Very homey and quite comfortable. Snack bars, fruit, ramen, and coffee provided. Only problem is the road into the lodge from the road off the highway is a little tight to drive through. Overall, great place to

Aloha Crater Lodge is FANTASTIC !!! I stayed in the Orchid Room for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. Such a wonderfully decorated room that was obviously crafted with tons of love and felt like a home away from home.Super clean, super comfortable, super close to Volcano Natl' Park and yummy places to eat. The room comes with complimentary fresh fruits, snacks and everything you need to have a nice and relaxing time.On a side note, I accidentally forgot a prized necklace when I checked out and the owners really went out of their way to make sure I got it back. Great place, great people, great room = fantastic experience :)

This lodge is very close to Volcano National park (3 miles). I stayed only 1 night. It seemed like a Home-stay rather than a lodge. Location inside a rain forest, it gives a feeling you are in a jungle. Well maintained. Owner's sister Shay was there when I checked in. Owner's house is at the backside of the lodge. Since owner lives on the property, if there are any issues inside room they will take of it immediately. Shay took care of me very well - Checked me in sooner than regular time, answered all my questions. She also offered me an umbrella as it seemed like it would rain. Unfortunately the heavy downpour and gusty winds broke the umbrella. I told the mis-hap and she just shrugged it off, sweet :) The room offered was excellent and very neat. It had a small kitchen with all essential stuff (Microwave, fridge, coffee maker - Coffee/Tea sachets, Half n Half, sugar, chocolate bars and not to mentioned it also had 2 chicken noodles packets that came handy that night as stores are very far off from this place. It just made me feel as though I was in a house. Loved their hospitality and price was very reasonable for things that came along in room. If I ever visit Big Island, Hawaii I will definitely make my reservations with them.

Stayed here for two nights in Volcano Village while exploring the national park. Great place, friendly owner, large room, private bath, and hot tub. You are in a rain forest, so it will be damp and there will be some bugs.

1. The web page for Aloha Crater Lodge is volcanohawaiilodge.com and it advertises an on-site lava tube.with photos and videos. Way cool! Making a trip to the Big Island, I made a point of booking this location and dragged the rest of the party along just to humor me. Upon arrival we were told that the lava tube is closed indefinitely. Nowhere on the web site is that mentioned!2. This location is like a tropical jungle - beautiful if that's what you're looking for. The windows are kept open for ventilation, letting in all that humid air. There happens to be a washer and dryer in Room 5 so a more sensitive person in our party elected to throw their bedding into the dryer. Keep that in mind if you're sensitive to a damp feel to your bedding. It also applies to the towels. That same sensitive person made the mistake of breathing in while toweling her face. Turned into a major allergy-like attack! We ended up offering a inhaler just to help her stop. And it continued to bother her for the remainder of the trip.3. Then given the mold and poor grout in the bath enclosure and lack of heat, we elected to bathe at our next stop.4. There is an outdoor hot tub. The water looked a little dirty. If none of this is of concern, then enjoy your stay!

We should have stayed longer! Our family stayed at the lodge during a trip to Volcano National Park, and we enjoyed the lodge so much, we considered changing our plans to stay longer. It's very close to the road that goes through Volcano, but you would never know because it's tucked back into the rainforest. As described, the place is very private including Room 5 where we stayed. The entire lodge is remarkably tidy, and the unit itself was sparkling clean. This is noteworthy because rainforests don't lend themselves to keeping places tidy and clean, so a great deal of effort must go into it. I especially appreciated they used Ecosense cleaning products. The unit was very spacious and had delightful craftmanship (including turtle statues cast into the countertop and gorgeous hardwood floors). It also had nearly every amenity one could one, including in the fully stocked bathroom. I recommend staying at the Aloha Crater lodge without hesitation - it's a thoughtful, gorgeous, blessed place.

Very clean and super easy check in. Appreciated the breakfast foods left in the room (yogurts, lots of fresh fruit, oatmeal packets, granola bars, even ramen for a bedtime snack). Had a mini fridge and microwave. Comfortable king size bed in our room. Just minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park so we were able to visit at night to see the active volcano eruption and also early the next morning before all of the crowds. Our room just had a tub with a shower sprayer; no actual shower. Dated but clean. It was great for our 1 night stay.

Lots of wildlife in the vicinity, which allows for beautiful birdsong at night. The cabin has a homey environment, and it is conveniently close to the volcano national park for anyone who wishes to see lava in person.

For anyone visiting Volcanoes National Park for more than 1 day, this is the place to stay! The location is only 2 miles away from the park and is across the highway from some great dining. The place is quiet and the vegetation outside your door makes you feel like you are in another world. The hosts are very nice, helpful and willing to accommodate special needs.

very unique stay. the entrance were shade by tropical trees, drive in like drive into a hidden secret garden. i think each of the room have it's specific feature, ours were room6 that have a volcano stone garden. also the floor of shower are pebble that could massage your foot. they have several choices of fruit, snack, yoghurt, soda for breakfast, some are pretty tropical that we love their tastes.finally, it's very close to the volcano national park. we borrowed their chargable flashlight to see lava, we get up 4am and checked all 3 recommended loci, and it's not even close to check out time. that's the benefit of close!
