Making a reservation was very easy, Jim volunteered extremely useful and relevant information in regards to expected weather conditions at the time of our stay and very clearly explained the process for pick up and drop off. We then had an unexpected change to our trip and had to cancel, which was also very easy and efficient. I’ve liven on Oahu for several years and regularly rent vehicles on outer islands, even though we didn’t end up using the vehicle it was still the best customer service I’ve had in the state.

If you want the best chance of being stranded on a nearly uninhabited island with very few paved roads and little to no cell service, then this is the place for you. Hence the name, cheap Jeeps. Which is comical because they are one of the most expensive Jeep rental places on the island.
Let’s talk about the Jeep. Was given the Jeep with scratches and mountain pinstriping all down the side plus body damage from the doors, swinging open and breaking their restraints and hitting the body. The doors are held on the vehicle with pieces of cord. Wasn’t even washed between rentals. Bald tires, shredded, torn upholstery with astro turf floor mats, check engine light on and a loose, clunky front end with worn out suspension bushings that struggles to stay in its own lane even at the reduced speed limits on the island.
Once you see this piece of junk they want to give you and you ask if there are any other jeeps they say; no sorry this is the only Jeep we have left. If you want to get your money back and rent from a different company, again sorry, no refunds. They are nice and polite until they get your money and then it’s a completely different story.
Jim, the employee that works there profusely apologized for the condition of the vehicle and then had the nerve to try and up charge me after I returned the vehicle for damage that not only was done by someone else, it was the exact damage that they apologized to me about when I picked it up.
Gail, the owner was nice enough to originally give me the local’s rate on the jeep. I think this infuriated Jim and he was going to make up the difference by up charging me. After several conversations with Gail, who was on vacation at the time of the rental, I was promised on at least four occasions that the up charge would be refunded to my credit card. It was not. I ended up having to take up the matter with my credit card company.
Don’t take my word for it, read some of the other reviews about this place. Stay away! I wouldn’t use this place if it was the only rental company on island that had jeeps. They will lie to you and they will overcharge you because let’s face it, you’re tourists and you’re not coming back.
FYI. There are several other rental companies and you can rent Jeeps through, nice jeeps, new jeeps, undamaged jeeps for the same price you can rent a jalopy for.

Renting from Lanai Cheap Jeeps and meeting Gail transformed our day trip to Lanai into an unforgettable adventure!
Gail isn't just a rental agent - she's a Lanai native, island authority, and local celebrity all rolled into one. Everywhere we went, people knew her and talked fondly about her, which speaks volumes about her reputation on this beautiful remote island.
The service was seamless from start to finish. Our jeep was waiting in the parking lot when we stepped off the ferry. Gail met us for breakfast, spread out a map, and crafted the perfect game plan for exploring Lanai. Her insider knowledge and recommendations were absolutely invaluable - she knew exactly where to send us for the best experiences.
What truly set Gail apart was her genuine care for our safety and experience. When an unexpected tsunami warning occurred during our visit, Gail was the FIRST person to call and text us, alerting us that the ferry was departing earlier than scheduled due to weather conditions. Her quick communication and thorough information ensured we made it back safely.
Gail's combination of professionalism, local expertise, kindness, and genuine concern for her customers makes her an absolute gem. I've already shared her contact information with friends and family visiting Maui - a day trip to Lanai with one of Gail's jeeps is a must-do!
Thank you, Gail, for making our Lanai exploration so special and keeping us safe during unexpected weather. You're the best! Can't wait to come back!

Jim at Lanai Cheap Jeeps was amazing to work with. He helped me plan my itinerary for maximizing sightseeing on the beautiful island and also told my family some interesting historical facts about it. We really appreciated his kindness and hospitality. The Jeep itself was new and very clean and the rental price was very fair. I highly recommend this rental company!

She ghosted us. We booked a few weeks out and she seemed so lovely on the phone, but then on the day of the booking we took the shuttle into town to pick up the jeep and she just never responded again. She didn’t charge us or anything but it was a bummer.

