I got the Hawaiian burger and my wife got the fried shrimp. The food was definitely not fresh and was definitely reheated. The fried shrimp were eerily similar to what you can buy frozen at the grocery store and the burger left more to be desired. The fries were lukewarm at best. Expected a little more for $20-25 each.Service was adequate. From what we could tell there wasn't a dedicated bartender so if your waiter/waitress had a table with drinks they would have to pour your drink of choice themselves.

Food was ok, not great. Made a person in our group leave for bringing in his own food. We’ve never had an issue bringing in outside food into a restaurant before. People have food restrictions, allergies, etc. We would’ve left if there was another restaurant around but unfortunately this is it other than Thai.

One of the few restaurants near the national park that was open. The atmosphere was weaker and definitely did not excite me. The service was nice but a bit confused. She brought us the appetizer together with the main course and she still hasn't brought everything we ordered. The food was average. Our visit here was on March 14, 2024, around 4 p.m.

Wouldn't let me sit with family because I had outside food. I was planning on ordering a drink and dessert too, but I guess they'd rather get no business than some business.

Visited the Lava Rock Cafe after a long day at Volcano's National Park. The place is relatively small, sort of dive bar feel. The food was pretty basic, Hawaiian diner vibe. I had ordered the ribs which were super chewy and the sides were pretty bland. My friend had ordered the mac-nut fish which she said was good. They had a little gift shop next door that sold their salad dressing that was really tasty and some other cute souvenirs. The place is perfect if you just wanna grab a bite or a brew, I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to visit but it was solid for what we were feeling.
