This place has become a threat to my pets health. Multiple botched procedures, weeks to get an appointment. They can't respond to my concerns so I've been going to get second opinions from emergency vets. I feel they will kill my pet through negligence. They sold to an investment firm and you can see They only care about profit. They are now only open 3 days a week and went from 4 doctors to only 1.They have become terrible.

Have used Rivercity for many years for several pets. My how times have changed. In the past several years we have received questionable treatments, but still stuck with them. Last week was the last straw. Brought our dog in to be euthanized. What should have been a peaceful passing was not. The Dr attempted to administer the sedative and the catheter was not functioning. The techs proceeded to remove it. Rather than cutting the tape they pulled and pulled on the tape as it was tangled in her long hair. They were unable to get the catheter back in the same leg, so they tried the other, which had already been shaven, I'm assuming they had tried it earlier. After finally getting the catheter in, the doctor was able to administer the sedative. We were told for $25 they would provide a cardboard box shaped like a coffin. They charged for it but did not have a box large enough and were digging through the recycle dumpster to find something and taped boxes together. The Dr said it would be flimsy to try and carry her. We opted to wrap her in the duvet cover we brought with us. Several days later I had to contact them and ask that they refund to my credit card. What was a very hard and emotional decision turned out a disaster. I think I was in shock sitting there with her wondering if we should take her and leave. I have found a new vet and won't be looking back.

I have gone to river city for over 20 years I've lived in the post falls for 69 years. I loved them all and I dearly miss Dr. Clovis who is now in Athol. He was just my person, but Dr Johnson is just second to Dr. Clovis. I must say. . Dr.Luce the few times I have had to have him always tells me he's far too busy for my questions and then I miss my 15 minute slot I have paid for. .The only issue I've really had this recurring is they constantly change their email, which I emailed them now and then for issues, questions, appointments, things like that. And then they don't get it for like a year because they've changed their email and nobody looks at the old email. ... So make sure you call them or get a new email if you're going to email them. Other than that, they're just stellar.

They are amazing! They have been extremely supportive and caring towards all our animals. From assisting our oldest pup across the rainbow bridge, to our youngest pup in her random allergic reactions, and our hefty kitty loose weight when no other vet could figure out why he couldn’t. They’re attentive, kind, and patient. We love them and so do our pets!

Truly AMAZING, WONDERFUL and such CARE towards animals! We found this place on accident. Was headed to the ER place because our regular vet was "to busy" to fit us in. Our dog was suffering from 2 swollen shut eyes on a late Friday afternoon, but they got us right in and fixed our sweetheart Lexi and the Vet even kissed our dog! We instantly switched our care over and are so happy we pulled into the "right place"! Thank you so much to Dr. Johnson and the staff at River City Animal Hospital.

Wow! I am SO appreciative of this clinic. Our sweet goldendoodle boy somehow managed to get a METAL HOOK from my child’s car seat, clipped around/tangled in his paw pad. I called River City asking if they do emergency walk in’s. She informed me that they unfortunately don’t, but asked me what was going on. As soon as I told her, without hesitation she told me to bring him straight in. They brought him back immediately. The tech took him back and came back about 5 minutes later with it removed! Hallelujah! They were all SO sweet and amazing and I am just soooo thankful they helped us. Because they didn’t have to! We have found our new vet we’ll be taking our precious boy to for all his usual veterinary needs. Thanks again guys! Lucky says thanks a lot too! ?

Spent $605.53 to be sent home with my five year old cat with a twist in it's rectum, applied for Care credit, approved for $1000. Surgery is another $1362.43. Not willing to work out a payment plan. Was sent home with a cat that hasn't used the bathroom in days, lethargic, and sick.

