Excellent customer service as a customer of almost 23 years. Today, Joe changed a headlight for me without an appointment. I thought it might have been a wiring issue, but thankfully just a burned out bulb.

Really disappointed. I previously had great experience here before. Andy is a really nice guy. My radiator started leaking so they said they could fix it. They told me it was actually the heater core causing that, so I brought it in and it took them 6 weeks to get it done. I noticed right away that it was leaking, but they said I just had a small oil leak and that I was just filling the radiator too high. I assumed that they were right, but the heat in my car quit working so I checked the radiator and it was completely dry and empty. I had another mechanic look at it and he said its definitely something with my radiator and he sees its leaking. He told me the heater core was put in wrong.Really extremely bummed because they are such nice guys and always gave me straight up answers with what has been wrong with my car, called me to make sure I was okay with the price before doing the work. And with all the other work they had done on my car they got it done really fast.I am a single parent and full time student, so I cannot really afford to not have a car for that long but I felt like they were helping me out so I didn't get upset. I feel like they really screwed up somewhere and now I cannot afford to do anything else to this car. It's winter and I cannot drive my 1 year old daughter anymore or she will freeze!

WARNING: DECEPTIVE PRACTICES I took my van to Mountain View auto after a road hazard incident that caused a catalytic converter code to be thrown. P0430 for catalytic converter insufficiency. I explained to Mountain View auto what happened and what I needed for my insurance company. When I went to pick up my quote, Roger accidentally deleted it and was working to create a new one. I had my nearly 2-year-old daughter with me, and she was getting quite fussy as I wasn't prepared to stay for a significant amount of time. Roger addressed many things that he felt were wrong with my van. However, not once did he address why I had brought my van into them in the first place. He emailed me a quote, as you'll see in the pictures, for all of this work that he said needed to be done. For some reason, on the quote it says "customer States that..." I never states any of it. I was angry that he did not address the initial issue. Instead, he said that I should return the Meineke as it may be under warranty. Well, this could be true, but I'm thinking that the warranty is likely not going to cover a road hazard. Regardless, my dad and I went to the next business day to get my van and take it over to Meinicke, as Roger had suggested. He was visibly angry about us doing this despite it being his recommendation. Within 30 minutes of assessing the van, Meineke had an answer for me . A hole had been torn in my flex pipe that leads to the catalytic converter. This was causing it to code P0430.. It may have caused catalytic converter damage as well. I will know more after the weekend. The photo below is a picture of my flex pipe off of my van where the damage occurred. Damage that Mountain View auto ultimately failed to see and assess. I am a single parent, a graduate student, and I work hard for my money when I can. I canceled an appointment to get my teeth fixed because it was more important to have a safe car for my daughter to be in than to fix my teeth. I cannot begin to express the level of anger that I have for this company trying to take advantage of a woman and a parent in the way that they have. I did ask Meineke to do a thorough investigation of the van to see if anything else needed to be done, and there is not. Of course, I will keep up with the preventative maintenance, but that is going to cost me far less than $2800. The catalytic converter, while spendy, is thankfully covered by my insurance under the incident. Roger should try padding his pocketbook by doing honest work instead of trying to take advantage of somebody who can barely afford the work.

It was my first trip with the kiddos without the hubby - driving from North ID to Oregon. Hubby topped off my car and checked all the levels prior to us leaving, so I was totally worried when the car's heat gage got extreme just outside of Moscow. I stopped into the closest auto part store thinking my coolant had somehow run low/out, but alas, the extremely nice guy there said everything looked fine on first glance but that I was definitely running hot and suggested I come here, to Mountain View Automotive, as they work on a lot of Subaru's and are good people. On the way from the auto part store to there my check engine light comes on; of course, my first solo trip and the level of seriousness is escalating. I come in and there are a couple people in the waiting room and both tech's are on the phone, where I overhear one of them saying they are so busy they're backed up on appointments...great! I am near tears at this point, I just want to get the last 2.5 hours to our destination, I'm worried they won't even have time to see us and I'll have to figure something else out, but boy was I wrong. The lads here, totally took care of us! They got us in, replaced the lower radiator hose that was leaking as well as got us a new thermostat thing-y then filled er up with coolant. We were there for a few hours but I was oh-so-grateful they took time out of their busy day to help us get back on the road! I am also grateful they did not take advantage of a damsel in distress and price gouge, they were super reasonable and didn't even try to upsell me. Hopefully I won't have car trouble in this neck of the woods again, but if I do, I know right where to go. Thanks again, to all the Mountain View Automotive men who helped us today and also for your participation in the iSpy/Hot Cold game my kids did to entertain themselves :)

Please read the whole review if you are considering going here.I hate writing bad reviews, and I try to assume the best in everyone, but how bad my experience here was pretty hard to justify. I've read nothing but good things from other people, so do your research, but here are three reasons why I won't be going back to Mountain View Auto.(Tried to overcharge me) First time I went in they tried to charge me for extra parts that weren't needed, double the price. When I pointed out they were charging for extra parts, they changed it, and said it was an accident. I figured it could have happened to anyone, so I came back.(Didn't fix what I asked) I brought my car back in for new serpentine belt and to fix a high idle. Two days later they say that they couldn't get either either act up, so I pick up my car and turn it on. Both act up. I got the mechanic and showed him, and turns out, yup it had a high idle and the belt was squealing. Was without my car for two days and they didn't fix a thing. They also gave me a list of other "needed" repairs, see below.(Said ball joint was bad. All of them were fine) On top of not fixing the two things I had asked them to, they claimed I needed a new ball joint and I shouldn't drive the car at interstate speeds because of how bad it was. On top of that my they said my spark-plugs were bad, needed new valve cover, and wanted me to pay them $100 to clean my battery. Felt fishy so i took it elsewhere and NONE of the joints were bad, I even had them inspected twice to make sure. The rest of the repairs I had done at a fraction of the price Mountain view quoted me.I'd like to think these were accidents or misunderstandings, the employees were always polite and communicated with me well, even didn't charge for some of the inspections. But after three bad experiences, and the dishonesty I experienced, I wouldn't recommend going there.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Unbelievably caring, and careful mechanics who understand OEM part and take the time to be excessively kind and considerate when you are in need. I cannot recommend enough and cannot thank them enough. Fantastic, fantastic work.

Great mechanics, friendly customer service, honest and reliable! They don't BS you at all. They know what to do, when you need it done. I will be continuing my car repair services here ONLY! If I could give more stars, I would. I went in with what was only an overfill of power steering fluid making a huge mess under the hood on the passenger side of my car. They didn't detect any leak or puncture in the resivior and they just cleaned it up and was on my way. They mentioned another car issue but didn't pressure me to get it done right away because it's something that can wait and not a safety issue. They could have easily told me "it needs to be done asap or else blah blah blah" but they didn't. They even printed me a quote so I can save up to get the issue fixed when I can. They were even so kind enough to take me home and pick me up to pick up my car when services were finished since it took a while! I could go on and on about how great these people are. I will be returning for anything else! Thank you so much everyone at Mountain View Automotive!!!

This is the best place I have ever taken my Subaru. So much knowledge and so willing to explain in layman's terms to admitted mechanically challenged person such as myself. Even came in under budget. I would go nowhere else.
