I have never met anyone more dedicated to breading beautiful and healthy dogs. They put so much effort and passion into these pups, and they are GORGEOUS! She takes great care to make sure the people adopting are the best fit and that the pups will go to loving homes that can properly care for them. This breeder goes above & beyond! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a quality bred German Shepherd. Not only do her litters get treated like royalty but the sire & dam do as well. The care they are given is nothing less than top notch. That care even goes well beyond the day they go to their forever home. There is a lot of love, time & commitment spent w/every litter in her care. Our house is full now but to have a pup from her is definitely on my bucket list.

Janie breeds some of the best well kept GSD around. My female and Male are amazing dogs. Great with my kids and family. She hand picks each dog for me based on my needs, from her managing each litter so closely to measure temperament and personality. Hello. 4 1/2 years ago I was looking for my first German Shepherd. I came across Owyhee Mountain German Shepherds and started the approval process with Janie. She was very thorough in her questioning especially since I had never had a dog of my own let alone a German Shepherd. She ensured I understood the breed and what I should expect I was so grateful, after our conversations, she felt comfortable allowing me to purchase from her knowing one of her pups would indeed be going to a good loving home. Janie recommended trainers, in my area of the country, and was only a phone call away when it came to any questions I may have had (which I did and she picked up every time I called and had the anawers). I was quite impressed how well she knew the demeanor and temperament of my specific boy Hunter as she only had him the first 8 weeks of his life. THAT to me shows the amazing talent and passion of her breeding skills. I highly recommend Owyhee and Janie if you are looking for an amazing German Shepherd.

This is Maverick. Janie is my breeder! Over 3 years ago I went to her facility and I was able to see the dogs, the care and the compassion that she has for everyone of her animals. At the time that I was there she had over 21 German Shepherd’s that she was caring for. My daughter and I enjoyed the entire time that we spent with Janie learning about how she trains how she works with the dogs as well as how many puppies she has had over the years. In the past three years I’ve watched everyone of her dogs grow as well as have new puppies, it’s so exciting to see, I would not recommend anyone better than Janie to have as your breeder. She cares for not only you, but she helps to match you with the right dog that will enhance your family. I only wish I could have more German shepherds if you’re looking for and she will match you with the right dog. Again thank you, Janie, can’t thank you enough.

I think the world of Janie! We have two of her pups, each one from a different litter and they are beautiful. Janie’s care and focus as a breeder is second to none, she does a great job of loving her pups and sharing information with people who take her pups to their forever homes. I couldn’t tell you how many times I have called or messaged her with a question and she was always super responsive and had solutions for whatever my question might be!If you are looking for a German Shepherd, look no further! I’ve known this breeder for many years. I’ve trained many of their dogs. Owhyee Shepherds is one of the most ethical breeders I know. She cares more for the dogs than anything else. All dogs are properly health and temperament tested, she works with all the puppies to start their training before they head to their new forever homes, and they all get started on their socialization skills. I see some bad reviews here and those people are complaining about the way they were responded to. Well I’ll tell you first hand from someone that has been in the working and house K9 world for almost 20 years…. They only got that type of response because of the way they went about their interest in the dogs. The breeder is very serious and strict about where her pups go as she should be. So many owners get a dog and within the first year give the dog up because they don’t put the time and effort into the dogs and give up on them because they didn’t do their research on the breed and the work that it takes to have a solid GSD. So take what these others have said with a grain of salt because this breeder is one the most ethical and caring. And if she asks you a ton of questions and some seem rude or off the wall just remember it’s only because she will only send her pups to the best homes! Thanks for reading this and I hope it helps.

2020 was the year we received our first pup from Owyhee Mountain and we were so impressed with her we purchased a second pup in December of the same year. One is a service dog and goes everywhere the second goes to work everyday at a busy collision repair shop. After meeting the current 2024 all black litter we decided on one more pup for our pack. She is wicked smart and we can’t wait to watch her grow up.Having spent considerable time with Janie at her kennel I can confirm that all dogs are cared for at a level most individual owners don’t maintain for a single dog. These dogs are exceptional and bred with purpose to create a fully functional - highly trainable - very healthy canine.

We have 2 puppies from this kennel, ages 3 & 5, and they are the most amazing dogs! Smart, playful, loving, loyal everything you want in a German Shepherd. When I’m ready for another puppy this is the only place I’m going. HIGHLY recommend!

I've dealt with a lot of breeders with shepherds through my lifetime. And this breeder goes above and beyond of producing healthy pups. And she makes sure that they go to good homes, she does not play around with that. The dogs are absolutely just beautiful. Highly recommend them.
