“Idk if people don't understand what a pake store is but growing up in Hawaii the pake stores were almost always run by grumpy old Asian people lol, but in return they have better prices than the gas stations and a pretty good selection of things you won't find just anywhere. I saw a reviews of people complaining about the old guy being rude and grumpy but all the times I came here and he was here it wasn't ever such a big deal that I wanted them to lose their business. ‍ just saying”

“If you’re looking for sake of all ranges of quality, including ones that are exquisitely made with care and concerned for both production and sourcing of materials, go to this shop. The woman who helped me (maybe the owner?) was knowledgeable and kind, which is something that makes me want to frequent this local business even more. There are also some accessories, and drinking vessels.”

“The kind of beer shop I’d open if I could. Excellent selection. Always fresh. Helpful and friendly staff. If you like beer, this is a must visit in Honolulu.Parking: The validate up to an hour. Cheap after that for Honolulu.”

“After hiking Moana Falls, hubby and I needed some coffee. Saw this spot on Yelp and was rated well and I wanted to see why. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman and he talked to us about how they make their own unsweetened organic almond milk (which is not the norm at coffee spots!). Ordered 2 iced lattes with almond milk (extra charge for that) and a lilikoi bar. Almond milk was nice and creamy in the latte and the coffee itself was strong. Lilikoi bar was pretty tasty. I would recommend coming here to support this local business!”

“This was my second time shopping here. I had some questions, Laura was very helpful and even though I know I said some things wrong, she never corrected me or made me feel embarrassed. I appreciate the customer service and will definitely return.”

“Picked up a 2012 Sassicaia here- this will b our christmas bottle this yr. The price seemed reasonable. Yvonne was very friendly. They also have Tignanello and Ornelaia although both still young.”

“If you need something, they probably have it. This is a quaint more than a liquor store kind of store, where they sell goodies and supplies and where you are always greeted with a smile. The beer is cold and the food is hot.”

“One of the few places where you can get authentic Japanese groceries. Prices are a bit high, but not too bad. They have a good selection of fresh fish and produce. The meat section is a bit limited. Great selection of imported Japanese stuff. Also a great selection of Japanese hardware, office supplies, clothes, etc.”

“It's a decent convince store that's locally owned and operated. It can seem cluttered at the register, and the back half of the store could use more lighting”

“Nii Superette is a hidden gem on Oahu! When I decided to be sober and researched alcohol-alternative beverages, I stumbled upon this one-in-a-million store! Steven is nothing short of an alcohol-free "sommelier" and I look forward to his wisdom and guidance with each visit!”

“Ewa Pantry is a tiny store with a big inventory. How they get so many different types and brands of liquors and spirits into their little shop, is a real mystery. They carry everything from bottled cocktails, beers and seltzers to high-end Scotches. We went looking for a particular mixer I was sure they wouldn't have, and then there it was right on their shelf. No matter what you need to make your most exotic cocktail, give Ewa Pantry a shot and odds are, they'll have what you need.”

“We had a rocky start with them but now I know how to get through to the right department! We have a kegerator and had issues with the liquor store not letting us know when the keg we ordered was not in stock. Now we call Paradise before we place our order!”

“I thought the portion was small, but it wasn't small. It was worth eating once. It's far from the city, so I don't think it would be enough to visit and eat again.”

“Tamura's is a little local community gem. The store is older and they are not as stocked as some of the chain monsters are. However, I find the pricing and inventory to be more than adequate. The parking lot is a decent size and their hours of operation are also decent. Little bit of everything here, from ice to liquor and beer to snacks + the regular grocery store items.”

“My husband (Glenn) always gets his tires from Lex Brodie. He has been going there for years. Junior walked him through the process of the centering rings and type of lugs he needed. He also reminded him to bring the car back in a couple of days to torque the lug nuts. Junior made sure Glenn got his rebate forms to submit to the Rebate Center. Everyone at Lex Brodie is very courteous, professional and always will to help you and answer any questions. Thank you Junior for for expertise and everyone else for always being so helpful. Good Job!!!!!”

