This is part of Marriott's Maui Ocean Club, it may be sold as a hotel but is also a timeshare. It is a beautiful place but as a Vacation Club Owner for nearly 20 years we have been swindled out of our stay on multiple occasions. We paid a capital cost to be a member which was substantial. We also pay maintenance fees of $3,700 for a week every year for a high view 2 bedroom 1400 square foot unit as of 2023. This is far more than it was when we first joined. Now, 3 times because of no fault of our own the resort has not been available. All good reasons you could argue. In 2023, there are terrible fires that I am so sad to hear about. The loss of life is horrible and like many others I have donated to the charities to try to help make a difference for the folks that have to go through this. That being said Marriott Vacation Club has many options to compensate me for a service I have paid for. They have 56 properties that they could offer me time in. They could offer options for last minute stays where inventory is available at these properties. They could offer points at Marriott Hotels, they could offer many things and they are offering nothing. Absolutely nothing. Alaska Airlines is happy to refund my flights because this is a tragedy and there is no place to stay on Maui and so Alaska recognizes that I can't use their service. With Marriott Vacation Club you are out of luck. Now mind you, we did not want to go in August to Maui, but it was the only week that we could find this year. It was the only one available to us. Evidently we do not spend enough to get the access to units 13 months in advance only 12 months. This timeshare is not a service. It is a sales scam. I would not recommend this hotel or the service to anyone. Please do not let them convince you like they did me. Corporate greed at its best.

We recently returned to the Marriott Ocean Club for a 6 night stay, we stayed here 4 years ago. Our room was on the third floor with an island view and partial Ocean view. The room was very nice, and so were the staff. We had a great stay because the location and facilities are excellent. You never need to stray far from this Vacation club they have a communal kitchen, laundry, BBQ grills outside. The Whalers village is a short walk from the Hotel if need dining out plus there are other dining options at and near the Hotel. We ate out several times, and we found most food and service in Maui to be lacking for the exception of one restaurant named Japengo at the Hyatt Regency. We would like to particularly thank staff member Imelda Martinez for her exceptional customer service, she went above and beyond when we needed something. We would also like to mention Elvira who was also extremely helpful when we asked for stuff. If I had to Knock anything, it would be their Valet and self-parking rates are pretty outrageous. Also their Happy hour at the pool bar is very limited to 1 hour and they don’t offer any food on happy hour menu.

The place is great, location is better. The problem with this resort is that you pay a ton of money to come here, and they clean your room once a week. Seriously? Their excuse is that they are “short on staff”. Pay them better and you’ll have enough people.I pay a fortune to go to a Marriot and I have to make the beds, take out the trash, etc!?My recommendation? Go to a real hotel, avoid the Marriot until they fix this.

My review is strictly for the spa. Not happy with it. The actual massage was so so but I paid for 80 minutes of spa time. One therapist showed a little late. My wife laid down 5 minutes before me and got up 10 minutes after me. That's 15 minutes of an 80 minute massage that I was jipped. Frustrating because I left a 20% tip before the massage happened.I'll be clear that I'm not reviewing the hotel it was wonderful. I'm not reviewing the massage because massages are so subjective per the person. Just not happy with being ripped off a significant percentage of time.Rooms: Fine. Don't like the A/C restrictions but whatever.Nearby activities: Food and shopping at whalers villageWalkability: Great beach walkFood & drinks: Lots of options close by

The rooms are fine, nothing spectacular for sure and the service is great. Being right at the beach is great and the amenities are nice but being trapped by resorts and resort priced goods is not. Personally would prefer less separation from town and non resort businessesRooms: I would best describe the rooms as perfectly adequate.Nearby activities: Beach, pools, lots of overpriced tours and rentals.Walkability: It's about 2 miles to the nearest non-resort business and town, the walk is almost all paved and along the coast.Food & drinks: Most of the food has been great just priced double what you'd pay away from the resorts.

Decent location but a bit away from the action. The Westin hotel is much closer to where all the restaurants, shopping, bars and sandy beaches are. Are. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk from this hotel to where all the restaurants and shopping are. Not to impressed with the pool area, especially for kids. There is one very small slide, and a medium slide. The hotel is situated on a beach that is very rocky with very little sandy beach.

This is our favorite vacation spot and we are happy anytime we get to go back! We have vacationed here with our family, with little ones and teens, and everyone has a great time. There are activities for all age groups. It’s also a nice relaxing vacation spot for moms and dads to getaway and recharge. I’m already looking forward to our next visit.

