Spent an hour the phone. First person that answered cut me off rudely and told me she was the wrong department. I picked registration but she was license renewal. Instead of transferring me she sent me back to the beginning of the phone tree. The next person was just as rude.

Went to register a vehicle, the previous owner accidentally wrote down his name on the buyer section of the title and crossed it out, a minor mistake that most rational people would ignore, which had been my previous experience at another DMV when I had the same mistake happen, but not here, they told me I needed to have an indemnifying affidavit SIGNED and filled out. I googled and did research to make sure they didn’t have to fill anything else out, and I was correct, all the legal writing is already on the printed paper and they just need to sign their name. I drove an hour back to buyers house, where he had his twin infants sleeping, now crying because his dogs are barking, because I had to show up to get a signature. I get his signature and go all the way back to this DMV and they tell me he has to write down more information and as to why i’m allowed to buy this vehicle.(Though if you research this, AND AS THIS DMV TOLD ME SPECIFICALLY, i only need his signature and other basic information) Of course they closed in 10 minutes and I had to have the owner come meet me in the parking lot of the DMV after hours just to write down some reasoning as to why i am allowed to purchase this vehicle. None of this is required by law, especially this extra bullshit they made up about having to write extra stuff about why i am allowed to purchase this vehicle.
Go to ANY other DMV in Idaho.
Honestly praying the wheels loses his fingers and the michelin man i first dealt with needs to eat a salad before his heart bursts

I came to the Boise DMV on Franklin Rd expecting pain and suffering… instead, I left questioning my life choices—in a good way.
Their website told me exactly what to bring, like a freaky little checklist whispering, “bring that birth certificate, you dirty little citizen.” I obeyed. I came prepared.
Then they called me up fast. No line torture, no soul-crushing wait. Just in, out, and fully processed. I didn’t know government service could move this quick—I felt seen, touched (emotionally), and borderline aroused by their efficiency.
The staff? Firm, direct, and clearly used to handling people like me who just want it over with. I walked out renewed, licensed, and needing a cigarette I don’t even smoke.
Boise DMV, you kinky little overachiever. I’ll be back.

If they don't like something about you here, they will make you take countless unnecessary steps to get what you need accomplished. Or they will also hit you with extreme unnecessary fees. I was once told it was going to be over 200 to register my vehicle. When I went back with the money, I paid less than 100 with a different customer service rep. If there is any way they can scam you out of more money, they will. I'm not sure if it's all going to the dmv or just in their pockets, but they need to be investigated.

Came into this branch to register my moped by getting a vin verification after being told to by IDT, the rude younger girl didnt listen or care to hear about the specs on the moped nor did anyone verify my vin to see what i was talking about. She instantly got an attitude stating well its 49cc so its an ohv vehicle.. so you cant ride it on public roads... but yet at the end of all of this i went to chinden location and Heather looked into it and got me the right info and registration!!!! This rude young girl didnt care to take the time to look into anything further, all she wanted to do was dismiss us and banter back and forth! I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS BRANCH AGAIN AS LONG AS CHINDEN IS OPEN!!!!
UPDATE: even when you call the branch manager and leave another employee your contact info to call you back and he doesnt, shows you how much they care!!!

I had the most excellent experience at the DMV today with Amanda, the personalized plate I wanted wasn’t allowed by the system and the word wasn’t offensive. Instead of dismissing my want for the plate she called to the appropriate department and after about 25 minutes on the phone she found out that word was accidentally on the not allowed list, the department moved it over to the allowed list and I was able to get the plate I wanted. She really went the extra mile and made my day. Thanks Amanda!

Purchased a personal plate and not told oh the name is taken by law enforcement/government people no I get a letter a week after saying I need to change it then I go in and deal with a woman with red hair who was very rude and and didn't want to do her job and this is pathetic and very unprofessional I will not be coming back to this location

Josh was very helpful and patient. We came in right before they closed and he still diligently helped me with switching over my title. He should've been gone ten minutes ago but he finished helping me. Very personable and kind.