“The go-to spot for kegs! Aunty there was cooperative and knew what she was doing. We ordered one Corona Premier keg for my son's birthday party. They got all the local favorites: Heineken, Corona, Budweiser etc. If they don't have the brands that you're looking for - brands that aren't locally popular here like Guinness or Blue Moon - they can easily special order it for you if you're in a last minute bind trying to supply the keg for the party. Other then that, they can get you any keg you need. They have 2 sizes available, prices vary depending on beer. 1/2 bbl for $140-$160 and 1/6 bbl for $60-$80. both require a $100 dollar deposit for the actual keg container. I was a bit confused at first but for those who are new to this (like me), the prices for the kegs apply to the actual volume of liquor you're purchasing, and the $100 deposit is for the metallic keg container holding your purchased volume of liquor. When ready for pick up, aunty will provide you with a trash can to put the keg in and fill it with ice, ice to fill the trash can, and a pump for you to get beer out the keg. And after you can return the keg, pump, and trash can to get a refund on your $100 deposit. Will definitely be coming back, my plug for kegs”

“I visited twice during Golden Week in May 2024 to make a pilgrimage to the sacred place of Ram Fire, which appears in the 2024 Japanese TV anime [Courage Explosion Burn Brave Burn].The yen is extremely weak at over 160 yen to the dollar, and two Konabic Wave beers and French fries cost 41 dollars including tip, which is about 6,600 yen in Japanese yen.The atmosphere was nice, the beer was plentiful, and the French fries were long and delicious, like long potatoes.By the way, [Courage Explosion Burn Bray Burn] is not available in the bottle that Smith was drinking. When I asked the staff, they told me that beer is either tap beer or canned beer, and since Kona Big Wave is tap beer, it is served in glasses. The staff were friendly and we had good conversation. You can also see the sunset beautifully here.”

“They make a really good spam musubi and also sell some good bentos made fresh daily. Not bad for a liquor store. It's a good place to grab a snack if you're hungry and don't wait. They also make sandwiches which I haven't tried yet. Owner is very nice and helpful.”

“I come to the Pearlridge Tamura's quite often because I love my wines and they have an excellent selection. Next to COSTCO Tamura's is my favorite place to purchase wines. The last time I went there I checked the poke section and was asked if I needed help. I told the fish guy that every time I come I look for the Hawaiian poke, but I only find it offered about once every 4 times I visit. They again didn't have it but the fish guy told me to wait and he put together a half pound order for me. This is my favorite poke because it has everything I like, (limu, round onion, green onion and Hawaiian chili pepper. This is one poke that does not need anything added to it when you get it home. I like hot and this poke is hot, so beware if you are not crazy about chili peppers.”

“Spam musubi comes in two styles: wet, where the spam is caramelized in a sweet shoyu glaze, and dry, simply pan-fried for a salty crunch. Wet brings a burst of sweet and savory, while dry offers a straightforward spam flavor. The spam musubi here at Middle Street Market is a dry version giving it a straightforward spam experience where the spam is the star giving it a clean, classic spam flavor. The same technique is applied to their red hotdog musubi. That being said the spam musubi here lives up to my expectations and more. the rice was fluffy and well cooked while the nori held everything nicely together. The portion is the normal size of any other spam musubi. Overall I would definitely recommend Middle Street Market because I know I will be back.”

“I used to take my dad to Chinatown Liquors every week so he could get his Chinese newspaper, but ever since Covid-19, most businesses stopped bringing in the Chinese newspaper to da 808.Where is Chinatown Liquors located at?You can find this liquor store at the Chinese Cultural Plaza in Chinatown. The little liquor store is kinda hidden away, as the entrance of the liquor store is tucked away, fronting a parking dock within the mall.Normally, I drive into the parking dock to drop off my dad, so he could walk straight into the liquor store to pick up his newspaper.Unfortunately due to Covid-19, times have changed and this liquor store no longer brings in/sells the Chinese newspaper.Aside from Chinese newspapers, if you're looking for booze, then you've hit pay dirt my friends! Not into Chinese newspapers or booze? No worries cuz they also sell snacks, and other types of non-alcoholic drinks, and even some small groceries items. I did finally find a store that brings in the Chinese newspaper to da 808. That store is also located inside the Chinese Cultural plaza - Kanjico.”

“Literally a mini mart...Located on the corner of Ward and Halekuwila across Longs Go-rae is a very tiny mini mart is basically a place to be for snacks and to quench your thirst and is the place for $8 bento which is a nice combination mix plate filled with variety of meats on rice as well as spam musubi.Get there early for the best variety as at times when I swing by after work for there wasn't that many choices as all musubis were sold out but did manage to grab one of their spicy pork bento. Their spam musubi is cooked in some. shoyu sugar sauce which is nice and is topped on a generous amount of rice.Parking is available right in front or along the side of the building as well, the owners are just quietly manning the shop sitting there until you're ready, but are nice and friendly as I asked what each items in the variety of bentos, a great convenience for value and yummy munchies.Thank you!”
