snorkel with sea turtles!! Also highly recommend this little cafe down the walking path next to the building called Castaway cafe! Great food great service and epic views! Also the ice cream shop by the pool is delicious we had it each day here! Overall we would stay here again but maybe splurge on a room upgrade.

The view and location are wonderful, which is why I booked. Previous reviews said that the beds were comfortable. ABSOLUTELY NOT! I didn’t sleep the last two nights of our stay. The sheets were never changed unless there are holes in the same place in all sets of sheets. The coffee cups were never replaced with new, clean ones. And lastly there was mold growing on the ceiling in the bathroom. I am one that doesn’t need a nice room while on vacation because we are going and doing but this was almost too much to bare!

The only good thing of this hotel is being part of the Royal Lahaina Resort, this will give you access to the the resort amenities. For the rest, this was an awful room: old, dirty, falling apart, humid with mold on the shower ceiling. This is not worth the price (including all taxes and fees, we paid $475 for 1 night in a partial ocean view room). Staff was doing their job but not seems to enjoying it. They have a 5 hours gap between check in and check out of new guest and they did not give me flexibility with a later check in, not even for 1 hour. Peking is $35 a night + tax. Overall I would spend a little more and enjoy a better staying.

This would be a very nice Motel 6 in Dumpsterf*cknowhere, Alabama, but for a place on the ocean in Maui, this Inn is completely unacceptable. They pride themselves on being one of the first hotels open in Kaanapali, but they should pride themselves on being the oldest hotel not to renovate anything. The bathroom had no ventilation of any kind and was covered in black mold. The showers water pressure makes me feel like a Civil Rights Activist in the 1960s & the state of repair in general was atrocious. You can expect to see un-repaired holes in the wall, carpet not properly sealed under tile, blood stains on bedding, etc. At least you're getting a great price for a dump right? WRONG! Whatever deal you think you've gotten, mentally add $35 to it each day for a parking fee for THEIR OWN PARKING LOT. Make it $40 a day if you wish to valet. The valet option is especially amazing because they have marked half the parking lot as VALET ONLY, and it's conveniently the closest spots. I'm sure you're pretty upset about this whole parking situation, but just wait till you return from the beach or dinner between the hours of 5-9 and find the entire parking lot is SLAMMED with guests from on-property luau. If you come home between these hours you can expect to park in the far back lot in the dark and hike to your room. I'm not sure if it would make it better or worse if the luau guests we're paying for parking, but at that point I was too infuriated to ask.The location is the only saving grace about this place, but if the location is that important to you, I'd honestly recommend just getting a tent from walmart and camping out in the back parking lot. It's far enough from civilization that the hotel employees probably won't check! You'll be saving yourself some big bucks & will stay in much more sanitary conditions than the Kaanapali Ocean Inn! Mahalo!

Hidden fees, failure to honor booking arrangements and attempts to force us to pay additional dollars to get what we paid for in the first place. We paid $850 for two nights in a room with ants and roaches Stay dates Feb 11, 2023 - Feb 13, 2023 Room type Room with View Number of rooms 1 Length of stay 2 nights Cancellation policy: Immediately upon confirmation, this booking is completely non-refundable and cannot be changed or cancelled.Payment informationGrand TotalTotal ChargedCard$864.03 USDOur room was expensive because it was with an ocean view. When we checked and we were told the fact that we did not have a room with a view and if we wanted one, we had to pay $160 above what we had already paid with the booking.Second, there is a $35 per night parking fee that was not listed in the booking or anywhere on the itineraries. They charge you that plus tax each night. Our room was not made up during the day. Our towels and our blankets and linens were still dirty. We came back in at the end of the day after our journey through Maui. Do not book here it's a tourist trap unfortunately and we booked through Alaska airlines. Very discouraging experience.

While our room offered a beautiful view if the ocean that was about the only positive we can offer (which may be enough depending on your perspective). I will start by saying staff was always friendly, there- another positive! To start, the room had an old, musty smell and it was obvious that the hotel and its appliances haven't been updated since the early 70s. The bathroom shower is equivalent to a stand up fitness center square shower with a toilet in the same small area. The safe was old and didn't work. The mini fridge was old and a wet towel was soaked and dripping from a recent defrosting was still there when we walked in. Very few outlets were accessible and they had these battery powered small LED lights on the bed posts, we're assuming for overhead lighting substitutes that changed colors and turned on and off when you changed channels on the tv (you can't make this stuff up!). Housekeeping showed up twice in the 5 days we stayed and I had to call for replacements of towels and other typical items you get refreshed daily. I asked for Housekeeping to come and instead they just brought towels and admitted they were short staff- understandable during this time and economy, however, they could have communicated this at our check in and told us not to expect daily room service or call for requests rather than us searching for help late in the evening when we come back to rest after the day. The other significant downfall to this inn is that is directly next to the resorts luau, so you get a LOUD nightly show they extends to the staff practicing late afterwards. One night it's fun and neat...3 nights in...not to much. Additionally, resort fees do not get you anything except towels. You need to rent anything else despite the falsely alluding comments on the website. The food and drinks are very pricey- go downtown Lahaina if you can, better food and prices. Parking is also not included in prices so prepare for that if you have a rental. Overall wish we had gone somewhere else.

A disgusting and insidious experience - one of the worst place I have ever stayed. Came here with my wife, and after seeing how unbelievably bad this place was, we are hitting our heads that we did not check the Google reviews soon enough. Despite the owner’s insistence in EVERY NEGATIVE REVIEW’S REPLY that the standards will be better, nothing has changed. We echo the exact thoughts of all the previous reviews, with comments of our own:- cockroaches skittering around. No joke.- everything was dusty (lights, tv, floors). The AC blows terrible odor that engulfs the room, and also directly onto the bed.- very thin walls. You could hear people talking in the hallway every time they pass by.- black mold and grout in the corners of the bedroom, bathroom, and cabinets.- Like others, hidden charges are everywhere (extra $30 parking fee + $45 “resort” fee + $10 “idk what” fee). There are 10x better value places to stay at.- this is more subtle, but I can’t feel that once the check-in knows that you are staying at KOI vs the Royal Lahaina (the sister and adjacent and more expensive hotel), they know they can stop caring. Couldn’t even give me my keys to check in when I first spoke to them and tried to check in, and I had to run across the resort to go back and TELL THEM “hey, you didn’t give me my keys.”I have never left such a negative review at such a place before, but I feel compelled to do so to help warn others and make these flaws more apparent for the next happy couple that is looking to stay in Maui. Like a previous reviewer, I wish I could leave zero stars.
