Sold bad gas that caused problems with our rental car— thankfully we only bought a few gallons. Would avoid getting gas here if at all possible.
Also lots of weird alt-right iconography posted up around the exterior if you needed another reason not to stop.

This place is a total rip off! Everything is way overpriced, their selection sucks, its dirty, I called and asked if they could stay open for 5 mins because the bus was late due to storm and I needed gas for my generator but I get there and they were still inside but said sorry we are closed and turned the lights off...if you live in volcano you know how cold it gets at night especially during a major storm...so i cant cook or turn my heat on for my family tonight because the owner couldn't wait 5 mins....they rip off the community and could care less about the people of volcano! Go anywhere else if you can!

Good for drinks and alcohol. They are a little more expensive but ok. Everyone wrote that the woman was rude, but that was not our experience. If you are nice to the people, they will be nice to you.
I would recommend this place if you want to support the locals

Good place to get snacks (including sandwiches, musubi) for hikes. Don’t recommend the coffee

One star is too generous, if I could I’d put half a star if that. The woman here was very rude. We parked in front of the store because we were going to the restaurant right beside the store and we parked two spots over from “where we were supposed to” she came over to the restaurant and said “you need to move your car we have 7 signs saying you can’t park there” and my sister apologized saying we didn’t see them, because we didn’t and the print is so small you can’t see them unless you’re two feet away from them. And said “well there are 7 signs so you should have” in a very snotty way.

Crabby cashier, no restrooms, refused to allow credit card for 3rd drink bc it was under $5 even though we just bought two others for $8.

Rude girl working there. Son asked nicely if they had a bathroom he could use and she yelled - we have signs! Sorry Ohelo cafe - your food smelled good and we were going to try but she ruined it for us.

Mean staff and expired food. Don’t go here if you are a tourist! They also charge insane prices (even for Hawaii type prices).

Great general store, excellent selection of microbrews and hard ciders.

Do not stop here if you are a smoker! The little madam at the counter tries to stop you smoking outside , contrary to Hawaii's 20-foot law. When I asked for a refund the little madam and her manager refused to refund for the unopened pack I had just bought because I used a debit card. Again contrary to Hawaii Law.

Best beer selection I came across on the big island. And they had decent (for Hawaii) prices too!

If I could give 0 stars I would. If you are a tourist I would not recommend visiting this place. We spent over $60 at this store, the markup on items is insane (and I understand Hawaii is expensive). Additionally, the lady at the front desk with long hair won't acknowledge you at checkout unless you are a local. This is frustrating considering the visitors from Volcanoes national park likely keep this place in business. We also bought some lunch meat here and it was VERY spoiled and stunk up the whole kitchen when we opened it. After we spent money here before eating lunch, and after lunch we got stared down and yelled at for being parked too close to the gas fill up area. If someone can't figure out how to angle their car to fill up gas, I'd recommend they take driving lessons or perhaps this business should block out this spot instead. Bottom line, don't spend your hard-earned money here.
