Kīholo State Park Reserve is a popular and beautiful beach spot known for its black sand and rocky shoreline. Visitors appreciate the good road and parking, though a 4x4 vehicle is recommended to reach the parking area, as the road can be bumpy and long. The reserve offers a variety of activities, including snorkeling, diving, fishing, and enjoying the scenic coast. Many visitors enjoy seeing turtles and dolphins, especially in the mornings. There are limited facilities, such as chemical toilets and several picnic tables, making it suitable for day use and picnics. Camping is available in designated areas among the trees, with about eight campsites that can be reserved 30 days in advance; reservations are checked around sunset. The beach is accessible via a short walk from the parking area, which may involve navigating rocks and lava, so good walking shoes, sunblock, water, and a hat are recommended. The reserve features a playground called Mother Nature and is a dog-friendly spot for day visitors. Gates close at 7 p.m., ensuring a quiet environment in the evenings. Overall, it’s a scenic and enjoyable destination for outdoor activities and nature lovers.
Free, cool park and beach. Parking is limted and I would strongly suggest coming in SUV.

Definitely the go to beach spot. Road and parking is good. Turn off Queens highway and about a half mile. Camp to left. Queen bath and snorkeling to the right.
