Unfortunately this salon struggles with their booking. I have had 3 appointments canceled by them at the last minute. Once I sat there waiting for 45 minutes until they finally figured out the stylist wasn't coming in... despite them calling me and confirming the day before.
Today I got a phone call about an hour before the appointment that - opps- my stylist wasn't scheduled that day...despite the fact that the called me and confirmed the appointment the day before again. My advice would be to find another salon where they better manage and honor their appointments.
Three strikes and you are OUT JCP Salon.

I have visited the JCPenney salon in Algonquin twice, and both times, I had a wonderful experience. I love Brooke's suggestions and work. She cut my hair for my 40th birthday and for my graduation and both times I left the salon super happy!! Thanks, Brooke!!

DO NOT GO TO MARY. I went in for a body wave perm recently. I had extremely healthy, long hair at the time. I showed Mary pictures of wavy perms that I was aiming for. She advised that I signed up for the wrong kind (body wave) and needed to do a spiral perm which costed more too. She told me she does perms "all the time." I said sure, whatever it took to turn out how I wanted.
She wanted to do these tiny rods (less than 1/2") and I was hesitant because they seemed really, really small. She wasn't very happy I suggested it, but went 1 size up (still under 1"). Since I'm not familiar with perms I thought that I would trust the 'expert.' She sat me under the dryer and walked away, returning only to remove the curlers and never checking prior to that. End result: she fried my hair and made the most disgusting tangled curly-q's. Not even remotely wavy. She then told me she "hasn't done a perm on long hair in so long!!" Excuse me!? She kept trying to say that it turned out so great as if trying to convince herself, and I was stunned silent. She didn't want to dry even a section, probably because she knew how bad it was. I insisted on seeing it dried with an infuser. It was horrendous. I was too embarrassed to confront her (shame on me for that), so I paid and went on my way. I cried when I got in my car and saw my hair in the sunlight.
The next day, I went to a REAL stylist for a deep conditioning treatment and had to cut off 7" up to my shoulders. It's been five weeks and I've since had another deep conditioning treatment. I switched hair products to Olaplex and do hair masks twice a week. The damage is slowing recovering, but still noticeable and frizzy. At this point, I'm over $600 in and still looking at more to get my hair back to healthy.
Needless to say, shame on Mary for not owning up to the fact that she didn't know what she was doing. She should never have committed to doing a perm on long hair and it was clear she had no idea what she was doing. Practice extreme caution going to her because you never know what other services she'll pretend to be an expert in.

Walked by salon spoke with receptionist about hair color i was looking for was told they definitely could do this with a few hour appt. just to busy to have done today. I went home and decided to make appt online. Arrived for appt - hairstylist was late. Then said they could not color today for what I asked for it would take many separate sessions not just the 2-3hr appt that i set. Stylist did not try to suggest other approaches or color applications or cut&style anything. Was a waste of time - do not feel this person had skills needed to complete color appt. Or just did not want to assist me which is why they talked me out of all services i made appt for. Maybe receptionist misled in the end I left w/no service that day.

I went in to get my hair done. The reviews all said Tina was great so I went in for my hair. I wanted a salt and pepper style hair and she said she was able to do it for me. Long story short, she damaged my hair so bad I had to get a short haircut. She kept reassuring me that she knew how to do it but she clearly had no idea what she was doing. I’m not sure why she would say she could do something when she obviously couldn’t. I went back a second time and she rushed me out. I spoke to the manager as well, and she was also very rude. I wanted my money back as I spent so much money on my hair and the only thing I got out of it was damaged hair. The manager told me to take my money and get out. That is no way to speak to a customer who’s hair was ruined by her hairstylist. She also didn’t even give me a good amount of money, less than half of what I paid for. They are so unprofessional here and only care about money. I want to talk to the manager again but if she is going to be disrespectful, I don’t know how to have a peaceful conversation with her. I’m so disappointed in how they treat their customers. I’m paying YOU to do a service and if you can’t do it, be upfront at the beginning. So unprofessional and disgusting. I had to dye my hair black because I was so upset with what she did.

I've been having my hair done here for many years. The employees in the salon are always so nice - Peggy is wonderful & knowledgeable! Brooke does an awesome job with my thick yet fine turning gray hair. She performs magic with my hair. My daughter had a balayage done & styled for her upcoming wedding and was so excited with Amanda's magic! Adriana did the highlights on my other daughter's hair - So beautiful! As I've said - I've been coming here for years and all the hair stylists are awesome! Thanks to these ladies listening to what we were each looking for!

The stylist cut my hair to the end of my ears when I asked to the top of my shoulders. This is a difference of several inches and could only be seen as intentional. I was also charged 50 when I was told 38 would be charged.Service: Haircut
