The bank is overall okay. The service is good and the people are fine. But the phone app sucks. It actually is the worst thing about the bank. And for most folks, it's the thing that people use often.

I have been a Business Account Customer for so many years. I have a problem that is way beyond my control and the Bank that I think should have my back and help me to get it taken care of??? No love, understanding or anything else. I call and speak with the Call Center and get transferred to a Supervisor that tells me that the Branch Manager could and should have taken care of it. She sets an appointment for the next morning and said she would message the Branch Manager and let her know that it is a simple enough mater and Manager can do an override and take care of it. Next day I'm there for the appointment but Branch Manager tells me that there's nothing she can do. Like I didn't already know that she could. Some customer service from these people who should recognize the long time customer and take care of a minor issue that is a button push to fix. If years of being a loyal customer doesn't have any meaning to this bank, and pushing a button is too much of an inconvenience for them they have lost the most important part of business. Unfortunately they also have made it my mission to make sure they understand the importance of Customer Service. If the Manager doesn't understand it, time to get a new one that does.

Made a cash deposit of $1000 on Friday at the Pahoa Branch of Bank of Hawaii.. Amount did NOT appear in the account on Monday. Very concerned, I called the branch and was on hold over 40 minutes with NO response.ALSO the BoH Mastercard information is NEVER correct on the website.Pathetic. AVOID Bank of Hawaii.

This information is not true. A Hilo branch has been open for 4 months while the pahoa branch posts this misinformation on the front door the whole time. Maybe they should post the directions to the branch in Hilo that is open. Instead they would leave you believing all the branches have been closed for months? Not who I want looking after my money.

We have been doing business with BOH for a couple of years my checking and savings are with them also and my car loan I have never been more satisfied with their service no matter which location your at the staff is always so friendly and more than willing to help you and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable instead of making you feel like the little person they take the time to listen and rectify whatever problems or questions or concerns you may have and point or reecommemd someone to help you

H.F.S. credit union members can withdraw cash up to $300 a day at any Bank of Hawaii A.T.M. without fees. I use this atm all the time, most memorable was1am after a breakdown and the lateshift towtruck driver only accepted cash.super glad it was there. First Hawaiian bank next door charges atm fees (around $2) for H.F.S. customers

This branch of Bank of Hawaii is fantastic. It has the most friendly, warm, and hard working tellers. I have never been to any branch where they were not courteous and professional but there is something special about Pahoa. Maybe because we are a small town? They always greet you by name! They will always have my business.

UPDATE TO ATM PROBLEM. I'm out of the country so some time has past, but before I left Bank of Hawaii Did Refund me the lost money. They were never able to tell me they found it or not. Because there atm counter wasn't available. So luckily in my case they helped me out and fixed MY problem. So for that I'll I give the help line 3 stars, yes they refunded, but was not easy. Hours and hours on calls to many different people for a few weeks. But as far as the faulty ATM I can only say to those who deposit cash avoid this pahoa branch atm.

I can't believe that any banking institution would keep a caller on hold for 16 minutes! I called this Pahoa branch for information on opening a new checking account and must have heard the recording, "A specialist will be with you shortly" at least 20 times. Are these people even interested in obtaining new customers? If this is the way their calls are handled, I guess it speaks volume for their customer service and how my money would be handled. I held on just to see if I would get any kind of service. Do not waste your time and more importantly your hard earned money on Bank of Hawaii. And, no, I am not a newcomer, just a hard working island woman, born and raised here. Service ...good service is the only thing which differentiates one business from another. And here, on Big Island it is top priority.

In 1year with BOH I put over 60k into my account. A total of 4 separate occasions BOH made "computer" errors on my account that required me going in, after multiple calls to get their error fixed. In total they charged me with over $800 In fees. I had to get an attorney. Because it was their fault in ever case. But they could "only reverse 1-2 fees" in the last instance they made a mistake $290 worth. They "wouldn't reverse any more fees" for 2 of these occasions I had to speak with the President of the bank. Aside from that. No loyalty, no high volume account appreciation, and THE RUDEST WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! EVERY TIME I went to the bank (2-7 days a week) I always felt talked down to. I never felt valued. I applied for a collateral loan on a remodel for a house ($9k), and a credit card ($;1.5k). My credit score is 699, fico 8. "Excellent credit", with all the money I put into their account; they denied me. What? I have 0 debt, 0 collections, 0 medical bills. Their reason not enough "report and account in good standing long enough" my account (Aside from during their errors) Ever went negative. I've since closed my account on the 4th MAJOR error by this bank...They took 2 months to post charges on my account. $106 In transaction. I told them when I went in to cancel my account that I'd contacted the vendor, it was a bank delay/error. The President of the bank "has no idea why"...I sat there canceled all the "pending" Christmas gifts (I paid in November-Now January) and asked to get my money back. "We cant except for $11" .... So essentially they STOLE that $95 from me, and 3 people in my family STILL haven't gotten their gifts.... this is absolutely the WORST BANK I've ever dealt with. DO NOT BANK HERE!
