Never again. After picking up the car and driving down the highway, we discovered that the windows were really dirty. It was as though they wiped them inside with a dirty rag. When I called to confirm our ride back to the airport, they informed me that they were closed at that time. Finally gave me a number of the woman who shuttles for them in the off hours. They neglected to tell me that she was off the island at that time. We were finally able to schedule a cab that would take us that early. They were terrible communicators and just didn't care.

Allsave is a great alternative. We saved about 25% over the competitors. Our car rental previously canceled and we got this one the day of for a great price about $120 less than what we paid for the other place. They were swamped with customers, but we got through the line in about five minutes instead of about an hour with some of the big name companies. The manager said he was new at that location but handled it like a pro.The cars had a few blemishes here and there and a little dirty, but we will definitely come back. The staff was very attentive and were getting customers in and out of the checkin process within about five minutes. Incredible service.

Worst experience in car rental. Didn’t show up at cruse terminal. Took a lift $12.00. Stood in line for 30 minutes they said short staff. I already prepaid and did all paperwork and still waited 40 minutes to check in. Got the car and still had to wait for employee to get all paperwork done. Do not rent with this company.

This rental company is by far the worst we’ve ever rented from, we got the first car and it was pretty beat up, the carpet on the passenger side looked like it was ripped out and never put back, the alignment was way off I had to constantly fight the car to drive straight, the brakes definitely needed to be changed, the seatbelts didn’t work and the interior smelled like chemicals. It looked like they wiped the interior with tire shine and the smell pretty much confirmed that. When we called to let them know we needed to exchange it due to the safety issue with the seatbelts they said it wasn’t an issue so we drove down almost an hour to exchange it. When we arrived the kid at the counter told us they weren’t responsible for mechanical problems but they would put us in a minivan if we wanted a different car. The minivan wasn’t any better, the windshield wipers needed to be replaced, the rear windows were broken and the transmission was shifting hard. I don’t understand how a rental company isn’t responsible for mechanical problems with their cars, and why on an island with constant rain the wipers of all things aren’t functioning properly because they’re worn out. We will definitely be avoiding this place when we come back to Kauai, we’ll pay a little extra next time to be in a safe car.

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY. -I am not exaggerating when I say I called them 15 times and did it get a call back.-After confirming that my rental was reinstated after I had canceled it, I was informed - upon my arrival at the airport - that there were no cars available. lt took multiple calls before anyone answered, and the agent was extremely rude.-Luckily, Avis came through for me.I gave this rental agency a try because the price was great. But, as the old saying goes, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.DO NOT RENT A CAR FEOM THIS COMPANY.

Do NOT rent from Nu on Kauai, Hawaii. (FYI Allsave Car Rental and Nu act as the same company at this address.) I had a terrible experience with them. First of all, you have to wait for their shuttle to take you from the airport to their office on Rice Street, i.e, they are not located as part of the airport car rentals. Written instructions I had said to call the number to request the shuttle -- I called the number several times and no one answered/all I could do was leave a message, which caused me worry. Eventually a shuttle came...just a van with about 8 seats and about 30 of us had arrived via plane to rent from Nu. The shuttle driver was "shocked" we all arrived at once -- it's an island, so people can only come so many ways, and by plane all at once is going to happen often, I assume. I was lucky enough to get on the shuttle during the first round of transfers, but then it was a terrible wait at the office...hot and long. There was one person working the desk and he never said anything like "sorry for the wait" to those of us waiting. He helped the one guy at the desk already, then there was one person in front of me, then me. I waited 40 minutes in line. It was hot and terrible, and I felt bad for the many people still in line behind me. One time the shuttle driver came in and started yelling saying that shuttling us was "doing us a favor," which was just unfortunate and not true...shuttling us from the airport to the rental office is part of the required experience for renting from Nu. Anyway, there was no aloha here, I regret starting my Kauai experience like this, and wish I would have just spent whatever money I saved to rent from another company. (Btw, I asked when I picked up my car how I would get back to the airport when I would drop off the car, as I was concerned about having to wait for several groups of people to be shuttled to the airport and potentially missing my flight. The guy told me that it would be faster going back to the airport, as someone like a washer guy could just hop in the car and drive me to the airport. Well, no, this was wrong. When I dropped off, no one had any idea what I was talking about about driving me to the airport in the car, and I had to wait for the shuttle. It worked out for me and I didn't miss my flight, but there's nothing about Nu that I can trust.) Just go with another company.

While definitely a budget car rental service, everything went very smoothly and the car was good enough for the trip. If the price is right for your rental, don't hesitate to use this service. While offsite from the airport, the shuttle was relatively convenient (took around 10 minutes of waiting and 5 minutes to drive). Check in took around 5 minutes and we were off. Drop off was also easy. Car was relatively high mileage and not the greatest but did the trick. If you specifically need an off road vehicle like a jeep this might not be the best company for you.

I recently had the pleasure of utilizing the services of NU CAR RENTAL for the first time last October 2-8, 2023.I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I made my reservation thru priceline, to the moment I've met their staff who was incredibly helpful and very accommodating lady. The VAN I rented was in impeccable condition, clean, and well-maintained. The entire process, from pick-up to drop-off, was seamless and efficient. The customer service was top-notch, and the team went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met. I was particularly impressed by their attention to detail and their willingness to answer all of my questions with patience and professionalism while on the island.Additionally, the pricing was fair and transparent, without any hidden fees or surprises. The flexibility in terms of rental duration and return options was a significant plus, making it convenient for my travel needs.I highly recommend NU CAR RENTALS to anyone in need of reliable and hassle-free van and car rental services in Kaua'i!They truly exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely be a returning customer in the future.

This business is also Nu car rental. We rented a car on Kauai in October. Shortly after getting the car the oil light came on. I called the agency to ask what to do. They had me verify the car mileage and the sticker that said when an oil change was due. I was told to add one quart of synthetic oil. I saved my receipt it when I returned the car they refused to reimburse me saying all service had to be done on site. I had specifically called to ask what to do and followed their instructions. The agency is off site and we waited 30 minutes for a shuttle. Go somewhere else.

My husband and his biz partner flew in from Maui & Big Island for a community meeting for kupuna and rented their car from this store. The Aloha spirit is in this place. My husband lost his wallet and new android phone in a restaurant in Lihui. Mr. Jim E at this store told the guys he would personally go to the restaurant to look for it as he said, "Kauai is small, and we all know each other here." We understand this because Maui is the same and has pulled together and is supporting each other after the tragic wildfires that destroyed Lahaina and parts of upcountry. When my husband told me that Mr. Jim would go, I was hopeful but not expecting anything to be returned. We just received a call from Mr. J. and he said he went to the restaurant and found the phone and wallet with all cards and money inside! I am blown away from the true Aloha spirit shown by this gentleman. Mahalo nui loa! We are so very grateful and feel blessed to have met Mr. J. a man of his word who embodies what it means to be an example to the community.
