We took a family trip here. Our son in law provided his travel knowledge & this place was great in all aspects! If you're ever going to travel to Maui; The Mahana is the place to be! We had a room on the 11th floor & it was amazing. The view day or night was great out of our room. The beach is right about 10-12 feet below us. At night, if you leave your balcony door open, you can hear the water crashing on the shore below. The ocean waves therapeutically puts you in a restful state of mind & body. My wife & I totally enjoyed being away from Los Angeles, Ca hustle & bustle of the big city life. It's about 45 mins away from the airport. This place provides: full kitchen in each room, tv with cable, wi-fi & full service pool & jacuzzi, smoking area, & a great service staff. It's a home away from home. No restaurant (you can prepare & eat at your room or suite). There are markets within walking distance. Big plus a Costco within 10 min of the airport. It was a gift from our daughter & her hubby. Our other daughter, her hubby, our granddaughters went as well! It was a superb family trip. Both relaxing & overall taken back by scenic sunsets & beautiful ocean views. The beach is spectacular both day & night. Such serenity from sun, ocean, sand & wind. Occasionally drizzle of light shower but nice rainbows for a finish. There are 6 grilles fir your convenience open for your use. Though no food is served, there are vending machines available. The main focus is peace, calm & tranquility for you! All the rooms face the ocean, beach & sunset! If you book ahead the spring season is the best! Weather is warm & mostly sunny @70's. Bring a positive attitude & open mind for an experience of a lifetime. Once you've been, I'm sure you'll want to come back! We do! Thank You Chris & J.D. You both for it! Our bday gift! Thank Mahana & Staff. Mahalo

We stayed here in December for our honeymoon, and if I could go back in time, I would definitely book elsewhere. Beyond the view being beautiful and the direct access to the beach, the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali leaves much to be desired. There are minimal amenities - no restaurant / bar or gym onsite. Your room will not be serviced, which is fine because we typically don't let people service our room but the towels are definitely a far cry from luxurious. The pillows are flat and only two are provided. Also the construction is so loud that there is no way for you to stay in the room while hey are working and construction starts at 8 am and goes until 4 pm so if you were planning on having a quiet day around the resort or if you have an early excursion and want an afternoon nap, any remotely quiet time in your room is out of the question. There is also direct beach access but if you plan on going swimming, you will have to walk about half a mile so that you won't be stepping on the coral reef, which you are not supposed to be stepping / walking on. While it is in a nice location, there are many other hotels with more amenities, a beach that you can actually go into the water and less construction that I would choose over this hotel.

This resort is heaven on earth. to be so close to the water. The sound of the crashing waves made for the perfect background noise to s marvelous vacation. The resort is quiet, intimate, very well kept.

- To be fair I have to admit that the view from our unit window (as well as any other unit, I assume) was amazing. The hotel is located a few feet from the ocean so we enjoyed watching turtles a couples of times and seals. The sunset was breathtaking. This is the only plus I can recall. - Now negatives. This property includes 200+ privately owned units, managed by a management company. Although the units should have same layout and similar set of furniture, the owners make decision about their units’ renovation and upgrades. So pictures you see on the Aston Mohana website are the pictures of one specific unit of each category. And as you imagine this is he best and most upgraded. Our unit had old furniture, squeaky beds, and a pile of used tiles in the closet. This is far from The Premium unit we booked. - Beach. The beach in the front of the hotel is non-swimmable because of the rocks. We were told by the swimmable beach is 3 min from the hotel. This is not true. We had to walk at least 20 min to get a swimmable spot without rocks and corals. - Facilities are very dated. The beach chairs are rusty. I have never seen such a small pool. They do publish pictures on their website, but they don’t reflect the reality: small, dated area with construction materials stacked everywhere including the pool area. It is so contrasting (in a bad way) the neighboring Westin resort! - Service is poor. There was one friendly customer service representative, the all others were rude and irresponsive. - And finally – Construction. They had sent me a note in advance, that there was some renovation ongoing in the hotel, but I could not imagine this could be so horrible. Because of loud noise, every day we had to make sure to leave our room before 7:30 and not return until 4:30. The construction materials are stacked everywhere, the are ropes and other equipment handing on the façade. Beware of the Reviews rating in TripAdvisor, as these can be inflated by the unit owners. I found reviews on booking.com (left by the people who stayed in the hotel) – more accurate. I deliberately posted such detailed review so that the people would not make our mistake with booking this hotel - stay away!

The location and grounds of the Mahana are beautiful, clean and conveniently located steps from the beach! Local grocery, food trucks, shops and beach boardwalks are a short walk away! We will be back to make more memories!

Wonderful location & view. Facilities were fantastic. Staff were friendly. Perfect place for relaxation. It’d be better if meals options were available. I’d definitely stay there again & strongly recommend it.

I have stayed at the Mahana several times and have never been disappointed. Brian and his staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The views cannot be beat. I would go to this location again and again.

