“I stopped into Rustic Outlet McCall first thing in the morning, right as they were opening, and I'm really glad I happened across this place.

I was at the tail end of a vacation in McCall that unfortunately ended with a broken ankle. I'd checked out of my hotel that morning and was killing some time waiting for my ride home after dropping off my rental car at McCall Aviation. On my walk back into town, I met Valerie as she was opening up the shop. It was actually her day off, but she'd been called in to cover for someone who couldn't make it.

She welcomed me in, turned on the lights, and let me mosey around while she got things opened up. The store is much bigger than it initially appears from outside. There are all sorts of rooms to explore, plus an upstairs and deck area with even more merchandise. There's a really broad and eclectic mix of gifts, crafts, antiques, collectibles, locally made items, and all kinds of other interesting things. It's the kind of place where you can spend quite a while just wandering around to see what you find.

I ended up finding a neat vintage pack of railroad playing cards for my father-in-law, who used to work for Union Pacific Railroad. It was exactly the sort of unusual little gift I was hoping to stumble across, and I think he'll get a kick out of it.

Valerie was incredibly friendly and helpful, and we chatted pretty much the entire time I was there. Since I still had most of the day to spend in McCall, she also gave me a bunch of recommendations for things to check out around town and places to eat. I ended up following one of her restaurant recommendations later that day, and she was absolutely spot-on.

Great little shop, lots of interesting and unexpected things to discover, and an especially welcoming experience thanks to Valerie. Definitely worth stopping in and taking the time to explore the whole place if you're in McCall.”
