3 well-designed tracks, but very sub-par grounds keeping. Driving range was also in rough shape. If you pay the full-rate green fee, you will be disappointed. If you’re going to play resort golf while in Waikoloa, the premium to play Mauna Lani or Mauna Kea is well worth it. Outside of the price and maintenance, the staff were nice and the clubhouse was a good spot.

Golf courses in Hawaii become extremely difficult when the wind blows. As usual, the third day was a strong wind and I couldn't get a good score at all. I will take revenge again.

A huge golf course on the beach, if you go golfing at lunchtime you should definitely pack something to drink.

Played last week while staying in the area. Played beach and kings. Beach has just two holes with an ocean view. Kings has a few interesting holes. Course could be better maintained for the location and the price. Many sand traps had not been power raked in a long while and were very hard like hitting off hard pack. Some hole locations looked like they had not been moved in weeks. No gps or yardage book to help a new player with strategy. No benches, ball washes, garbage cans on the course. Restaurant was closed when we finished.

After a few years, I had two rounds on November 4th and 6th, 2024.
It is a very beautiful golf course built on volcanic lava. A golf course with good fairways and top-notch greens. If you are a golfer traveling to Hawaii, I recommend that you play a round at least once.
A few years ago, it was an 18-hole Beach Course and an 18-hole King's Course, but now it has been changed to a 9-hole Beach Course, 9-hole Lake Course, and 9-hole King's Course, all 27-hole courses.
There is also a slightly cheaper second round package. (Before, there was also a 3 round package)
However, they provided coffee in the morning before, but this time I went there, they no longer provided coffee.
Also, the “Ali Burger with a Glass of Beer” menu at MAUKA Restaurant, which was offered at a low price with an event coupon after the round, has disappeared...
I felt a little sad.

Fun course with very friendly staff. Only complaint is that their bunkers are pea gravel.

If you stay at the Hilton properties, you can practice for free. They also provide equipment rentals at no charge. The surrounding scenery is stunning.

Never played the Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf, so wasn’t sure what to expect. The rates were much cheaper than on Kauai, and some of the holes were right on the ocean here. Paid inside the modern clubhouse, grabbed a cold one, and headed to the range. We promptly headed out to the first hole which was backed up by a foursome of beginners - and I mean beginners - it was like Ray Charles giving the other guy and 2 women lessons on every hole. We felt bad for the couple in front of us, having to wait for them.
We skipped a hole, and play was wide open the rest of the holes. Very scenic holes, especially down by the ocean, but it was really windy while we played that late morning. The greens were fair, the fairways green, and it was well worth the money spent.
The nice advantage of playing the back 9 was the ability to stop at Tropics - where we spent Sunday morning watching NFL games - to grab a cool one, and head back out on the course.
After golf, we headed inside the clubhouse and grabbed lunch - Originally being from Wisconsin, I had the fish and chips, which was just a great meal! Made from wahoo, it was super delicious. The rest of the group had sandwiches, and sponged off my meal.
I cant let the group of beginners bring the rating down, so I am giving Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf a solid 5 star rating. Would play this course again if we ever head back, you should too.

Just played the Beach and Lakes today. The tees, fairways and greens were in very good shape. The sand traps, however, were very poor. There wasn't any sand, only hard dirt. The staff was friendly. Overall, a good experience.

Nice, open 27-hole layout, not cheap to play.

King 10th hole is right in front of the room. I woke up, had some coffee, did a quick round, and went to the pool. I enjoyed playing resort golf. It's a two-seater cart, so it's comfortable, and there are several bottles of water in the cooler box. Before I left, I was worried because I had a slight stiffness in my lower back, but thanks to the energy from the lava, I was able to recover. The scenery and course are nice!

Waikoloa Beach Golf Resort is a visually stunning, and challenging golf course that offers lots of cool trouble to get into. :)
The first thing that stands out to me about this course is that it is surrounded by craggy lava rock outside of the fairways. So, when you OB out there, it is GONE. Also - I noticed that there are little goats that walk around on that lava rock, so if you're lucky, you'll see a family of them just chilling and exploring.
The course is somewhat remeniscent of what you'd expect with a hot climate Florida course in the sense that the blades of grass are somewhat thick and resistant to the strong heat and sunlight that beats down on it. So - there are times where you'll find yourself hitting out of the rough and you need to put a bit of muscle into it!
In terms of distance and difficulty, like most other courses, if you can reliably hit a straight ball and shape occasional shots, the course will be fair to you. There are a couple moments where you're navigating water hazards that inch up a little bit too close for comfort, but ignore it and you'll be fine.
The restaurant in this place also has some really great food. I had a seared ahi tuna sandwich on brioche, and it was one of the best cuts of fish i've ever eaten in my life. No BS. But even though I grew up near a beach, I think it may just be something that is plentiful here in this part of Hawaii. 🤷♀️
The best part of the round is where you get to play up alongside the oceanfront, with palm trees swaying in the wind, framed by thick lava rocks that run into the sand and get splashed with waves. That felt truly exotic and I was so excited to be there.
Overall,. this course is a bit expensive but overall it was a very beautiful course and it is a place that ought to be on your bucket list.
