Combination of grocery store, bakery, and restaurant. Frequented by old ladies and young male workers -- positive indicators of quality and value. We got a small marinated pork ($8), custard pastry, and sticky rice for a total of $12.Pork was super flavorful though I was unable to identify anything. The custard pastry was mind-blowing.

Love being able to get freshly baked pan de sal in the morning and R&J has them. So good while still hot... I got half a dozen one morning and had to have some right away in the car. I should've got a dozen. This place is a small Filipino bakery and turo-turo joint on Rice Street in Lihue in between Rob's Good Times Grill and the bowling alley. The Tita that helped us was friendly and I was going to get a bag of their homemade chicharon but decided against it. She laughed when I changed my mind. They have some vegetables for sale scattered about the small retail space out front. But the main draw is their baked goods and their hot food to-go. I saw everything from biko (sticky rice dessert), musubis, empanadas, suman (sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf) for baked and packaged goods. Then they had pancit, dinuguan, fried fish and pork adobo. There were several other offerings that I cannot recall. Pan de sal was 3 for $1 or a dozen for $4. Gotta get the dozen. Parking is in the share lot right out front or street parking along Rice if the plaza is packed.

Really good pan de sal here especially when you can get it hot and ready. Size and taste were reminiscent of what I got in my parent's town in the Pampanga part of the philippines-small with bread crumbs. We ate 4 pieces on our way back home. Shouldve bought an extra bag!

Rated 3.5 stars 10/19/23 Small Filipino mom & pop shop in Lihue, serving cooked foods (turo-turo) and baked goods. Today we arrived nearly at closing (which is at 3 pm) just checking it out. The shopkeeper is friendly & fairly attentive. All i see that's left is a few mochi, a few mini cassava tarts, mung bean hopia & ensaymada. I inquired if they have hot pandesal & she says they do. Furthermore, I asked if they sell half or a dozen per order & she said I could get 3 pieces for a dollar...SOLD! LoL I just wanted to try if they're any good and we can't eat all of their dozen (but Hubby can eat 4-5 pieces in one sitting if it's the Pampanga Bakery hot pandesal). I noticed an olive-greenish looking square next to the hopia & she said it's mochi-an Ilocos (sur or norte, not sure) specialty so I picked one package just to try. They sell other items like Star margarine, ketchup, coconut milk , and some fresh veggies like eggplant, bitter melon & I think it's called 'sigarilyas'. The kindly lady promptly thanked me as I was leaving & off I went. There's plenty of parking & this store is sandwiched between Daddy O''s and a laundry mat. There's also a pho shop at the end of the strip mall. The pandesal was alright, small & light, unlike what we're used to at the mainland. Somehow I think it's not fresh out of the oven but it would go great if U toasted it lightly ir if I dunked in in coffee:)). The mochi? That one I actually liked, its chewy, not too sweet & unlike what I've tasted before. I think there's bits of coconut in it. Perhaps next time I will get to try & taste their cooked foods.

Good home style food. After trying to find some decent food on this island and being disappointed over and over I was pleasantly surprised by this place.Got some stewed chicken, it’s flavorful without just being salty. The mochi / glutinous rice bites were good too. Wife got a bittermelon leaf soup. I can’t handle the bitterness but she said it was good.Takes card.

The pandesal here saved this early bird pregnant woman's life. I almost yelled I need bread (I'm so sorry if I seemed crazed haha) and was met with a sample and left with many pieces of it, happy as can be. What a gem of a place! Can't wait to check out the other items.
