This post office refuses packages left and right without remorse. Better off driving to Pahala or Hilo for mail. As far of a drive out of the way it is, it's still less of a hassle. That is saying something.

Staff is always very friendly and accommodating. I wish the USPS would provide the facility and staffing required to adequately accommodate the number of residents in the Village.

Rude and condescending comments are hurled at you. They can’t even keep track of the mail being incompetent must be a pre requisite for working here

Ever since moving here Ive had no problems, yeah sometimes the line can be out the door but that's no big deal, plus it's the holidays too! They are always so helpful, most of the times they help me with my packages out to my truck, so glad I came to this one instead of Mountain View.

Stolen article from package. Corner was torn open and they took the most expensive item. General delivery with no insurance on your parcel = Employee Theft. I contacted USPS theft department. USPS said they are sorry, sucks to be you. Case closed!

I think the staff do as well as they can with the hours and regulations they are given.

The people working here are the nicest post office workers ever! We wanted to ship back some souvenirs and they were super patient with us. We shipped on a Saturday and it was delivered back near the east coast on Wednesday, which is much faster than we were expecting with covid + shipping from Hawaii + nearing the holidays. They are only open for 1 hour on Saturdays and there were lots of locals picking up packages and sending things out, so definitely get there before 9:30 if you need to ship something out to give them time.

As far as wait time goes this post office is way better than Mountain View post office but in my case the staff was not friendly at all, I moved to volcano a month ago and can't get anything delivered to my PO Box or home with usps, Amazon changed my delivery method to FedEx because they send all my packages back and would not hold them there for me since my home is not registered in their database

Have dealt w/the Volcano P.O. for 24 yrs. Within this time period we have had a few different Post Masters. The 1st was horrible. There were incidences of mail that had disappeared & one for me when it arrived appeared to have been opened & some contents of value missing (our mail is trucked in by a subcontractor not a Federal USPS truck) . At that point I began mailing anything important @ the Hilo P.O. 30 mins away. Our next P.O. Master Wayne was a class act & the most accommodating person ever! When he left much of the community showered him w/gifts. Now have no idea who's in charge. My gripe is on occasion do receive someone else's mail, so w/that in mind when I order something small, if possible I have the company write my P.O. Box # in large letters on the pkg. The next gripe is when a pkg arrives it's not sorted till later & your yellow pick up slip appears in you P.O. Box after closing hrs. Never happened w/Wayne & if it did, you knocked on the door after their closing hrs; Wayne appeared & would get it for you w/a smile. Problem is too that when you order something, sometimes you don't know the delivery service the company will use & your physical address will need to be on the pkg & if it happens to be a USPS delivery & there's no P.O. Box # on your pkg the new workers here have sent a threatening letter that a pkg w/a physical address is subject to be sent back. What gets me is the Volcano P.O. has our physical address & can cross reference it back to our P.O. Box. Bottom line is, in this sleepy town of Volcano you better be really on it & track your own mail! Even then they can say it never arrived!

By far the worst customer service I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The employees acted like I was asking for personal favors and insulting their mothers. They were overtly rude and hostile without any provocation on my part. When they did finally find my package the manager said I’d have to come back the next day even though I paid overnight shipping and was sent an email to come pick it. After arguing for what felt like an eternity he reluctantly decided to give it to me. One of them smelled like he’d been drinking and his hostility matched his scent of debauchery. Shame on the employees for treating people like this and putting more unjustified negativity in the world. Next time I’ll use fedex or have it sent somewhere else. Absolutely pitiful

NOTE: Have your mail sent to this Post Office PO Box even if your package is accepted to be sent to a surrounding address near Volcano, HI.This might be the worst post office I've ever been to. The agent bold faced lied about a package not going to be able to be received at their Post Office - even though the tracking stated it had come through later that day - Jan. 22, 2020 @ 1.00pNo one is perfect but this rep knew this package would indeed come through their location but didn't want to be bothered with having to pull it from automatically being sent back to sender because of insufficient address - which - was correct but various rural areas have to have mail processed via only this post office and its PO Box.Really frustrating since it was important to receive this while travelling. Be warned, their custom service is absolutely atrocious.
