What a jewel of a place! The rooms are comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well-equipped. Breakfast was delicious. We loved that the breakfast was left in our room so we could enjoy at our leisure. We would have been more than happy with the amenities, but what makes this place extra special are the gardens and rainforest walk all on property. Sitting on the private lanai looking out to the garden was wonderful. It is a photographer's delight. We can't wait to return.

The location is perfect for visiting the Volcano National Park and the sisters running it are super nice and very good at what they do. The room and bathroom were very clean with views to a beautiful bamboo grove, breakfasts were tasty with great variety, and the outside tropical garden and rainforest walk were one of the highlights of our stay. We fell asleep to birds singing every night.

If your looking for an oasis in a Hawaiian Rain Forest, this is the place to be. A Beautiful landscaped property with meticulously manicured areas that surprise you as you walk through. I love the attention to detail in your room from the amenities to your breakfast served. The rich history of this location alone will humble you knowing that the present owners Nicole and Gabrielle, took this property to what it is today. You are steps away from Volcano Village Restraunts and about a mile away from The Volcano National Park. Stay a few nights or longer, this is definitely a location that will meet all your expectations.

The breakfasts were delicious, the owners/innkeepers wonderfully gracious, and the bamboo room was perfect for our needs, too! Fresh fruit, the best banana bread you've ever had, and fluffy frittatas! The bed was super comfortable and everything you need is at hand. A nice patio is right outside the front door to drink your moning coffee or tea and watch the wildlife. Theres a dehumidifier in the room to help dry things out. Youre in a rainforest, after all. Nothing rattled because we didn't notice the small earthquake in the middle of the night (2.9)! It has beautiful grounds in a rainforest area in Volcano Village just outside of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Hence the tremors! The original house was built by missionaries in 1866 and it's stood the test of time.I cannot recommend Hale 'Ohu Bed & Breakfast enough - we would stay here again in a heartbeat, and we hope its sooner rather than later!Nearby activities: Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park is within 3 miles from the door to your room! Traverse Kilauea and Mauna Loa (the world's most active volcanoes) and learn how the five volcanoes on the Big Island shaped (and continues to shape) the landscape and story of the youngest island in the Hawaiian archipelago.Volcano Village has a wonderful market in town on Sundays and Thursdays. The B&B has a wonderful booklet featuring all the local restaurants and activities year-round in the village.

The room was clean and had ever amenity you could think of. They went the extra mile with the extra details such as umbrellas, flashlight, and heated mattress pads. They were also very environmentally conscious with the use of reusable items for their food service and bathroom items. Nicole was friendly and happy to answer any questions and the breakfasts were a perfect way to start the day!

Wonderful time at Hale ‘Ohu B&B during September 16-18. The owner greeted us at check-in and gave us advice on the area. Both owners are friendly and motivated in keeping their B&B with the upmost quality. We can see that both of them put their heart into making this place so great. The breakfast they provided was hand made and delicious. The Bamboo room was clean and spotless when we check-in. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend this place.

This is a great bed and breakfast to stay while exploring the volcano national park area. Nicole at the front desk was super friendly. She gave us great recommendations for things to do or skip and even let us borrow some bug spray for the volcano and beach towels for our quick trip to Punaluʻu black sand beach. I Highly highly highly recommend Hale ‘Ohu if you’re looking for a great place to stay right outside volcano national park.

This bed and breakfast is simply gorgeous and the best we have visited so far. Nicole is so friendly and you feel welcome right away.It is set in beautiful countryside sourrended by the rainforest, just a few minutes from the National Park. The room was modern and furnished with great attention to detail and we didn't miss anything. And the breakfast, which is freshly prepared every day, is great! We would heartily recommend this bed and breakfast to everyone :)

Great home base for exploring Volcanoes and the rest of the Big Island. The Bamboo room had everything we needed, including an in-room breakfast which was excellent every day. The property itself if amazing with lots of interesting plants if you want to wander through the garden area, and it's tucked back in a really quiet neighborhood so the only noise we heard was birds, frogs, and rain. Highly recommended!