The ocean view is amazing and the pools and hot tub feel so nice, if you don’t have a ocean view the views are not as nice but the hotel makes up for it.

The rooms are old and the service is lacking service. Our room's AC leaked water all over out suitcase, clothing, and shoes. There are more signs with restrictions all over the place than I can count and the staff spends more time telling guests what not to do than provide hospitality service. If you like freedom, this is not the place. The best part about this I'm resort is The Hyatt next door.Rooms: Not only are the rooms old and outdated, but the restrictions with the AC are horrible. Forget about waking into a cool room after sending the day under the sun. You're going to walk into a hot room and wait 20 minutes for it to cool down.Food & drinks: Not much to eat. We tried each of the 3 restaurants but never went back. The burger at the pool was great but the fish and chips was horrible and obviously frozen.Noteworthy details: We noticed staff walking around enforcing the rules but never to see how you are doing.

Stayed there for a week in February. Fantastic place to stay. A green sea turtle would visit our beach daily and watch all the guests at the resort.

I definitely recommend this place. There were a few things that could’ve made our stay just a little bit better, but the service from the friendly & helpful staff (especially the concierge!) was such a plus that it outweighed the negatives in my book. The location is obviously amazing. In addition to the beach, they have so many pools & plenty of space to lay out & play out!Our “little” one-bedroom suite was Oceanfront, but also has a great view of the beautiful pool, too. The room is beautiful & bigger than expected! 2 Full bathrooms was a nice plus for my wife & I, access to Netflix on the TV was a bonus, and the bed was SO comfortable. No stove in this kitchenette, but we knew that when we booked & what we have is more than we need. The concierge was INCREDIBLY helpful! She helped us plan out & book a week of excursions & activities. She knew the differences between all the various options, made excellent recommendations and worked to make sure I was getting the best price - even if that meant booking directly myself on my phone or calling them directly. Can’t thank her enough!! P.S. If we were coming back, I’d call the hotel a few weeks ahead to work with her to book some things ahead of time. We got lucky that we could do everything we wanted, but some stuff wasn’t open the days/times we wanted, etc.The ONLY actual negative for us was the restaurant Longhi's Kaanapali. By the time we got to the Marriott & checked in, it looked like this was the only place on the property that was open for dinner. The food was … fine? Looked like it was made with sauce packets & a microwave. Still priced like a high-end restaurant, though. Skip this spot. Go off property if you must. Also, while there really is plenty of stuff within walking distance, there’s a ton that’s JUST kinda out of range down in Lahaina. It’s like an hour & a half walk, but would only be a 15-20 minute bike ride. If this resort kept even just a small fleet of 10 bicycles on property for guests to use (even to rent by the hour) it would substantially elevate the place! Could be first come, first serve - I’d have been impressed that they offer this even if I couldn’t get one every time. There are places nearby that rent bikes, but they’re expensive daily/weekly rentals - and you still have to get there! I’m familiar with other resorts that offer this service (i.e. Eau Palm Beach in South Florida) and would be such an amazing option for guests that didn’t rent a car.

My family of 4 stayed at this property in October after receiving a Marriott promotional offer. The resort is a bit dated, probably has been 15 or so years since it was last updated. Upon entering our first room, there was a huge crack over the majority of the sliding glass door overlooking the mountains. The crack was covered by clear tape and really took away from the view. We called to switch our room. Second room had no crack. Our room was clean, with the exception of tiny black bugs on the kitchen island. We called the maintenance about this issue twice while we were here. We stayed for a great price, so feel I can't complain too much, but also the beach access was inaccessible. There were metal bars up all around the walking path and we would have to take detours to get to the beach access, or even to walk to Wahlers village. This hotel was in a great location, but the disturbances with beach access and the dated resort is the main reason for my 4-star review.

Great location and view, but sub par drinks and a non functional tap system for beer. Not the Marriott experience we were used to. Excellent service from staff.

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. From the gorgeous location to the staff who recommended a running route for my long run, it was amazing. If you happen to be traveling with family and need some time to get away, I highly recommend the owners lounge. It's a beautiful place to sit and relax as the sun sets.

Another great property for second week. Restaurants are amazing, the Chef is phenomenal. Beautiful property with so much to do. Nice rooms with ocean view. Friendly staff.
