Waimea Theatre is the only movie theater on Kaua’i, an old school and old theatre at its finest with a hometown feel and cool interior. It is a cozy, local, and informal setting, described as the little theater that could. The community is grateful it is still in operation and used by the community. The theater has one screen with one showing per day and the movie switches only every couple of weeks, so the selection is limited. However, it is a super fun activity and experience on the island. The seating is comfortable, the projector gives a bright crisp picture, and the sound system is good. Concessions have the usual selections and prices, though lines are long. Some note the popcorn is not good and the air conditioning can be too cold. Overall, it offers a very fair price and a laid back, mellow, fun experience, making it a worthwhile trip for a movie treat.
Wonderful quaint historic building with a flair of authenticity. Theater goers travel from the North Shore to the East, South and West to not only see movies but special events too! Go check it out and say hi to Thomas!
