I have had my auto loan with FHB for over 2 years and never missed a payment. In July there was a problem with my bank located on the mainland so there were two missed payments. No one called me or let me know this was happening. I was in the hospital and had 10 emergency surgeries. My spouse called and said two guys were trying to repo the car!!!!!! Unbelievable. When my spouse went in to the branch to pay they were nasty to her since she didn't have the payment coupon booklet. I don't bank here because it's so old school. I can't wait to get my loan paid off and get away from FHB forever. NO ALOHA- when you are dying they will come and repo your car for 2 missed payments.

Victor on the Big Island at First Hawaiian Bank is AMAZING and represents FHB with a First Class rating on how to handle customers. He is an ASSET to this company of solving problems and concerns. He was so helpful in assisting to help me get my online account open. ABSOLUTELY no one else could. For 3 weeks no one could do it. Online or at the bank where I opened my account. He assisted me and dealt with this antiquated bank system! He did it patiently, persistently and finally now it's done. 3 weeks later. Thank you VICTOR it is ONLY because of you this bank gets 5 STARS! ONLY BECAUSE of YOU!

On September 23rd I saw a fraudulent online withdrawal from my account. I reported it. My account has been locked since September 27th. On October 6th, I received a postal notification assigning me a PIN for a card ending in 5327. As of October 18, I still have not received a replacement debit card! My Spectrum phone service has been disconnected since October 10th. All of my online services have shut me down and are clamoring for payment with a new card. I'm 84, broke, stressed-out, and can't access my money. I feel that I am being punished because a hacker got through my firewalls and victimized me. "There HAS to be a better bank policy to alleviate this situation of freezing one's funds. I will check my mailbox ONE more time tomorrow Oct. 19. If no card, I will drive from North Kohala to Kamuela and sit down with the FHB Manager, and not leave until I have access to my $$. Sincerely, Frank 'Palani' Cipriani 10/18/22.

If you like long lines, long holds on the phone, regularly being locked out of your online account and slow in-bank transactions then this is the bank for you. It just took an hour+ to activate my debit card over the phone, this is something that takes less than a minute with each of my other two banks and all of my many other credit cards (it is 2022 for heaven’s sake). Girl on the phone apologized for the long wait time…it’s not her fault, First Hawaiian Bank sucks, it’s always a long wait time.

Impossible to reach this bank to get answers to even simple questions. If you're out of town trying to get help from your bank to resolve any kind of emergency, forget it. You're better off keeping your money under your mattress. Banked here for over twenty years and now I regret every one.

DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS BRANCH!! As a new customer I went into the branch to make a cash deposit. The line was nearly out the door and when I finally reached the teller she treated me as if I was an inconvenience and said next time instead of waiting in line I should use their new ATM feature to deposit cash and that cash would be available to me right away! I left thinking great, I don't have to stand in line. The following week I made a cash deposit through the ATM and my funds were not available to me for 48hours. After the 48 hours only $200 of my cash deposit was available and the rest took another 2 days to become available. I called customer service and after waiting on hold for 20 min I chose the option for a representative to call me back. Well a day later I got a call back and the ATM cash deposit feature was properly explained to me. Well, the following week I go to make a cash deposit again through the ATM because apparently this bank understands banking hours to be 8:30-4pm instead of 9-5 like every other bank in the USA. This time when I went to make the cash deposit the ATM told me that the cash deposit was not available at this time. This was a major inconvenience because I have automatic withdraws set up and because of my work I cannot make cash deposits inside the bank during their business hours closing at 4pm. So I called customer service again and waited on hold for 30 min and finally again choose the option for someone to call me back. The next day when they finally called me back they said I needed to speak with a supervisor and that since one wasn't available-at that time, they would have them call me. Well no call back as of three days later. I when tried calling back to speak with a supervisor again and was told the same thing. No one is available. Someone will call back in 10 min. Needless to say that was 3 days ago! How can a branch incorrectly advertise a new feature and then when I go to use it I am not able to.. Ive now been charged overdraft fees by the bank because their new feature does not let me deposit my cash? And no one will even contact me to discuss a resolution for the issue! Horrible service, horrible business.

I have always had a great experience at this regional location. I have opened a checking and savings account here. I also make deposits multiple times a week, therefore I have a good sense of the place and the people who work there. Everyone has on a friendly face and all of the tellers have been helpful each time I have gone. I am grateful to their ability to work quick and efficiently so that you never have to wait in line too long. If you are looking for a great branch with kind people, this would be a good one to start any account with!

Good bank and all services needed from regular banking to business banking, loans, wire transfers. Fast lines and nice staff. Located in the main road in Kamuela in Parker ranch shopping Plaza. Closes at 4pm weekdays and 130pm Saturday. Atm located outside and has deposit at the atm also.
