Where to start...Well in my experience in these styles of Japanese inspired cuisines the service means everything. The staff was very nice but they really weren't great at service....sorry missed the mark there.First, the table setting outside was so close and small no place to put your things if you need...maybe that doesn't matter to most but with the table being so small and the dish size being large the table space, we needed wasn't happening.Second the menu I got was old and my husband got the new one.... with higher end pricing that's not a great idea to still be using old menus.Okay so the food....as a sushi lover and have traveled to eat good sushi...it was just okay... for a roll to cost 38.00 I expect more than okay... I honestly was super disappointed in that aspect like....it wasn't really special so why was I paying for a spoofed up trendy restaurant atmosphere. The Brussels were overpowered with a very mediocre sauce and said it came with pork belly but that wasn't the case. The 10.00 small bowl of miso soup I could buy better at a local ramen bar.Overall I wouldn't recommend the food. The resturant is obviously a hype and I'm sure the bar is a great reason why....for drinks I can see this being a quiet, yet sophisticated spot to have some drinks....especially outside. But save your money for Umi in kahului or Morimoto.Aloha!

What a lovely gem in Paia. Great location and very warm and inviting. Services was really good and very friendly. The sushi was really tasty, my husband had that and me as a vegetarian had the Blackend Tofu. I realize food is pricey in Maui however charging the same for the tofu dish as fresh fish was a bit much. But it was and excellent dish.

Beautiful restaurant, the vibes at vana are always cool and fun, great music, nice outdoor atmosphere and different areas to hideaway like their bar nestled in the back of the restaurant. sitting with olivia and nicolai is always fun. the cocktails are always the best part of the menu for me. they have lots of nice hot plates and salad options for people who dont like sushi, but for me the sushi is the best here, go for sashimi and nigiri. they always have great fish and sushi specialties. their sushi chefs are always kind and skilled in their craft here. try their black sesame cake and their town and country mezcal drink.

Food is decent but my roll tasted premade and like it was in a cooler which is a no no lol, they brought out my entree before my drinks and appetizers even came out like what? The service was okay expected more for Valentine’s Day but I’m still in Maui so there’s that just stick to the mom and pop stores in the vicinity much better service and fresh food. Great if you just want some drinks just no on the food.

Vana created a special atmosphere perfect for Valentines Day. The dumplings were light and flavorful. Sushi rolls presented an amazing variety and fabulous combination of flavors. The dragon roll (the special) was particularly memorable. Mahalo!

We normally sit in the patio but this visit we were in the new front facing seating area. the ambience is ok but is a bit sterile when compared with the outdoor patio seating. Our food was good, but not to the same level of great taste we have had in the past.. our order of the miso cod never appeared so we cancelled it, and left the restaurant disappointed by our experience. It seems like the menu has changed, and the flavors that we enjoyed in past visits has suffered.

The overall lack of professionalism (and care) exhibited by the hostess, wait staff, and bus staff was inexcusable. It was incongruent and incompatible with the quality of the food and the romantic ambience/vibe of the restaurant, in general. This is the primary reason we will not be returning nor recommending the restaurant to others.

Absolutely best experience I’ve had in a while. The sushi chef took such good care of us the fish was outrageously fresh. O’toro melted. Local and the vibe really gave an experience. The musician tonight is blowing me away with his beautiful voice as he started with a beautiful Hawaiian song.

We happened upon this place because of not being able to wait at others, and it was a more than pleasant surprise! Best sushi! The dragon roll is very good, the salmon appetizer is light, bright and fresh! And the cod special was super tender with all the right accents of a little spice and tang and fresh charred cherry tomatoes. Service was quick and efficient!!

Excellent sushi and sashimi and rolls. Unique additions like toasted garlic slices that enhanced the overall flavor profile. Wait staff was excellent and had superb advice and recommendations. Very fresh ingredients, texture smooth as butter. Delicious unique cocktails. Only slight detriment was how fast all the courses/ selections were served. The table quickly became congested with plates. We were asked if we had a preference and we didn't, so partly our own fault. We just didn't expect such fast service. Still an excellent experience. We will definitely go here again.

Everything about this place was outstanding! We were quite pleased to find this gem away from the crowds. The ambiance was both sexy & romantic; the sushi, salads, scallops and fish incredibly fresh and best of all, Amber, our server went above and beyond by answering all our questions and even recommending fun mocktails for us non-drinkers. I highly recommend this restaurant!

WOW! Our party of 4 foodies were blown-away by VP - we couldn't believe how generous the portions were and how DELICIOUS everything was. We had the Hamachi Kama which we were fortunate enough to get because they sell out early, and all 4 of us agreed that it was THE BEST HK we've ever had, even better than ones we've had at traditional Japanese restaurants, and twice the size as well. The California Sushi and Tekka rolls were also much larger than we expected, and we loved how there was more filling than rice! The special Beef Short Ribs was a big hit - tender, flavorful and plated with tasty Asparagus and Pureed Purple Sweet Potatoes (one of us literally wanted to lick the plate!) and the Mushrooms and BBQ Pork Ribs were SO GOOD, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! The quality of the food was only surpassed by the Amazing Service we received - smiles, attentiveness, YES to every request! The GM Annie even came and chatted with us about her vision for VP... this place is a HIDDEN GEM that needs to be experienced by all!

Food was really great, the scallops were cooked perfectly. The drinks were amazing as well (desert flower) and the service was great as well.
