Driver was very rude. Helpers were very respectful and made sure my things were placed where I asked them to put it. Driver tried forcing them to place all my items in my living room area (I have an upstairs where 2 of the bedrooms are located). Driver argued with the helpers in front of myself and my wife. Very unprofessional. Bed was also dropped and damaged in the process.

Very professional. Easy to work with. They communicated well. Did packing and loading exactly when they said they would. Delivery was well within the window. Especially pleased with Patrick, who led at both ends. Highly recommend this company for an interstate move.

Very pleased with the care that the movers showed with our belongings. Only negative was the amount of time it took for them to deliver to our new home

We moved from Illinois to Jacksonville Fl. North American after 4 months of paying storage the first delivery arrived, even though we were promised one delivery, half of our possessions arrived and the second delivery was to arrive sometime later. Three weeks later the second delivery arrived, the driver had no helpers so my wife and I unloaded the truck. I contacted North American and all they had to say was it was the driver's responsibility to hire helpers. Then fire the driver. Since they split the load we were missing a lot of items. When I contacted them it was too bad, so sad. I received no satisfaction at all from this company. I went local for my move and got burned. I received an email at one time stating they had found some of my items that we were missing, but nothing showed up. A lot of promises but poor performance. I would be very weary of doing business with this company.

Out of 4 interstate moves by four different companies this one was the worst out of them all. Most damaged items. Dishonesty from what estimator stated and what company stood by. Did not call to confirm arrival time for Day 1 packing. Had to provide tape on day 2 of packing and then having to fight to get reimbursed. Left diesel fuel container in my garage with diesel in it and won't take care of the disposal. Damaged a wall in the move out house I had to fix. Was told by driver they would do a one-time pick up of used boxes, when email a request, it was $175. They unloaded numerous items at the new house- through the house instead of using the side gate or into the actual garages. Example - patio fire table- dropped glass fragments from the table through the house, instead of going around the side. Very disappointing.

From the first local pickup to delivery earlier than thought service was great. Was worth the quote and peace of mind working with North American’s agent : Advantage.

From the beginning of the process everyone I dealt with was responsive, friendly and professional. Chuck completed the estimate via FaceTime. Carmen was assigned as my coordinator and she is great. Moving across the country is really stressful and I’d never done it before and it’s just me so no one to take on some of the load. I called Carmen one day and said everything I was worried about and she calmed me down and said they had it. Fabian was my driver so he was there for every step beginning with packing. His crews were awesome and the 2 men that were with him for the unloading were great about moving things if I didn’t like the way a room looked. Great experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend.

I was extremely pleased with this company and our move out of state, until I realized I was missing a box. I filed a claim and was told it was denied because I can't prove it. How do you prove that? I am very angry. The driver had to have found it on the truck. I don't know if he was ever contacted.

We contracted with North American Van Lines to move our belongings from the northwest Chicago suburbs to Fruita, a small town in western Colorado. If you hire these guys, I will guarantee they will be breaking many of your items. While North American wrapped the furniture, we packed all the boxes ourselves. We spent hundreds of dollars for moving boxes, bubble wrap and other packing materials to make sure our items arrived safely. When the boxes were moved from our house into the trailer, they were in perfect condition. It didn't matter. Our items did not break because of the way they were packed in the boxes. They broke because of the way the boxes were loaded and crammed on the truck. When we contracted with North American, we specifically asked the salesman about items broken in shipping. He told us if anything was broken to take pictures of the broken items and the boxes they came in. Then file a claim using their online form which we did and the items would be paid for. That is not what happened. North American paid us $109 for a claimed $840 in damaged items. Then to discourage us from asking for anything more they said if we chose to, we could file for arbitration. They were also going to charge us $300 to file for arbitration to discourage us from further advancing our claim. North American is claiming that because they did not pack the boxes, they couldn't be held liable for any damages. They further claimed that there was no written notification made of crushed boxes at the time of delivery. The reason there is no written notification at delivery is the driver, who should have been supervising the unloading, was sleeping in the truck while another local crew that was brought in did the unloading. As for who packed the boxes, that is irrelevant because of the way the boxes were loaded. Even if North American had packed the boxes the same damage would have occurred. Having worked for UPS in the trucking industry I know there is a right way and a wrong way to load a truck trailer. Our trailer was 13-feet high. The correct way to load it would have been to stack boxes to build walls until the boxes reached half the height of the trailer. Then a wood platform is mounted across the trailer and more boxes are then loaded to the top. By doing it this way the weight of the boxes is evenly distributed and the boxes on the bottom are not crushed. When our trailer was loaded all our boxes were clearly marked with what was in them. Unfortunately, the crew member stacking the boxes didn't speak English so it is unlikely he understood what was in each box. He then built the box walls from the floor all the way to the top without using any wood platforms. As a result, all of the boxes on the bottom were crushed by the weight of 13-feet of other boxes stacked on top of them. Those bottom boxes are where all of our broken items were packed. Our trailer was 53-feet long. When it was loaded, all 17,000 pounds of our belongings were packed in the first third of the trailer. This left room for other loads to be delivered along the way. When we got to our new house we had to wait 10 days for our items to be delivered. Because of the excessive delay I asked the driver how many other stops he had to make enroute. He said there were no other stops. Our items went direct from Chicago. My point here is that if there were no other stops there was no reason to pack our items so tight. The box walls didn't need to go to the ceiling of the trailer. Had the load been spread out more the boxes on the bottom may not have been crushed at all.Buyer beware!