Jimmy was great! Even picked us up when the shuttle dropped us off at wrong location. Jeep was in good condition and let us tour the island easily. Can't do better on Lana'i!!

I can't say enough positive things about this company. They deserve the highest rating possible and you can't go wrong using them for your rental car needs while on Lana'i.
The TLDR version of my review is this: Great customer service, reliable and clean vehicle, easy hassle free pick up and drop off process, you will enjoy your stay on Lana'i so much better renting one of their off road Jeeps that will allow you to go see the sights that are off the paved roads. My understanding is that they have your rental ready for you at the airport when you arrive, you just have to jump in and go. I had a unique situation I will describe in detail below so I had to make other arrangements but we were able to just leave the Jeep at the airport when we were ready to fly out. Real easy process.
Here's the long version. I originally reserved a vehicle with a different rental company. We flew to the Lana'i airport from Maui, ready to pick up our rental and were informed by that company that they did not have a vehicle to give us. I hesitate to even mention that company's name in case someone is tempted to use them but every potential customer needs to know that if you try to use ACE Rent A Car you are gambling with your entire vacation. Don't be surprised by the lack of communication and potential to not even get a vehicle. Lana'i is a tiny island. there aren't any major national brands to rent from. Go with Lana'i Cheap Jeeps. They literally saved our vacation and went way above and beyond what I was expecting to make sure we had a great visit to the island they call home. After ACE left us stranded without a ride I was able to find the phone number for Lana'i Cheap Jeeps. When I called Jim answered. Even though he wasn't working and was actually away travelling himself, he coordinated with his business associates to figure out how to get us a rental. He even arranged for us to use his personal vehicle briefly until we could get one of their rental Jeeps. Just think about that for a second, he wasn't supposed to be working and he still took the time to put together a last minute rental for us. He even let us drive his personal vehicle until they could get a Jeep ready. I've never had that level of customer service from any other rental company I have ever dealt with. The actual rental went really well. We picked it up from Lauren, who gave us a lot of recommendations for areas we should visit and we had a great time seeing the off road sights on the island. The paved roads are only between the major areas (town, the airport, etc.) so if you want to see things like the Garden of the Gods (great for a sunset view), the cat sanctuary, the Kaunolu Village Site area, or Shipwreck Beach you will need a vehicle you're comfortable driving on dirt paths that are often bumpy or even very rocky. The 4x4 Jeep really made the trip so much better. You can go places where you might not see another person for hours at a time. We ended up having a great time on the island and our plans were saved by Lana'i Cheap Jeeps. I will definitely be renting from them when I return to Lana'i in the future. Thank you Jim, Gail, and Lauren of Lana'i Cheap Jeeps for saving us from ACE.

I can’t recommend Jim and Lanai Cheap Jeeps enough! Jim was so helpful in everything from picking an ideal day to travel to Lanai to getting transportation to the city where we would pick up our jeep.
He made sure the trip was seamless and that we were able to navigate the island and see and do everything we wanted to!

Lanai cheap jeeps absolutely saved my day trip to Lanai. Gail and Jimmy were great, and got me a jeep on extremely short notice on a Saturday morning. A different local place I had booked with had their jeep break, and I found out about it once I was in the island already needing a jeep. I'd suggest renting from this company if you'll be visiting the island, they have excellent customer service and a large fleet of jeeps (and I think a bronco).

Jim and team at Cheap Jeeps were awesome! When we arrived he gave us an idea of things to do that would take the entire day as well as suggestions for where to eat. Definitely worth the trip and would highly recommend going with them! We had a fantastic day on Lanai and will be back for sure!

We rented a Jeep to explore the island of Lana'i and Jim at Cheap Jeeps delivered the Jeep to us at our VRBO. Jim gave us a great list of places to see, including maps & other info to help us find our way around. Total respect for customer service above & beyond what we'd anticipated. Highly recommended!

Terrible service, didn’t help us out through email, then stoped replying to our emails and made us call and spent a lot in roaming just to let us know there were no cars available. Can’t be trusted.
