Wife and I went here for dinner on a Friday night after seeing the reviews about their gluten free menu (and I'm vegetarian). We made reservations which I would suggest.Food was delicious. My wife had the Bolognese which was one of the best she ever had and they converted the daily special gnocchi to vegetarian for me. It was quite good, and so was the small Caesar. I got. The wait staff was attentive and good, answering all our questions. The space is fairly cramped and on a Friday it's definitely on the noisy side inside. For dessert my wife was delighted that there were 3 gluten free desert options. I had the coconut cannoli which was an interesting twist.Vegetarian options: Large number of vegetarian dishes or dishes that can be converted to vegetarian, clearly marked on the menu.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options for their pasta for a small upcharge.

The best meal of our Maui trip. Food was delicious. Wine list was good and reasonably priced. Server and hostess went out of their way to call our hotel shuttle, something we didn't even know was offered.

Food was great...touch on the expensive side.

Matteo's never fails to please. The service was fabulous. Delicious bread and olive oil dip to start. We had Butternut squash ravioli, squid ink pasta, Isola fish special and pasta Bolognese. Cannoli for dessert. Of course cocktails were involved. Great old fashion and expresso martini. The cannoli for dessert was yummy as well. Thank you Keanna for the great service.

Jake, our server was fantastic. The server helper was a wonderful young man too. Everyone was attentive, without being overwhelming or intrusive. We appreciated Jake's knowledge of the menu and he suggested great wine pairings.

I was very excited to visit Matteo on our trip to Maui. We had made a reservation and everything went smoothly, until my two year old daughter started becoming a little antsy. The general manager was waiting our table and he made several comments about how my daughter was playing with the menu and how she was going to “rip it apart” and how he designed the menu. Most staff acknowledged kids at restaurants but I felt judge that we brought our daughter here. Won't be returning

Food has gone downhill. Lasagna used to be great but was only good. The Cannolis were much smaller than they used to be. 1/2" x 3" instead of 1"x4". Their parma Appetizers was very bland. The bread with oil & balsamic was the best part of the meal. Our server was very condescending. We were there for our 50th wedding anniversary, and nothing was mentioned or done.Overall, it was underwhelming.

Food is good....prices are higher than they should be for the level of service and atmosphere. Service was poor for a $300 dinner for 4 with 2 beers and a glass of wine. Owner should visit Merriman's and get some pointers. The food here with Merriman's level of service would be 5 star.

We love dining at Matteo's normally.. Last night was the first evening we were really disappointed. My husbands gnocchi special was barely warm; the lamb ragout was barely evident in the dish. My eggplant parm appetizer that I ordered as dinner was more cheese than eggplant. The best part of the meal was the Ferrari Prosecco I ordered for my beverage. Fortunately, I ordered a split which kind of made up for the mediocre experience Michael was put wait staff and as always, he did an excellent job. We have another 6 weeks here. Hopefully our next dining experience is better than this.

We had a great meal again at Matteo's. The bruschetta, both with ahi and vegetarian, was wonderful. The spaghetti bolognese and the butternut squash ravioli were awesome. Highly recommended.

The food is always delicious and the service phenomenal. Our waiter was happy to customize our orders to our individual preferences. They even had gluten free options for me. We've eaten there on several occasions and have always had a great experience.

Our last visit to Matteo's was 5 Star but this time it was off the mark. We were seated quickly at our requested table. At first the service was good but as the meal progressed our server was invisible. The busboy did a much better job! Our meal did not meet the standard of our last meal there. The Caprese salad was good but skimpy with one piece of prosciutto..for an extra $9! This is the first time that I had the Misto Salad. Again, there were hardly any beets, three pieces of dry fennel, no mint and just a small handful of Kale. The dressing was definitely not Saba. My husband chose the Isola again. What a surprise to see a hunk of Mahi Mahi on risotto....no cake and two thinly sliced mushrooms in a weak sauce for $64. The last time he had this dish it was awesome with a risotto cake to die for..where was it! I chose the Gnocchi Special. It was very tasty but had very very soft texture. The shrimp was adequate. We did have dessert this time. The no flour chocolate cake special was dry and the cannoli, which I love, were very disappointing. We paired the meal with a great bottle of Amarone. ..the best part of the meal. Not sure if we will be back. Too bad as this was a milestone Birthday night that really disappointed.

We sat at the bar and the bar tender was delightful. Another couple was seated in front of the door and was unhappy with the draft. They finally let them move. I don't understand why people can not chose where they sit at the bar as long as they appreciate the number of chairs. Otherwise dinner was great.

Service was just ok, meal was lukewarm. Waiter complained his section was too full, kitchen was too fast, things out of his control. It was everyone else's fault. Asked for pepper never got any. He had a bus person or two... He offered a free dessert, we don't eat dessert.

Completely underwhelmed by the food and service. The portions were on the small size, the drinks seemed very weak and the service was just so so. Despite having a reputation as very high end, the salads and entrees that were brought to the table were placed at the wrong seats (that should be really clear from the waitstaff to the kitchen runner). The strangest part was being asked to vacate the table for “people waiting outside,” despite not finishing our wines. The table behind had the exact same experience. We are aware there is a time limit stated when booking a reservation, but it would be really helpful to have the waiter state that at the start, something like “As you’re aware, this table is reserved for you until 6:30.”
