Two 59 year old women just got chased out of the parking lot (6 pm ish) by a young man in - khaki pants, a hoody, no identification and accusatory demeanor. He's either someone employed or posing as security without identification by the shopping center or one of the businesses. Here's what happened: After a wonderful day on North side of island we returned to Marriott/ Royal Sonesta ... ( where we ironically have a parking place) opting to first stop at abc store and Hawaiian styles to purchase our souvenirs and some water... and for the first time we drove - because it was dark, we were in our car - and it just made sense. We park, by abc store trash cans, exit car and notice Hawaiian styles is closing/ taking down their merch. So we head in that direction, knowing exactly what items we want to purchase. Out of no where someone is approaching us very quickly from behind... my first assumption that it is an unhoused/ homeless person so I start walking faster.... then he spoke "YOU NEED TO GET IN YOUR CAR AND LEAVE THE PARKING LOT NOW".... I'm still thinking he's someone off his meds and we need to get away from him .... He then tells us AGAIN to get in our car & leave but added an accusation that we could only park in lot if patronizing abc store....insinuating we weren't. At this point adrenaline is running high .. and we both tell him we are going to abc store.... He responds " do you know how many times I hear that? if u were... u would have gone there first" We individually start defending ourselves/ shopping plans. And he says for the 3rd time to get in our car and leave before adding " Before I tag your car" Why would security threaten to graffiti/ tag someone's car? Why would security guard approach women, quickly from behind ( especially in the dark) getting hot and making accusations & instilling fear? I probably shouldn't have ended the encounter by calling whoever he was a CS - whether he is or not, he's still a child of god... but adrenaline kicked in...it's a crazy feeling to be aggressively and inaccurately accused of anything. If he is your employee, customer service training wd be a great idea.

Very nice grocery, souvenirs and odds and ends you might be needing while traveling or stopping over near the port in Lihue - really helpful staff.

Lots of fun shops to check out, and they have fully embraced their chicken population. Never in my life did I think I'd be buying chicken souvenirs, but I did. LOL

We were referred here from another Crazy Shirt store because they happened to have my size in stock. Good to have shoppers from the cruise ships support local businesses.

The ABC store is located there. We went just about everyday for snacks, liquor, souvenirs. They have a good selection and significantly cheaper than the hotel. About a 10 minute walk from the royal sonesta to the anchor cove shops.

Food was good, not memorable but good. Service was unsatisfactory. The signs were confusing on where to order. We were told to stand outside and waited for more than 5 minutes with a line forming behind us. Until one customer, not in line, goes in and puts his order with the same person who directed us to go outside. After the person who cut in line put his order in, I went to her and told her that the line is outside as she instructed. No reaction from her. In any case, at this point, we already put in our effort and went ahead and put our order in. We also notified all others outside to just walk on in and see the other person behind the counter to let person know they want to order. Not a good 1st impression.

sticker shock for sure however it was a lovely outdoor shopping experience.a good variety of dining options and the shops are pretty much touristy shops.they have an outdoor Farmers Market on Thursdays and hula dancer show comes once a week....one thing you need to know though is even though the hours are posted of what time the shops open which is 9:00 a.m.there was only one shop that was ever open at 9:00 a.m. I think the rest of them are on Hawaiian Timethe parking was something to be desired but there's also a CVS there
