Pharmacy is up and down but over the decades I've only had one bad experience with the front end desks and I have felt cared for and loved and there is great selection and more good than bad with pharmacy

UPDATE: I switched to Sav-On and the people there were very helpful. They told me to have my doctor call them to complete the transfer because “whenever we call Rite-Aid, they don’t answer the phone.”
Original review: Don’t walk, run. I hadn’t had any major issues with this pharmacy until my latest 90 day refill in July. I don’t have a car, so I ordered it by USPS delivery as soon as I got the (late) auto-refill text. After rationing my meds for nearly a week I called to ask when I should expect my refill to arrive, and they told me it hadn’t shipped yet but they would get it sent out right away. Surprise surprise, they didn’t. By the time I had a day off work and could have a friend drive me there in person, I had been off my meds for several days. The guy who checked me out was very nice but had no idea what was going on. He told me he was just filling in. To top it all off, the fill date listed on the bottle was a week *before* I got a text that it was ready, so it had been just sitting there for weeks while I ran out of meds.
I have a lot of empathy for people in the service industry who are overworked and understaffed, but this isn’t the service industry—it’s a pharmacy. My medication is dangerous to stop taking suddenly, but there didn’t seem to be any sense of urgency knowing that they’re dealing with life-or-death medical issues. I was hoping it was just a one-off issue, but based on the other recent reviews it doesn’t look like it. I’m now 3 days away from running out of meds again with no word from the pharmacy and I’m worried about repeating the whole process. Like another reviewer said, if Rite-Aid is having trouble keeping this location staffed they need to increase their pay or do something else to attract employees because the way they’re doing things now is unacceptable. Personally after I get this next refill I’ll be switching to the Sav-On across the street.

Update: I escalated this to rite aid corporate, nothing was done. After 2 more months of delayed prescriptions i switched to customedica and the difference has been night and day.
Edit: Rite Aid responded to my negative review immediately, but it took me 4 days of calling and going in to the pharmacy to get my prescription filled.
This is the worst pharmacy I’ve ever dealt with. I can never get anyone on the phone, when I go in to the store they say my prescription will be ready in half an hour and then it is not ready. I’m going on 4 days off of a medication I should be taking daily and they just keep telling me that they’re so behind because all of their technicians quit and they’ll get to it, but it’s been days and I don’t have my medication yet. This is unacceptable when you’re a PHARMACY who deals with MEDICATION for people that could be life or death. This is unacceptable and I will be complaining to Rite Aid corporate about what’s going on in this Idaho store. It is unacceptable for national brands to abuse their local communities like this. If it was just a retail store, I would just stop going. But this rite aid is the only pharmacy that has my medication in stock. Don’t give this store any of your money if you can help it, they aren’t taking care of their patients.

Nobody EVER answers the pharmacy phone, so you have to make a trip to the pharmacy to request the refill and then return to pick it up! It seems implausible that any business has this much trouble staying staffed. Perhaps the company should consider hiring people at a higher wage so they can properly staff the pharmacy. I will be moving my prescriptions to a new pharmacy!

This is for the pharmacy in the Rite Aid at 1515 State St., Boise, ID. Dhara, at the pharmacy counter has horrible customer service. No greeting, just simply asked for my date of birth. Why so smug when telling a customer they’ll have to come back tomorrow? Why do customers need to hear all the reasons it is not her fault that their prescription isn’t ready, or how many prescriptions they fill in a day, or if someone wants to use the Rx discount card they will have to come back tomorrow? Maybe she’s not working tomorrow. She clearly didn’t want to work today.

I dropped off my prescription 2 days before I came to pick it up and the lady at the counter first told me that I didn't have any prescription at there pharmacy. After I told her I dropped them off 2 days ago and that I needed to make sure they didn't lose the prescription she told me that they did have the prescription and that it was going to be at least 2 hours before it could be filled because they have over 700 prescriptions to fill. I dropped this off to days prior. Terrible customer service. If you tried to call the pharmacy to see if your prescription is ready they say that they are unable to answer your call and then take you back to the main menu.

Thank you for the reminder of why I quit coming here! The prescription was sent over for well over 5 hours ago, but yet we still have to wait over an hour to get it filled when we come in to get it. Do you guys not check your computers? Or just choose to ignore it Happens every time. I won’t be coming back. Wondering how long this location will remain open with the rest of them closing. Customer service went out the window with Covid. Thanks Rite Aid!

The closest drug store I could find near downtown, on W State St in a standalone plaza. Their lot provides a fair amount of parking.
Large, spacious, and clean with self-serve checkout stations and a drive-thru pharmacy. I think they also offer some Western Union banking services.
