I set an appointment over the phone with Lake City Auto Care in Hayden for December 14, 2023. When I set the appointment, no effort was made to give me a quote for the standard things I wanted done to my vehicle, which included an oil change and replacing the spark plugs and spark plug wires. I found this to be unusual. There was also no quote given for replacing the parking brake wire, which I let them know was severed right where it enters the rear brake drum. I know they have books to consult that provide the typical labor hours for each vehicle make and model, so it was the first red flag. I have a 2002 Nissan Frontier. When I arrived and had confirmed my information, I waited in the lobby for a while and then received quotes. I was quoted $600-plus to replace the spark plugs and wires. The oil change cost was typical and not exorbitant. I opted to not have either service because of the ridiculous price. Then, I was told that they needed to do a visual inspection on my severed parking brake cable. At first, I did not realize that they were going to look it over right where it was parked on Atlas Road. Several minutes later, when I realized that it was the service advisor that was going to do the visual inspection, I went outside to see. I was told that they would have to overhaul the entire thing. When the service advisor told me this, he was pointing at the rear brake cable on my truck, not the parking brake cable. When I called him out on this, he insisted at first that they were one in the same. This is not so! I had to state this a few times to get the idea across that I know the two are not the same and that I simply needed them to replace the parking brake wire as it entered the driver's side rear brake drum. I pointed to the driver's-side rear brake drum cable to both demonstrate that I knew the difference between it and the driver's-side parking brake cable and to show the former was not severed where it entered the rear brake drum. At this point, the service advisor was smirking. He told me that the driver's-side rear brake drum cable was disconnected where it branched off closer to the center underside of the truck. I told him that have never had problems with my rear brakes, only the parking brake cable. He showed me where it was disconnected, and there is indeed something disconnected, but I am not sure which of the two cables it is. After I write up this incident, I will check to see which cable someone has disconnected. The service advisor made no mention of the parking brake cable whatsoever. The latter was the object of my service request.Unfortunately, he had likely several minutes to disconnect whichever cable before I met him outside. I did not directly see him disconnect the cable. When I approached my vehicle, he was doing the visual inspection with his hands on something and had clearly pulled with a strong tug on something in that same area where the cables branch off to either wheel. Since my vehicle was right on Atlas Road, it was unsafe for me to inspect which cables have been disconnected. He did show me a cable that appears to be disconnected. He was saying that it will be expensive because they do not know where they have to feed the cable back to in the front of the vehicle. Immediately after writing up this account, I will check to find out which cable has been disconnected.

Scam. They tried charging me $4,400 to replace a bunch of s*** on my car and $100 at auto zone later my cars running smoother than before. They also used the shittiest oil possible, do not go to this place just fix your car at home.

Pretty expensive, nearly $1400 for a transmission service, idler wheel and serpentine belt replacement. They also quoted unnecessary work which leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Transmission feels better but the squeak that the ac is making is still there which is why the changed the tension idler wheel. Overall I feel we over paid for what we got, likely won't be back.

I would give Lake City Auto Care more stars if I could because they went above and beyond to help us out. We are from Cheyenne Wyoming and are here on vacation when our Jeep had an issue in the morning. We tried every Jeep dealership within 100 miles and the best any of them could do was diagnose our Jeep (not fix it) by the end of the day. We went to Lake City and Ben helped us out by getting us in and out in under an hour. We would have paid any amount, but the price was very reasonable (less than the minimum the dealership wanted to just diagnose the problem) nd the Jeep is running like a champ! It is rare to see a company with compassion.

Was quickly greeted and well taken care of. Diagnosed, fixed and had me back on the road in a couple hours which was a great blessing.

These guys took 10 months to "fix" my car, for $900, I had to keep calling week after week to ask what's going on & they had different excuses every time. When I finally did get it back this month (it got dropped off August 2020) there was mold all over everything & my interior has been ruined because whatever they did with it all winter let water soak in. Everything literally has thick fuzzy mold. I complained & they said they would get it detailed, then returned it to me 2 weeks later not detailed & still covered I mold. I've never had a worse experience with a mechanic & am astounded at the unprofessionalism. They are trying to say it's my fault the jeep leaks but it has NEVER leaked or had mold before I brought it here. They made up lies about

Total rip off. Just the same as going to a dealership. I would not recommend bringing your vehicle to the rip off spot

