My 74-year-old husband is unable to walk or stand independently. He is being scheduled for numerous surgeries if the condition is deemed operable. I recently spent over $1200 on a mobility scooter which never once worked. We were given fruitless telephone advice, told we'd be charged $175 for a service call, told they did not know when they would do this service call after six weeks of trying on our own and with useless advice from them. When I, as a nurse practitioner and disability advocate, called to support my immobile husband on my my day off (today), I was threatened with an attorney for requesting a refund on a broken piece of medical equipment. I was called "ma'am" about a dozen times when I asked to be addressed professionally and then told by the speaker that he was not sure why my title was important. This is how we treat disabled and their caregivers, as well as the local medical community? Their word is as good as their broken equipment.

I rented a beach wheelchair for one week for my son in law, who would be visiting over the Christmas Holiday, starting Dec. 23. The first opportunity we had to use it was Dec. 27. When we tried to use it, the frame tilted forward resting on the front wheels which made it impossible to use. We did manage, with one of us pulling and one pushing to get him out on the sand for the one day but it took a ridiculous amount of energy. Since it was the holidays, we didn't want to waste the 3 to 4 hours it would take to return it to Kamuela when we could be with family. Needless to say, my son in law was very disappointed in not being able to watch his kids at the beaches for the rest of his vacation. We didn't call them because we assumed it was a faulty product. When my daughter and the family left the island, I returned the wheelchair and asked for a refund since it wasn't usable. The person at Ban-Nix, Daniel, showed me that it was necessary to remove a cotter pin, pull up on another pin and swivel the front wheels 180 degrees to they were ahead of the frame. I said that it would have been nice to know that at the time of rental or be furnished with instructions. He said that since we had it for a week and didn't call them, he wouldn't issue a refund. I sent an email to the owner and got the same reply, no refund, despite the fact that they gave it to us in an unusable configuration with no instructions, and we got pretty much zero use of it. It's pretty obvious that they are only focused on the bottom line and could care less about customer satisfaction. They took zero responsibility for giving it to us in an unusable condition.

Carol was extremely pleasant and kind when I called Banix asking for information on a piece of medical equipment. She went out of her way to get the piece of equipment to me. I can’t thank her enough.

Mahalo, Carl, for all your help! Other than calling you to rent a scooter for my Hawaii trip, you did all the work - you ensured that the scooter was already at the rental property when we arrived and you made arrangements for pick-up when we left. I don't know what I would have done without the scooter during this stay -- probably stay in the car while the others walked around. I really appreciate the information you provided, the friendliness and patience you showed when I asked the multitude of questions. Mahalo!

I would give 5 stars gladly.Unfortunately they are Only open 10am till 1pm. Understandable with Covid yet it would be times like these that I would gratefully welcome more hours of operation. Staff is Excellent and Billing is on point! Hopefully the near future would have more hours open, and on weekends.

I arrived on the island for a 10 day vacation and forgot a crucial part of my CPAP system at home and had a terrible first night of sleep. I called all the medical supply businesses on the island and no one had the part in stock. I happened to be in Waimea and visited this store and explained my predicament to the gentleman working. After looking around, he did not have the part in stock either. My only option at this point was to spend a bunch of money on a whole different mask system, which I was about to do. The clerk then excused himself and disappeared into the back of the store, only to return some 5 minutes later with the part I was in dire need of. He was able to find the part and instead of making a sale on a new mask, he got me what I needed. That is extremely great customer service for a tourist he knows he will never have the opportunity to sell to in the future. If I was a local, he would have a customer for life. Thank you sir! You made our vacation!! I would highly recommend Ban-Nix Home Medical Equipment!!

Can't say enough about the service I received today. I'm in the process of moving to town and am still traveling back and forth to the mainland every few weeks. My main CPAP machine is in Ohio, and I began to realize my need for a machine here (not fun or productive to be groggy every day in Hawaii!). I called and received some initial information, and I was later able to go in and purchase an amazing, portable CPAP device. But most of all, the entire staff of this family-run business went above and beyond- from arranging to look up my prescription and previous sleep study in Ohio, to activating the machine, pairing it with the phone app, and generally making sure I was comfortable with the equipment. I started the day with a need, and I'm ending it with everything I need for a good night's sleep. Fantastic! I will direct anyone who needs medical supplies to Ban-Nix. 5+ Stars!!
