Lapakahi State Historical Park is a captivating destination for those interested in Hawaiian history. Situated along the coast, the park offers stunning ocean views and easy access to snorkeling. Visitors can explore the well-preserved ancient town, dating back 600 years, by following the marked trails that guide them through the different sites. With a map in hand, visitors can learn about the rich history as they stroll through the two loops, each around 0.5 and 0.3 miles long. Though the park may not have a lot to see, the beach and ocean views, as well as the opportunity to spot a variety of colorful fish, make it a worthwhile stop, especially on the way to the north coast. The park's rocky terrain can make it a bit hot, but the peaceful atmosphere and historical significance make it a great addition to any Big Island itinerary.
