Yelp says Maui Surfboards is temporary Lee closed. It has been open every day since the fire it seems like yelp is trying to destroy another small business. It keeps bad reviews from years ago on top of a pile of hundreds of five star reviews that’s downright evil.

10 stars. Wayne is one of the most kind hearted and authentic people I have met in my life. He's a Hawaiian legend and his sweet and jolly energy is Aloha. I'm so happy I was able to cross paths with him and support his business. His rentals are awesome with great products and selection of ukuleles. I think many tourists fail to understand and miss out on the cultural and spiritual importance of the Hawaiian's connection to its people and land. Wayne and his business are a direct extension of this connection. Respect and support local businesses, people, and land. I'm honored to call Wayne my friend now and look forward to returning for more rentals, ukulele sessions, and to hear his stories. Love you!

Super friendly, totally reasonable prices (much lower than I expected), and you can rent for as many days as you need. We were in and out in 5 minutes with a boogie board and life jackets for the kids. Saved us a bunch of money vs. renting from our Condo's shop, thanks Maui Surfboards!!!

Wayno was awesome! He helped us quickly and even suggested some additional rental options that made our beach excursions a breeze. Prices were so cheap and the equipment was in good condition. I'll be renting from Wayno anytime I come back to Maui!

Nice place, cool dudes that work there. Great prices.Why the 2 stars? Both bodyboards we rented had leashes that were inoperable. The velcro was so worn out on both of these boards that on the first wave both boards came off our hands. Completely unacceptable, leashes are cheap, why skimp there ?We only could bodyboard one day, and we couldn't bring it back that day for replacement. Just check your leashes with them, put them on and tug on it.

Wayno is the best, he sucks at playing ukulele but let him play anyway Best deals on surfboards and snorkeling gear, I love supporting local businesses while in paradise and showing the locals love . Ask Wayno about other locally owned businesses like best places to eat , shopping and even renting cars ... Thanks Wayno for being so cool

Wayne's been around from when Maui was chill to what it is now. Many visitors understand aloha and respect, many are oblivious. Wayne will tell you what's up. Support Wayne's business and support local businesses, rather than a Walmart type competitor whose owner lives in California. Who can't even surf. Aloha

We went to rent some snorkels and Wayno, the owner was so nice to us! He explained their outdoor setup for covid and we appreciated the changes they had made. He also said they were not renting snorkels now because of covid but had Speedo snorkels and fins for $75 a set for sale. SOLD! He then gave us some noodles for free and encouraged us to be still in the water to see more. He thanked us for helping keep the lights on and we talked a while about the challenges of covid. He was a delight to visit with and we are off to snorkel!

We have rented, bought and sold boards at various places on Maui, and recommend avoiding this place! The rental price was high to begin with, but it was convenient that day. When we returned the boards, we realized one of them had a small crack and also a dent on the bottom. Of course we took responsibility and wanted to pay for the damage but the guy way over charged us, saying he would have to charge our card on file $195! When my son asked him how much a repair kit costs he said, “I don’t know.” That’s a straight up lie. You run a surf board rental business and you don’t know how much a repair kit costs?! Please, repair kits are under $15. We asked if we could buy the board instead, and he said it would be $700! We looked them up online and they are less than $500 brand new. I hope this review will prevent others from getting ripped off and discourage dishonest business practices on Maui. Ripping people off is not Aloha.

A little shady. Up charged us once we got there and would’ve charged us for damage on the board had I not had a picture of the board at pickup. Later went to a more reputable shop and had a much better experience. Owner did give us some good pointers for beginners.
