On July 27, 2024, I paid Aamco on Fairview $1110.40 to install a rebuilt manual transmission I had ordered for my fairly nice 1973 GMC Squarebody. The transmission cost around $2300 with a separate one year warranty. It already had a NEW clutch, flywheel and throw-out bearing prior to Aamco getting it, installed in April. The clutch was FINE when it was installed. Immediately upon paying my bill and receiving my truck, I noticed that the clutch pedal depressed WAY easier than before, and I IMMEDIATELY questioned Jason at the desk about it. I asked him what they did to make it so easy to press? The reply was, "They said they don't know, they just put it back together the way it came apart".....serious RED FLAG!!!!!!.....later that day the clutch pedal firmed up without explanation. Fast forward 2 months. All of the sudden, I'm noticing racket coming from my clutch and the clutch pedal depresses differently every time I press it, sometimes, it won't even release the clutch!! This is DANGEROUS in traffic!!!!! So, I take it back to Jason at Aamco. He SEES what I'm talking about after looking at the vehicle with me a moment, but wants me to schedule it in later on just to even get a diagnosis. Not to be out of line or anything, at this point, I'm starting to become leery of them. After all, if they couldn't identify what they did wrong when they put it in in the first place, why would I trust them to diagnose it now? So, I took matters into my own hands. (I was the one who installed the original transmission and brand new clutch to begin with) And so the diagnostic began. I wound up replacing my clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder just to make sure it wasn't the problem. It was NOT. Upon inspection, it was the CLUTCH FORK was not installed in the correct position INSIDE THE CLUTCH. To fix this requires an ENTIRE removal of the transmission, place the clutch fork correctly and put it back in. Then I found out from Jason how it happened. When they installed my $2300 REBUILT transmission, they didn't take loose the bell housing from the engine(even though they said they would when I went in), they just unbolted the old transmission out of the bell housing without removing it and put the new transmission in, knocking the clutch fork out of position. HUGE NO NO!!!! It's standard automotive procedure to make absolutely SURE that a CLUTCH is in proper working order before INSTALLING an entire TRANSMISSION, because if you don't, the transmission may need to be removed AGAIN. Not only that, if something was WRONG (maybe a part needed replacement) with my clutch, I should have been INFORMED while it was still ON THE LIFT, and given repair options. I was NOT informed! This is standard automotive repair practice. A bad clutch can be considered a SAFETY HAZARD and could cause an accident, and/or get someone injured or killed. Now, they want to hem and haw about it and act like they don't know what's wrong (so they can likely try to charge me more $$$), so I won't be taking my vehicle back there. Not only that, I found out through Aamco Customer Service and other Aamco shops that Aamco will not honor a labor warranty at ANY OTHER AAMCO LOCATION besides the location I initially went to. (This was part of why I CHOSE Aamco, because I have a mother in Oklahoma. If something went wrong, it would have been HUGE for Aamco to back up their work) I'll NEVER go to another Aamco again, and would recommend that others follow suit. Some people may think that Aamco is credited by the BBB. They are NOT. BEWARE PEOPLE!! So, and I know these IDIOTS are already going to say it, "UH DUHHHHH, why should we be responsible for a warranty when you supplied the parts?" Well, you fucking IDIOTS, just because I PROVIDE you with a transmission doesn't mean that you barely bolt it in and let it fall out on the ground for $1110.40. You are warranting your WORK, NOT MY PARTS!!!!! Rotten pieces of shit!!!!!!!!! I'll post more photos LATER. Keep ducking resposibilit

Solid shop. Jason at the front desk is a plethora of vehicle knowledge. Honestly believe he can diagnose most problems sight unseen. Both their State street shop and their Fairview shop have worked on my vehicles. Have always felt the pricing was fair. I believe they are always forthcoming with potential extra expenses and work diligently to ensure no money goes wasted. Haven't met their technicians but have never had to tighten a bolt behind them. They seem to have a solid team there.

Correctly diagnosed a transfer case problem after other shops had misdiagnosed and over quoted us. Been almost a year since the repair and the car is still running great. Nice work guys!

Jason and his team provided excellent customer service with clear and constant communication throughout the entire process. When a shop provides open and honest communication like these guys do, I become a repeat customer. Will be coming back in the future and recommending to all my friends and family.

A+++ Jason. You and your team earned 6 stars in my book as well as my future business. I can be very detailed at times, and these guys matched it with smiling effort. Never is a fix or a repair anywhere, ever perfect perfect, but Jason and his team are by far the closest to it that I have ever come across. They have serviced all 3 of my vehicles, which had major issues. Two of which were transmission rebuilds. But their customer service went way, way beyond that and with a smile. My daughter is excited to receive her vehicle back in nearly brand new working order according to the both of us. She could not be happier and I couldn't be more pleased with the results.

I've taken my truck there twice. Being a single woman,I am always nervous to get work done and being taken advantage of. Jason was professional and kind. He explained everything to me in detail. I recommend anyone to see him.He even offered to get me to work if I needed because a part was late in delivery. My truck will only go to this aamco for any repairs.Thank you Jason for all of your understanding of my fears and apprehension. I will be back.Just figured out how to add all my stars. So I'm modifying my review.Great guys and service Jason

DO NOT GO TO AAMCO TRANSMISSIONSI was charged $1,758.20 for labor, $298.00 for parts, $75.00 for supplies, and $22.38 tax for a total of $2,153.58 for a transmission repair that this shop installed less than 22 months ago and after only 8,453 miles for $3,026.80. It’s only my opinion, but I feel the manager really missed out on an opportunity for good customer service. The parts and labor he is supposed to guarantee only lasted 8,453 miles and he still happily charged me $2,153.58. Transmissions are supposed to last the lifetime of the vehicle. Take your vehicle some where else.

Had my 20 yr old car fixed up here with new cv joints, timing belt, and a once over - this guy is super knowledgeable and really helped to get my car back to running like a champ. Very responsive to any questions I had and never felt obligated to commit to anything or felt like I was being taken advantage of - honest, helpful, and quick turnaround. Will definitely return when needed in the future.
