Went to Target in this shopping center. Needed to get a long sleeve jacket for the airline return trip home. It's just too cold for me & I forgot my sweater at home when we came to Hawaii.

Nice shopping center. Open concept, feels like an Outlet but not.
Smaller. Dated. Not as clean but it is Hawaii.
Not many options to shop. A few chain stores. Some local food vendors.
Target is in walking distance. Times is worth the stop if you want good food.

This mall has a variety of practical shops. It is not posh, but we found everything we needed. The bird diorama was fun to see.

Came here from Montana and we wanted to try everything, well most everything here. It has just about everything here we have back home. Tried shaved ice and I say if you've never been here before, it's a must-try.

As a local, I've seen stores come and go. Seems to be a lot of vacancies now. Lost our theater after Hurricane Iniki years ago, Macy's left this year. Genki Sushi gone. It's still a practical stop with Long's, Ross, Star Market, Kauai Bakery, and UPS. A few interesting eateries (all local style food only), a sports bar with so-so menu and happy hour fare, a few clothing shops and gifty boutiques. Sometimes there are public events in the stage area. But mostly, it's not lively or appealing to hang out.
Needs a better restaurant (NOT local-style) and more diverse and appealing shops and attractions. I do have one favorite place to visit there and that's the Kauai Society of Artists special exhibitions throughout the year.
Is the stage area ever used for weekly events like morning Tai Chi or yoga for seniors, organized mall walking, after school activities chess/go/crafting/science stuff/karaoke/ukulele jams/ etcetera etcetera. Food demos, auto shows, community and school clubs exhibits.
Maybe we can blame the mall's loss of commercial attraction to online shopping, I don't really know. Maybe it's just a sign of the times.
Kukui Grove could good use better (creative) p.r. with it's tenants and the community, I think.

The staff are extremely rude and aren't very helpful. It's hard to get any help when you are actually able to track down an employee. They aren't knowledgeable about the products they sell and they are often out of things and the employees are unable to give an idea of when they will be receiving more stock. Their selection in certain departments is limited. An example would be their automotive selection consists of one type of car seat covers a couple different sizes of windshield wipers and some windshield washing fluid. They have limited home repair items and while they do have food the selection is much smaller than a typical grocery store. They would be my recommendation if you were just looking for something typical like frozen pizza or milk. If you needed anything that was more unique or a specific specialty item I'd recommend either going somewhere else or calling ahead to make sure that they have it. Their prices on some things is better than other stores but other things are more expensive so it really depends on what you're looking for and if you're on a budget you should look online or call first to do your research. They have a good rewards program and they have hot personal pizza and pasta from pizza hut for take out which is a plus. They also have a Starbucks in store. All in all I avoid going here unless I absolutely have to simply because the staff are so unpleasant and aren't helpful. But they do sell some things you can't get anywhere else on island so unfortunately they are necessary but they are never my first pick.