We have always stayed in a hotel while visiting Maui but decided to try an apartment this time. The Aston Mahana exceeded our expectations as it was a fully stocked apartment with a washer and dryer in each unit. The view was spectacular and if you want a full on ocean view, this is the place to stay! The shoreline is approximately 40 feet from each unit and there is an unobstructed view of the ocean. We watched the sun set from our large, private lanai each night and slept to the sound of rolling waves. The apartment was clean, tastefully decorated and the bed was comfortable. The community BBQ grills were also exceptionally clean! The pool area gets shade during the afternoon but there are lounge chairs on the grass between the complex and the shoreline that we used more than the pool area as it got full sun all day. The shore in front of the Mahana is rocky and not suitable for swimming. However, just a short distance away, the rocks turn to a nice sandy beach so a quick stroll will put you right on the beach. Parking was easy, the staff was friendly, and the location was ideal. We will definitely return to the Aston Mahana when we return to Maui! Exceptional in every way!

Read previous note. We did not have a great stay at your hotel. Fortunately we remained kind to your staff as they didn’t know how to make things right. We just put up with the lousy room and felt badly that we didn’t get what we paid for.

OVERALL A NICE PLACE TO STAY BUT BEWARE BEFORE BOOKING. My husband and I have been visiting Maui and staying at the Mahana for the past 17 years which is why I am giving the Mahana a great rating overall. The oceanfront views from every unit can't be beat. The complex has a pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts, and barbecue grills. Each unit has a full kitchen, lanai, and washer and dryer. There is a lovely boardwalk that will take you through the various resorts along Kaanapali beach, and the complex is within walking distance to a grocery store, restaurants, and other stores. We have had the pleasure of staying in Mahana #1106 on multiple occasions, most recently in October 2021. The unit is as lovely as described in other reviews about it. In fact, we liked it so much that in January of 2022 we again booked #1106 through VRBO for travel in March of 2023 to celebrate a special occasion. In June, we received an email from Maui Paradise Properties advising that they were the new property management company for Mahana #1106. The email stated that they would be honoring our original booking and would be working with the prior property management company on the backside, presumably to provide for a seamless transition. Four months later, however, after we had already purchased our airline tickets and booked our car rental, we received another email from Maui Paradise Properties advising that they would NOT be honoring our original reservation after all. Rather, they advised that, "per the contract with the owner", if we wanted to keep our reservation we would need to pay a new, much higher rate. Otherwise, they would cancel our booking and refund our deposit. Because we felt it was completely inappropriate to have to pay more money for a reservation we had already made months prior, the booking was canceled and we began scrambling to find another available unit - one not managed by Maui Paradise Properties. I don't know if it was the owner or Maui Paradise Properties or both who made the decision not to honor our booking. Regardless, to advise a guest 10 months after booking their reservation that it will be canceled unless we agree to pay a significantly higher rate is not only terrible customer service, it is unethical and may also be illegal. The fact that the owner changed property management companies months after we had booked the unit should have had no impact on our existing reservation. I definitely recommend the Mahana overall but strongly urge you to think twice before booking Mahana #1106 because the rate you're provided at the time of booking may be changed on you later, leaving you in the lurch if you don't agree to pay a lot more money. I also urge you to do your research on Maui Paradise Properties before booking ANY property that has them as their property management company (reviews on Google and the Better Business Bureau website are good places to start).

The location is right on the water and very romatic. Unfortunately during our stay at the resort they were undergoing construction with started at 7:30 am daily. The noise of a jackhammer ruined several days of the trip forcing us to escape the property early and have no use of the pool and shoreline. There was no way to sleep through the noise. It was overwhelming.

Stayed here with my wife for our honeymoon. Stayed 5 nights and enjoyed the the view from our first level room. But the main reason for my 1 star is solely for the construction going on that ruined our stay. We looked at previous reviews to get a feel for some short comings we may experience and noticed a review from OVER A YEAR ago that mentioned construction. With the thought that one year was enough time to complete a renovation project (generally is more than enough time) we thought we would book a stay and construction wouldn't be a concern. Construction went on directly above us every morning starting at 730 and continued on through the day. Like I mentioned, this ruined our honeymoon. There was no lower rate offered, no meal vouchers for a restaurant nearby...NOTHING. I'd make sure there wasn't any construction going on before booking your stay, otherwise your relaxing time at the beach will be filled with loud drills and early morning wake ups.

They put us in a room with construction going on all around us just to be woken up at 7AM to construction noises. Also, we are the only guests on the side of the hotel with construction. Concrete and saw dust covered most of the room. The room had tile floor that was coming undone and almost cracking wherever you walk. They refuse to move us to a new room even though we ask over and over again. I will never stay here again and I urge everyone to find another resort to stay at.

We stayed here May 18th-21st and had a terrible stay due to construction on half of the property. This wasn't disclosed at booking or at check in. We requested a room in the other tower and were told no rooms were available. Any chance we had of enjoying the ocean views from our patio were ruined by the hammering and drilling noises coming from the walls next door. We requested to speak with a manager at check out and were told they were in a meeting a would give us a call which we've yet to receive. Guests shouldn't be staying in this tower at all, let alone being charged a full rate. I can't speak for the rest of the hotel as it was entirely overshadowed by the construction noise and poor management.

This is a great place to stay! We were able to get a ground floor unit that was perfect. Nicely decorated and had everything we needed! View is awesome. Oceanfront. Not a loud crowed big resort. Conceirge Kate was so kind and helpful. Thank you! Brand new BBQs. Pool alittle small but you are literally on the beach. The grounds are just beautiful. We will be back for sure!
