We had an unreal time! Zach’s wife Sarah was so friendly, professional, and got us feeling comfortable and surfing some waves in no time!!! Was the highlight of our trip to Maui. We got to meet Zach too and he was just as friendly. Would definitely recommend!!

Zack is the best instructor I’ve had across the mainland and in Hawai’i. My partner and I are in our 30s, experienced beginners, and had a great time learning new ways to improve and practicing under Zack’s guidance. He’s very easygoing & his kindness and patience go a long way with beginners! Will definitely reach out to spend more time honing in our skills in the future.

NOT A TOURIST TRAP.REAL SURFER/INSTRUCTOR!!!Just got done surfing with Zach and my 11 year old daughter. After booking the lesson we had a lot of good communication on where to be and what time. We made it right to the spot and he was there ready to roll when we were. He gave us great instruction on the beach and we were out in the water in no time. It wasn’t more than 5 minutes and my daughter rode a wave 150 yards all the way in. That run alone was worth it but we had many more opportunities. He was super informative, patient, and had a great attitude. You could tell this was his life and enjoys seeing people enjoy the sport. After being out there for an hour you could really see the locals respect him and his knowledge/abilities.Would absolutely use Zach and his team again! This is the place you want to book.Thanks again!!

Our family had a fantastic experience with Zack for a surf lesson last week! He was great with our kids, had my 6yo start riding tandem with him then moved her to her own board at the end of the lesson. The conditions were rough the day we went out, and he worked so hard to keep us safe and still catch some good waves!

Zack and his team were amazing with me and my family! This is the second year we’ve hired him and can’t wait to surf with him again when we come back to Maui. Highly recommend for all ages and skill levels!

We did it all on Maui, paddle boarding, whale watching, snorkeling, ATV riding, sailing and surfing. The highlight of the trip, by far, was the Zach Howard Surf lessons!!! Travis did a great job instructing.

We had the best experience with Sarah and Jack! When our 13yo decided mid vacation that he wanted a surf lesson we didn't think it would be possible. But after inquiring with Zack Howard surf on a Wednesday night our Thursday morning surf lesson was confirmed immediately. Sarah was kind enough to text us and answer all of our questions even though it was almost 10pm. Less than 12 hours later, Sarah and Jack were waiting for us on the beach. We were able to have a private lesson for our group of 4, and Sarah didn't waste any time getting everyone ready to go, understanding the basics, and into the water. The kids loved learning from Sarah and Jack and all 4 got up on their boards and had so much fun!! The kids really wanted to take another lesson, but unfortunately we didn't have time. We will definitely be back to surf with Sarah and Jack again in the future!

A very fun experience, but... Pro: Scheduling and communication was good. Instructor Travis was early to the beach, very knowledgeable and helpful. I had a great experience with dry training and in the water!Con: The foam top board was quite worn (cover coming apart in some spots) and left my knees and toes shredded. Toes are bad enough to have limited activities during the rest of our Maui vacation. I've learned since that booties and knee protection are helpful on foam top boards. The website, zackhowardsurf.com says they provide booties for the lesson. They told me afterward they no longer use the booties because folks step on the reef in them. I understand that concern, but my shredded toes say there should be an alternative. Or at least better communication about the loss of skin.

My wife and I recently completed a lesson with Sarah. It was great! She provided clear instructions, was super helpful and encouraging, and made sure that we had a good time.We were also able to meet Zack, and the two of them are incredibly kind people.I would definitely recommend booking your Maui surf lessons here!