Over the years, my wife and I have had a variety of experiences with car mechanics. Some were good and some were bad. A few were very bad. That's why we're always happy when we find an honest, reliable mechanic who we can trust to perform routine maintenance and repair our cars. When we moved to CDA, a friend of ours recommended Lett's automotive. We took our car there and liked the owner, who we found to be honest and reliable. We went there for years and were always happy with the price and results. Then within the last couple of years, Lett's was sold to Lake City Auto Care. When this happened, we were initially concerned because we didn't know anything about the people who had taken over the business. When we took our car there, we found that they had remodeled the counter and waiting area (a nice improvement) and the people were very nice and helpful. Since then, we have taken both of our cars there several times for various repairs and service. The people at Lake City have always treated us like valued customers. They are very upfront about what repairs are needed (and those which are not needed). We also found that they really want to make sure their customers are happy with their service and will work with them to get them what they need at a reasonable price. They even have a loaner car for those customers who don't have a ride home. Most importantly, we've found them to be as honest and reliable as Lett's (if not more so). Because of this, we've been recommending Lake City Auto Care to our family and friends and will continue to do so. Ron and Diane Weber Coeur d'Alene

Lake City Auto is the only place I'll take my car for service from now on. They performed a courtesy inspection on a 2011 Subaru outback I recently purchased. I brought the car in because there was no record of a timing belt and the car had over 100k miles on it. I was greeted by Chris who has wonderful costumer service and a wealth of automotive knowledge. They offered me a loaner car as they inspected my Subaru at no extra charge which is a very nice service when you think your car will be in the shop for a couple of days. Then I got "the call". What extra services have they found to preform? How much will everything cost? Am I going to understand anything this guy is saying? Chris explained that the timing belt appeared to already have been replaced along with the water pump. The rear brakes need replacement but otherwise the car looks great. What!?!? They didn't just automatically replace the timing belt like I had asked to make the money? They actually evaluated it and told me the honest truth! My car was well cared for and the needed services we're preformed at a very reasonable price with exemplary care. No "extra" services we're recommended. I felt extremely well cared for at Lake City Auto and highly recommend Chris and his team. Thank you all

Dont take your subaru here. Helpful, patient but when I received my outback back after a clutch replacement it wasnt long before my front WHEELS STARTED FALLING OFF. The axle nuts were unnecessarily loosened and never tightened. This cost me two wheel bearings and countless hours of grief.

Lake City Auto Care is the only place we trust to take care of our Service Vehicles. The staff and Ben understand that our vehicles are our lifeline to our business and customers and take great care in getting us back on the road in a timely manner.

Lake City Auto does great work! I needed my timing belt replaced and went to them. I also asked them to do an oil change. The price for both was really reasonable. On top of that you can borrow a loaner vehicle for free which saves you the money of having to rent! The customer service was great and they communicated well while my car was in the shop. You won't be disappointed!

I recently purchased a used truck from Lake City. They had performed some service on the truck before selling it to me, which later ended up causing unexpected issues. I contacted Ben, the owner and he worked with me to make the situation right. They are very honest and trustworthy folks.

As a combat veteran having served 3 tours (1 to Afghanistan and 2 to Iraq) as an Airborne medic with the 82nd Airborne Div and an overall career of 10 yrs. I am very particular about putting my name on any review let alone finding the time to write one. However after my experience with Lake City pre-owned I felt something needed to be said. I was after a 2003 Jaguar X-type that was very competitively priced and had no shortage of other people ready to step in if I flaked on the deal. I contacted Ben about the vehicle and he responded within seconds answering my questions promptly. Then after a conversation I knew I needed to act quick on this vehicle so I inquired about completing the transaction same-day. Ben had a prior engagement in the Spokane Valley that evening and could sacrifice some family time to throw in on a carrier bringing it with him. My experience with Ben, the owner, was not only professional and direct, but he sacrificed time with his family to bring the vehicle to WA with him. I know how valuable those minutes are having spent 39mths away from my own family and friends. Ben was good humored and professional when we met it was a simple transaction so we finished the paperwork/payment, shared a couple stories, shook hands and parted ways. I doubt this interaction could have gone any more smoothly. So for his professionalism, sacrifice, and easy to get along with good humored attitude I am giving Ben and Lake City 5 stars. I am sure that you'll be just as happy as I am if you decide to go with these guys. SGT Morency, Justin F. 68W2P U.S. ARMY, Airborne (RET)
