We temporarily rented spaces at the Addison location (since November 2024), and were extremely happy and pleased with this storage facility. The facility is 3 stories, all units are internal with elevator access, and all are temperature-controlled. We were in the middle of a house move, and therefore were very active renters, moving things in over several months. We never had an issue with accessibility or safety. These units are very clean with no rodent concerns. Our prior storage facility was outdoor access only and unfortunately had mice issues as it bumped up against a prairie.
Highly recommend this facility; we vacated prior to the holiday weekend and management was flexible and kind enough to grant a pro-rated refund even though we checked out officially 3 days after vacating. Top service and special shout-out to Alex in customer service for her can-do attitude and going the extra mile to save us some money. Will definitely use Safeguard again for any future storage needs. Your belongings will be in good hands!

We have used Addison, IL. Safeguard Self Storage multiple times in years past. When going back today and finding out we'd have to set up the entire process of renting a unit on a kiosk I thought maybe I go somewhere else where I get a real person. But decided to give it a try. So glad I did because it was a real person, virtual but in real time and so pleasant, helpful and patient.

I think the quality of the unit and security of the facility are great but doing payments and close out procedures were relatively inconvenient. First off, the emails coming from the company go right into spam because of how they are written. They also feature links that, to the trained eye, might appear malicious. The hesitancy to follow payment links or use the online platform to make payments is exacerbated by the fact that there are 2 different web addresses. Anyone who knows the basics of cybersecurity would set off many red flags.
Aside from the sketchy emails and dated online payment platform, the close out procedure was extremely inconvenient. They ask you to do the close out in writing but the location has no guarantee of having a person on site even during regular business hours. I understand the convenience of the kiosk but if I have important questions or need assistance beyond a kiosk (such as closing out my unit and returning equipment), I should be able to, at the very least, get in TOUCH with a manager. Instead, there was no manager on site on a regular Tuesday afternoon and I had to request a call back multiple times. If the manager is not available for assistance during regular business hours and the kiosk does everything else, what is the manager doing? Why are they so hard to get a hold of?
Overall, great storage location but very poor customer service.
