“Great bank overall! The only issue I had today was with the process of exchanging larger bills for smaller ones. As a longtime customer, and as a family member of someone who owns a business that banks with Mountain America( who most of the employees that have been working there for a while now, know the owner very well…) I’ve done cash exchanges like this before and have never been asked for this much information. Usually, we walk in and the employees know who we are, and it’s always been a quick and simple transaction. Today, I came in to exchange larger bills for smaller ones for the business. I was asked for information about the business’s bank account, but I didn’t have that information with me other than the business name. Because I couldn’t provide everything they were asking for, I ended up having to use my own personal account to complete the cash exchange, even though the money was for the business. I completely understand needing to follow banking policies, and I also realize I should have brought my ID or debit card with me today. I was just surprised because I’ve never been asked for this information for a simple cash exchange in the past. I even spoke with a former employee afterward who told me that this wasn’t something they previously required for this type of transaction. I do like the reassurance that they are keeping accounts safe, but I brought the cash in myself, and I was not trying to pull money out of his account.. so I feel like it was a little over the top, especially not having to do that the many times we have come in for change before. I’m not upset about having to follow procedures—I’d just really appreciate some clarification on whether this is a new policy, because it was very different from my previous experiences with the bank, and it makes it difficult. While my father in law is the owner of the business in which I was getting change for, I don’t expect him to give me ANY information regarding his account.”