I have previously left comments about this VCA River City Animal Hospital - Post Falls; and they continue to earn my negative reviews. My dog has severe allergies. This clinic prescribed medicated shampoo and Apoquel to treat her symptoms, but never took the time to diagnose the underlying problem, although they did refer me out to an allergy clinic that would literally cost thousands of dollars, an option I could not afford. Most recently, her Apoquel prescription ran out of refills. Maybe I should have been more aware of this, but I wasn't. I have just been giving her the meds, refilling the prescription, lather - rinse - repeat. Also unfortunately, Idaho is one of the few states remaining where I am unable to get a prescription online, so I called VCA River City Animal Hospital - Post Falls to get a refill. There was truly no reason for an inpatient appointment except to extract cash. They had previously made it clear that testing wasn't an option, so if they weren't going to test, then what is the point? I was then told it would be 2-3 weeks for an appointment. Keep in mind that this would be 2-3 weeks of suffering for my poor dog. No stopgap solution was offered, like a temporary prescription to get her to the next appointment. When I voiced concern about this I was transferred to the office manager who was horribly rude to me. She was clearly aware and angry that I had previously left a negative Yelp review. My takeaway from this is if you leave a negative review of VCA Animal Hospital - Post Falls, expect your dog to suffer. She also snidely challenged me to leave another negative review, I said I definitely would; and here I am, keeping my promise. I have since found a new vet who has run the tests that VCA River City Animal Hospital - Post Falls should have in the first place, has provided FANTASTIC customer service, and has begun a course of treatment for my dog that is showing immediate positive results. While your results may vary, my experience with this business has been very negative, and I am very happy to be rid of them, especially considering how good my new vet clinic is. I'm kicking myself for not switching sooner.

I couldn't ask for more empathy, compassion, or knowledge when it comes to the care of my animals. After a rapid illness, we worked with Dr. Luce to try and find the best route of care for our girl, Anna. They took us in as an ER case and they worked fast and communicated with us as often as they could. Unfortunately, we hit a wall with our old girl and decided it was time to let her rest. Doctor Luce was incredible. He walked myself and my twin seven year olds through the whole process, and was emotionally available for all of us as we let her go. He was loving and kind, as are all of the staff. I felt heard, seen, and validated in my choices. Thank you, thank you, thank you. For absolutely everything.

I made a $120 deposit for my animals initial exam. We had a family emergency come up and missed the appointment. They wouldn’t apply the money paid to my visit. They said it was gone. Horrible policy. Life happens and this company cares more about money than the animals families.

Took my elderly cat in for some dental work and the team communicated every suggestion and recommendation in real time, no surprises on the bill. Friendly team that visibly enjoys working with animals. Thanks to Dr. Brown and the crew, I'll be happy to recommend you in the future.

River City Animal Hospital advertises regionally as specializing in pet allergies. When you call them and listen to their on hold announcements it says the same; they specialize in pet allergies. When my dog first was seen at VCA they said that they didn't know what the cause of my dogs allergies were, and that it would be prohibitively expensive to find out, so they prescribed Apoquel (fairly effective but very expensive) and and some medicated shampoo and sent me out the door. When I called to buy more shampoo they would not sell it to me without an appointment. (Although it can be easily purchased without a prescription on Amazon). When I explained that she had already been seen and that this was what the vet had already decided was the best course of action, they insisted on having the appointment first. Today, I called to schedule the appointment. The receptionist was very nice but didn't know anything about the tests or services provided or the fees. I asked to speak to a vet. She put me on hold for a bit and when she came back she referred me to a different clinic. Was I referred because I was a "difficult" client? I don't know. I was polite but direct when I said I wanted to have a conversation with a vet before scheduling. I also had to have some idea what this was going to cost. I don't think either one of these things are/were unreasonable. OR do they not actually specialize in pet allergies? Either way, I'm just not impressed. They did nothing for me or my dog.

I have been with Dr. Clovis and Dr. Luce for many years now. When we walk through the door, everyone there treats us like family and our four furry family members feel it too. We’ve been through a long-term illness with one of our dogs. Through it all, both Dr. Clovis and Dr. Luce worked together to do their best for our Annie. Since being diagnosed 3 years ago, she is still with us and loving life. She loves them too. We have had them support us with true kindness when we had to say goodbye to our kitty and best friend. I trust them both without any reservations. Not only are they extremely skilled doctors, but they truly have a heart for what they do as well.
